Instead of checking your data speed (which is great) check your video streaming speed. Probably, as it says in the fine print (if you can find it) it is typically 720p - 1080p. Most likely its 360p - 720p if you check your video speed? Save your box!

I couldn't sign up for it online but I did go into the store. He warned me that if you're out of range of a 5G tower, it will not work (obviously). At my home (in MA), I get only 2 bars "weak signal" but still getting over 100mbps download consistently. I purchased this for an off-grid property in New Hampshire with no address. I'll let you know how I make out after I test at the property. Thanks for the content, it went exactly how you laid it out.

I have had T-Mobile internet for a little over a year and I have not had a good experience. The download speeds are amazing, quickly being able to finish a game install to get into gaming. The gaming part, and the actual latency/ping side of it is terrible. I have never in my life had a worse experience with any sort of internet. I get average of 120 ping in every game I go and I can almost never play an entire match in any game, without lagging. The other day I was playing rainbow six siege with a friend, and I literally couldn't move. The lowest ping I had that game was around 87, and the highest reached heights of almost 2,000! No that was not a type 2 0 0 0. 3 zeros. That was a very bad part of it, but normally its from 70-1000. I have never thought in my life I would ever have to deal with, not lag spikes, but complete and total lag. I am disconnected from games 24/7. I sometimes can't MOVE in games. I have teleported back to location I wasn't in for over 2 minutes. I have had a terrible experience with this internet and I do NOT recommend it for gamer type people.

thank you for this video, I live in manteca california and also have been a t-mobile customer for almost two years now and I don't have a problem with the cell service, I pay for the unlimited plan since I use my phone outside a lot for a bunch of stuff like youtube, music, etc. My room is separate from the house and with our comcast router in a dumb place and it's wifi signal not being the best, I have resorted to wifi extenders and it works okay for what you want, but me I can't really use it for much, like playing video games it sucks. Whenever I download a games it takes forever, like won't be done until tomorrow night takes forever, and even streaming shows and anime are sometimes sluggish, even youtube can sometimes suffer slow speeds from my extenders. I've been looking at reviews before I went and ordered one and honestly the speeds it gives off look super good and I'm super close to a 5g cell tower in my town, on my phone I usually get full or 4 bars of signal and it still runs fine day and night. I've ordered it already and I can't wait to use it, it looks awesome, thank you for the video again, it was super informative and entertaining, keep up the videos mate.

I've had it for over 8 months now in Sanford NC and it saved us big time! We bought a house that has no cable TV access and we did not know it until it was too late and we both are working from home. I do not do any gaming but have had 3 different computers on video conference meetings at the same time and it worked perfect. I am very impressed and greatful. So far so good, thinking about switching our phone service now to T-Mobile also. Even stormy weather does not seem to affect it. Nothing like satellite!

My T-Mobile first came online in January 23 16:35 it was awesome up 50 downloads as high as 800. In 8/23 it all went to pot. It completely drops like 10 tmes a day and speeds have dropped to up 14 down 40. But the biggest issue is it drop to 0over0 very hour. Im thinking about going back to Comcast 😢ugh

I have had TMobile 5G for a little over a year and really like it compared to Cox internet. I have the same looking router that you unboxed, but mine is probably generation older. I can get download speeds of anywhere from 225 to 320. My upload speeds are anywhere from 80 to 130. Yes I love the price lock of $50.00 I have a TMobile tower somewhere in the range of 500 to 1000 feet from my living room window and can see it perfectly. I did connect a second external router to it. Like you said in your comment about the cable company in your area. I would get at most 125 to 150 down and 30 up with Cox in Virginia.

T-mobile can be great but the ping sucks and when they decide to deprioritized you it sucks as you drop below 1Mbps often. Most of the time they deprioritize you when you are online the most but they wont do it for the first 15-20 days, after that watch out. ( after work/nights. ) Also you will never get 5 bars, I am right next to my tower and I am at 4 bars. It's Like 200 yards away.

Maybe it works well for you because your location is close to the tmobile tower when my location the tower is far away from me. I was told there is only 1 tmobile 5g home internet plan.

I agree that this system is more of a secondary backup internet or for people looking for basic speeds or not too much devices to connect. I am on my 4th day of the 15 days I have to test for free and I am leaning towards returning it. It simply doesn't match my Spectrum speeds at all (and my Spectrum sucks). I live .6 mile from nearest tower. I live according to T mobile map on their 5G ultra service area(their highest coverage), and my T mobile internet can't produce more than 50-60mbps download on a regular day(12 to 20mbps of upload). Only times it went above 150mbps was between the hours of 1:30am to 5am. It could not stream 4k content without skipping or buffering.. the highest resolution it was able to play without any hiccups was 1080p. It sporadically disconnected and I would have to re connect. Some of my devices, such as my Ecobee thermostat couldn't even recognize and connect to the T mobile and the device was about 15-20ft from the router. It's just not stable enough to handle my Alarm, cameras and TV's reliably.

I love the plume wifi. But man that is a subscription of $100 a year to make the router understand and manage every device to perfection with a strong connection. And with what I hear for ISPs that cost is well over $60 a month and likely over $100 for fiber. T-Mobile with their premium mesh network with home Internet at around $50-$60 for a magenta max user mmyself wow is that very compelling and would save me so much money. I don’t game and my household doesn’t need to game all the time anyways. Life is more than gaming.

We ported our phones from Verizon to T-Mobile for the senior citizen plan recently. We already have Spectrum cable internet which we kept and reduced the speed on it to save money. Then I called the local T-Mobile store and picked up the TMHI device since there is a 5G tower nearby. I read on KZbin that adding a home router to the TMHI box would improve the speed and range. I ordered the ASUS RT-AX55 from Amazon which is plenty fast for the TMHI connection. It's not quite as fast as the cable internet connection but very acceptable speeds. I recommend the RT-AX55 ethernet connection to the TMHI box.

@@amexemoor443 you have the dream setup. If you get a wifi extender or mesh system it helps out alot especially if you have thick walls and have alot of blind spots where you live. You might notice a small- big difference depending on how much you want to pay or what system works best for you. Someone people prefer a mesh system than a power line adapter for their wifi setup

I set up my TM 5G days ago. Best I can say is that the speed varies throughout the day. The worst speed was still acceptable and the top speed was great and more than I really needed. My only dislike is the price. If one can get fiber, they may find it costs similar and has greater download and upload speeds. Cable also is similarly priced and depending where one is, perhaps more consistent than TM 5G. For my purposes, the TM 5G is a keeper though I think it should be cheaper given that the service seems to be 2nd to those who have 5G phones with TM.

yes it it has both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands .. it works with ring .. just make sure to go into the settings and switch the WPA security to WPA/WPA2 it defaults to WPA3

The ping is too slow..webpages and KZbin takes awhile to start most times. Up to 3 seconds..I'm not a gamer but that's a no go for them..fast speed is pointless at that point..I only get 5mbps at work for example and it's more enjoyable...fast loads and starts right of the click of the button

I got the home internet 5G and yes the speeds were fast. Data spreeds just like yours! But the bandwidth for video was sometimes 720p, other times 480p. Never 1080p. Unless you got the true 5G+, you probably won’t get it. Look at the small print, no guarantees, saying how much “traffic” in your area. Might be good if a gamer but unless you have a hotspot available on your 5G phone, your on a low priority. Same with AT&T and Verizon. I returned it within the 15 day trial since I already get the $50 a month mobile Hotspot with fast 5G data but dialed down 480p video bandwidth.

I just use my iphone 11 pro with a cellular data plan with 110GB a month for $90 Canadian. I get up to 80mbit down, 20mbit up. I hook my phone into routers with openwrt and the smartphone stuff on it, so those two together are a cheapo version of that box you have.

I heard someone saying they had to reset their gateway because the speeds went super slow down to the KBs like a hard reset and they had to return it to the store and get a new one after a month. It’s possible that more people are connected to the tower plus the more devices connected makes it slower. It’s not as reliable as wifi. You could try to get wifi extenders to make it faster and feather but 5G is not as reliable as normal wifi

We've had T-Mobile Internet for a year now and it's been great. We live in SW Washington and our tower is over a mile away and we see speeds over 350 to 700 MBPS down (depending on time of day) and average 50+ MBPS up. Compared to our old service that charged us 3 times as much for 75MBPS down and 5MBPS up...yeah, I think we're staying with T-Mobile. 😊

Just got mine today with my brother and dad we are sharing it. My highest download speed was 400mbps and we live out in the country but surrounded by towers so the t mobile store said we were in a perfect place. My dad was downloading gta 5 on the ps4 at around 30mbps and me and my brother were playing a game with no problem at all no lag whatsoever and I also did a speed test while all of that was going on and was still getting 230 down. Our only provider we had before this only gave us 3 to 5mbps for $150 a month so this is a huge boost.

the upload speed is around 60mb and that never changes but I do have decreases in download speed but only by like 40mb but that was only while a game was being downloaded but games didn't lag for me while so. I play on pc as well ethernet

@@jonathanfiel6215 try the 14 days, had the same problem, and we got T-Mobile and currently getting 100-150mbps on busy hours and 250 + sometimes, super good since I was only getting 18mbps with AT&T for 40 dollars, and now paying only 50

Just got mine yesterday and it’s been on and off for me while on the computer it’s been sometimes slow and sometimes fast but on the mobile it’s been really fast so I guess it’s really depends on the location because I been moving the WiFi box around hoping it’ll work on my computer since im a big gamer

A year ago I started out with 800mps download and 35-40 upload now I'm getting less than 50mps download every once in awhile I will get about 150mps down. The only thing that changed was I had the Tin Can and they did a upgrade to the software and killed it. I have the second one and my speeds have been low ever since. I'm going to Xfinity now.

It might be because everyone is learning about it so the more people that use the tower the slower the connection will be 5G is fast but it’s not reliable than a normal internet connection. It’s possible that it was a bug but I doubt it

Added external antenna to mine. Plays CoD just fine get 500/80Mb with external antenna. Living in rural AZ, TMHI has been amazing.

My review after 2 months...fast as hell 300mbps. But it's pointless the ping is too long...webpages and KZbin videos buffer for 3-4 seconds most times before starting...for gamers it's a no go. U need a fast ping. Went back to spectrum

Had it for a day, and it hasn't gone over 50mbps. It's sits around 19.20 and lower. Haven't had a chance to play Call of Duty or Division it's not looking good.

I had this in Seattle. AMAZING with 4 bars. 700+ down and 80+ down Moved to VA, new apartment is a stones throw from the T-Mobile tower. Speed test on my phone connected to mobile is 900+ down, as soon as I connect to the gateway the speed is 2-4 down. This is with full bars and "excellent service" Not sure if the location change is to blame, or the recent changes T-Mobile made. Either way it's trash where is love now so I returned it a day after receiving it Good luck

I switched to the T Mobile home internet a few years ago when it first came out. I am going to cancel them soon. Remember 9am and 9pm. They purposely drop service and these two times are a favorite. The internet will drop right on cue and stay off for exactly 5 or 10 or like tonite 20 minutes exactly. They also drop during the day right on the hour and for the same 5 or 10 or 15 or 20 minutes and then come on right on cue. You cannot be doing anything important online.

This service totaly sucked for me and I live 1.5 miles from a 5g tower. My 5g samsung A23 with tmobile works much better. What does that tell you? Also I now have Wow for internet only, $55 per month and consistent 500 mb down load speeds. Where's Travolta now????
