The i4 is the one that brings me back to the BMW fold from Tesla. I have loved my Model 3 but I have really missed the BMW build quality. This checks all the boxes for me. I have opted for the RWD version and 19” wheels for the added range. Finally, the BMW I’ve been waiting for.

BMW build quality? That’s a laugh. There’s no more unreliable, on a daily basis as well as overall build quality, as a BMW. Fun to drive yes. But otherwise garbage! The electronics have been horrible - glitch after glitch in infotainment. My 20k mile BMW just had $3k in service and repairs. Because it’s worth so much more than the lease buyout, I’m going to profit on this thing and go to a Mazda turbo. No, not comparable, but tens of thousands of dollars cheaper over 8-10 years.

Great review. I ordered the single motor/RWD version about six weeks ago after looking at the Kia EV-6 and Tesla Model Y. Kia dealer slapped a $5k markup + $4k in useless options on the car. That turned me off quick. Was looking at the Tesla Model Y and watched the price go up $3K overnight. Another turnoff. Great experience at the BMW dealer. No markup, no gimmicks, no pressure. $53K including federal tax incentive + tax and tags. Dealer said it will be delivered as a 2023 model towards the back end of this year. You confirmed my primary reason for choosing the i4 which is the exceptional quality of the driving experience. Thank you!

I stepped over from last model BMW 430 to an i4e40. I selected the 40 over the 50 because of range. I use range more in daily life than horsepower. Living with the i4 for the last 6 weeks the only conclusion can be that it is a fantastic car. The maiden voyage on day one of ownership was from the Netherlands to Switzerland. Totally relaxed at arrival because of the charging stops. The navigation itself is perfect, the integration of charging should be optimized. You need to select the charger(stall) on the map as destination to get the battery heating for fast charging in winter. Wouldn’t change for any car at the moment

Bravo! Excellent review. Finally a reviewer who understands the difference between EV and ICE and doesn’t compare the M50 to an M3 and whining about the fact that it’s not deserving of a real “M“ status. It’s really does deserve that status for an EV “M “. Also impressive that you acknowledge the appropriate price range in-between the 3 and the S As opposed to claiming you can get a three for $62,000 which is absolutely not correct. Comparative analysis with a fully loaded dual motor Tesla iPad performance model will set you back close to $72,000. Absolutely perfect and spot on comment that this is a little bit more expensive than the Tesla series 3 but much less than the S. Also spot on that you accentuate the fact that it has incredible launch fun experience, luxurious finishes, Super handling for a vehicle of its weight and great charging specification. Mind you, Tesla‘s charging capability with its supercharger network is Undisputably excellent but the fact that the most exciting part on that iPad on wheels is the fact that you can make “fart noises“ with it’s technology really puts it in a very different “aristocratic” setting then BMW. Also love the fact that you had 4 normal sized human beings in the vehicle between 5”10 and 6 feet tall and everybody sat comfortably. Other reviewer’s said the backseat is terrible only to find out they are 6‘6“ tall!!! Keep up the unbiased excellent reviews.

Including sales tax of 6%, delivery fee, dealer paperwork, it costs about $72, 200, a lot of money. Except for the HK sound system I got all the options for safety. Some of my driving is on curving rural roads with poor pavement so I wanted both adaptive suspension and laser headlights to avoid running into deer. I'm old with poor peripheral vision and need all the safety stuff I can get. I've had some unnerving blind spot lane changing experiences even with turning my head and looking into the rear view side mirrors. My depth perception isn't great so I need help parking (except for parallel parking which I learned growing up in NYC). Until recently I owned a 2000 BMW M Coupe together with a 2005 Honda Odyssey. I'm keeping the Odyssey for hauling stuff, but I'm really looking forward to driving the BMW. I hope I'm still functional by the time I get it, probably in January or February of 2023. I don't like the grill on the car I understand the purpose of it but..otherwise the car is impressive.I own an ICE BMW m roadster in a club for them I have been to the factory in Greer SC.I also own a Tesla this car ticks boxes for me but I just do not like the front of it.The back looks like an ICE Bmw.I like the look of the interior thanks Jordan for your honest review.

In no way am I convinced iDrive8 is better than iDrive7, in fact the opposite. iDrive7 is great, buttons are useful. Going into the menu to change things is annoying. It also looks like they got rid of 8 shortcut "hot keys" where the entertainment controls are. I know a lot people don't even use these (or even know about them) but for me they are very useful to shortcut to any function you want

Its great that you prefer German cars, but to compare this to a Model S in order to justify the price tag makes no sense! Thats like saying I would take the Mode 3 over an EQS as it is lighter better handling and way cheaper… The Model S is aimed at a customer looking for a bigger car. It is way more spacious, has adaptive air suspension all around (vs just the rear), way better range, faster… I understand you prefer BMW over Tesla but this was just silly
@hotrod1822 жыл бұрын
I think he means It's premium like a Model S. Even more so. And the experience is luxurious. So a class above a Model 3. A minivan has more room than a Model 3, but that doesn't make it a more premium class.
@ehudk2152 жыл бұрын
@@hotrod182 the Model S has noise cancellation, 3 screens (including one in the rear), four wireless chargers, adaptive air suspension all around, 670hp… I didn’t just mention space. I’m sorry but it is a level above the i4, he might prefer the i4, thats fine, many prefer the Model 3 agility over the Model S, still doesn’t compete. Apples and Oranges

I still do think this model is very heavy compared to what BMW is seeking for in their vehicles, but hoping to see them coming up with thier new electric platform that would be less heavy and overall just make more sense!

I mean they used it to put batteries and extra wires. So they tried to use up the space but yea I get what ur saying. I'm still leaning to the M3 until the bespoke BMW Ev come out in 2025.

80k vs a M3p at 67k. Um...NO! Aldo worse range and charging.
@gkacvinsky2 жыл бұрын
Most reasonably-equipped M50s are closer to $70K (the fully-loaded version they tested is not what most buyers would spec). The base version of the M50 has 19-inch wheels, which gives it a comparable range to a M3p. Also the charging curve on the i4 is not worse than the M3p. Based on reviews I've seen so far, it appears the i4 is just as fast on the charger.
@noorghani50532 жыл бұрын
Mine is speced at 69k and with the Ev credit its closer to the M3P. Plus the charging is pretty close not a very big difference maybe 5 minutes difference. Range shouldn't really be what your looking for in a performance EV although its nice but normal M3 and M4 and other M cars give about same range on gas. I don't know anyone who drives more than 50 miles for work per day. If you need a road trip the charring is fast enough.

I'm confused - the i4 M50 starts at $66,000 and goes 0-60 mph in 3.7 sec; the M3 starts at $70,000 and goes 0-60 mph in 4 sec. So, I assume that you bought your F82 M3 used, otherwise you would have paid more for a slower car.
