Each of your videos is a golden opportunity to learn English while we virtually travel in such stunning places. English lessons and breathtaking views, go really well together! Being British, the rain might not be as surprising, in the end, it is water falling from heaven. I guess you haven't experienced (yet) what they call "acqua alta" (high water) which is when you are walking and you notice that water starts to flow from the floor, first it looks as a wet floor, then like little ponds that get bigger at the point of joining one another. 😱 Then you'll have to step on the runway that they install ad hoc, mainly in Piazza San Marco.

Hey Luis! Nice example first of all! The rain never surprises me but I'm an optimist so I never take an umbrella!! Then I get wet :( I've never seen that!! Wow! It must be quite scary!

@@PAPIEnglish I'd describe it more like a surprising at the beginning but turning into an uncomfortable situation because you will not like the water leaking inside your shoes. 😖 Scary will get (luckily I've never been in one of those unhappy moments) when you see the food is getting worse till the level of going inside some buildings. As it happened in 2019. Those were very very sad days for "venicians" (i veneziani)

Thank you Sam, I like your videos very much. There are other nice towns in the norh-east of Italy, so near where you live: Palmanova, Caorle and Chioggia for example. They are little towns along the adriatic coast, you can reach for a one-day trip...and lesson!

The Origins of Ciao According to La Gazzetta Italiana, "The word ciao, in fact, derives from the Venetian dialectal word s'ciàvo (slave or servant)". Originally, this term represented a servant's common way to salute and show respect to his master. By pronouncing s'ciàvo, or more specifically s'ciàvo vostro, he meant "I am your slave" or, in a less degrading meaning, "I am your servant." It was not until the late 19th century that the greeting began spreading throughout northern Italy. It went from 's'ciavo' to ciao, this led it to shed its demeaning background. Ciao is now used as a standard greeting between close ones regardless of their class or gender.
