I was recently recommended this and it inspired me to revisit my Marindyr creatures. One of the defining characteristics of them are their 6 legs and feathery backs and tails, so the complexity meter is pretty strict, but removing certain parts spared e ouch complexity to give them a good space outfit that still highlighted their characteristics. Absolutely loved it

This is an actual character design guide, holy damn 😀 I always design my things only through playing, so I build them as animals that just happened to evolve a brain, focusing on how they'd fill up the ecosystem slot.... My probably most complex idea was that I gave a species I wanted to be Zealots two heads, as to explain their cultural disunity, which would then lead into an unitifying agressive religion 😂 Or when it comes to clothing and city planning, I evolved penguins in this game just to give them those jetpacks, so they finally can fly too 😂 And their houses were literally just igloos 😅 This is amazing that you showed me that I should think about my creatures as humanoids, thanks!

for people wondering, the smallest arm possible that he talked about at some point was a bug arm. It looks like a skeleton and can be found on the holiarm lower part, and to make it as small as he showed you scale all points down as small as possible and scale down the middle part (you scale down by scrolling with your mouse button while your mouse is over a part.)

I played this game when I was going through puberty. You will indeed learn some of these tricks over time but ironically enough the advises you gave about the creature and building editors were the most usefull for me. I just miss the days finding channels like these, some random person who explains and explores everything about a game and responding to youtube comments. I think there were some issues with making connection with the servers when you bought the game on Steam which has something to do with the activation key. That is the reason why I have not touched the game for a long time. In the previous video about Spore you were on a Discord server with the remaining playerbase of the game? That seems absolutely crazy to me that such an old game still has such an active playerbase. Some of these players like Parkaboy and Fotosynthesis really became famous with the time they spent in the editors teaching us things about the editors we did not knew were possible. I hope to see some more video material about Spore from you in the future.

I VERY recently discovered 4 things about the painting editors I didn't knew while making the buildings for my new playthrough... if you hold click over a color it will expand to let you choose between several tones (which made curse when I found black and white there which I always struggled to get 😅). If you hold Alt you get the drop tool to get paint texture and color from a part so you don't have to search what you used previously. If you hold Shift you paint the whole piece instead of just a part of it (like painting the glass on a window) and if you hold Ctrl you paint every copy of the part you have (Ctrl+Shift will paint all whole copies of the piece). Maybe it's common knowledge and/or part of the "editor's manual" which I honestly didn't take the the time to read but since it's a video about editors I thought it might be helpful for someone else out there. 😉

I’m so happy someone made this. It is amazing that someone is still passionate about spore, especially GA. I do have a question, though. How do you make text on buildings? I tried so hard to do this and it’s been pretty tricky, especially if I am doing thinner fonts.
@doxnotch3029 Жыл бұрын
For thinner fonts, the best way that I know is to use the cylindrical detail pieces and sink them into the walls so that only a sliver of the cylinder is showing. If you’re going really small you can use the donut detail pieces for things like R’s, B’s, P’s etc. if you can make it work with your design, it’s a million times easier to do all of that on a flat board instead of a curved wall.

For those using spore before the 5.1 patch, unfortunately there is no way to do the technique with the screw, however, it can be done with any one of the hats in the tribal, civilization, or space creators. Also there is no way to use asymmetry in earlier versions. :') (Though there maaaaybe a mod that allows that idk)

I saw you posted this years ago, but I am surprised to see you are still answering replies, I have some questions that I couldn't get answer by any search, so I would really appreciate if you could answer them for me. ❤️ 1. Although I'm pretty sure this sadly isn't a feature, is there any way to load a custom creature into an already existing game, and no I'm not talking about a new game while using that one cheat (forgot the name), but loading a creature into an already existing game, because I find it annoying how I have all the parts but the game doesn't allow me to just load a saved creature, the only work around I found to this was using cheats to start a new game with saved creature and then using more cheats to give the precursor abilities, but this just made my game crash randomly, especially when I opened my sporepedia. 2. I know some Maxis made adventures only appear with certain archetypes, is there a way to do this with my custom adventures? Since I know you can add the tag GAprop to buildings which will stop them from being polinated in games, I was wondering if you could add a similar tag to the adventures themselves to limit which archetypes they appear for, or is that what the type option box does when naming the adventure? 3. I haven't got too far with my captain and was wondering how the gear worked, I searched the wiki and it said that you can only get 10 pieces of captain different gear, does that mean I can only get two of the extra spaceship mode abilities from the gear or can I get more gear and/or spaceship abilities? 4. I am planning on maxing out my captain's social, should I go diplomat gear or bard? And what's the difference between them? 5. My brother maxed out his creature's complexity limit while in creature stage, when he got to tribal he was disappointed he could only fit 5 or so pieces of gear on his dragon god, he went to the main menu to see how much he can put on his captain loadout and could only get 3 pieces of glowing gear on his dragon, he restarted now. So (sorry for the exposition) would you say having a more complex creature or a complex captain suit would be better, when looking from the galatic adventure point of view? Are the galatic adventures abilities just flat out better than the creature's? Thanks for reading all of this, I hope someone has the answer to these. EDIT: After re-watching the video I realized you kind of answer question 4, but say if I preferred the look of the creature attacks are they worse than the galatic adventure attacks, and although you said not to use the bard pieces I still might because I love how they look, and also my creature is a little odd since I'm playing as a dog with no arms, so I really want pose.

The last adventure just blows my mind! I know it's really hard to predict the camera behavior on some objects in adventures. This game is still able to surprise me after so many years. So amazing! Also, I have a question. Why do we need a room's interior to be a single structure? Wouldn't be better to make all interior objects masked doors for example? And lastly. Did you know that there is a trick in the adventure editor that allows you to go beyond the planet, get to the sun and dive into deep space? If you are interested, you can check the video "Spore: Galactic Adventures - Teleport to the Sun" by Mysterious Creator on KZbin. This is my second channel. I'm not posting the link, because KZbin may ban it.

This is an amazing video, I always look back at this while playing spore. I got back into the game recently and started playing again, with this insectoid-centaur species called the Scorab (they are a bit in the red in terms of complexity lol). I came up with the idea that their exoskeletons can be removed to create weapons and tools, resulting in a reactionary and socially loyal society. I’m designing their buildings and vehicles to look like parts are made from their armor. Out of curiosity, do you have any tips on specific buildings like with entertainment?

These creators really are the epitome of "trust the process", so many creations suddenly turn from ugly blobs someone made on their first time in Blender, to masterpieces when the final details are added I've seen creatures be shared that used WAY more than the maximum complexity, despite cheats usually making them unshareable. I always wondered how they did that
@doxnotch3029 Жыл бұрын
Ctrl+shift+c to open cheats, then type “freedom” to to disable the complexity limit somewhat. You have to do another step to get it to share correctly but I can’t remember what it is off of the top of my head.

Adventure ai tip which as far as I know not many people know, but setting a creature to have a wander radius of 0/1 and then going to custom behavior with this order: wander when aware of player, follow player always will allow you to create mobs of npcs which follow you but stop the moment they're aware of you so they don't crowd the player, so you can set custom follow distances. Also adding attack (enemy team): aware of player under all this behavior will cause them to stop fighting and follow the player when you move away, so you kind of control your own little army

@doxnotch30292 жыл бұрын
It’s VERY hard to do that nowadays. The points are based off of how long it takes to beat the adventure and the difficulty. So to make it worth more, you need a lot of people to play it, and that’s a pretty huge challenge these days.
@Klaracbarack2 жыл бұрын
@@doxnotch3029 The play counter has been broken for years, so it's literally impossible now unfortunately. Points were based on difficulty, which was measured by checking how many people managed to beat it out of all the players who played the adventure. It was all percentage based. So if an adventure is worth 60 points, it means 60% of people managed to beat it. But since the play counter broke, the game can no longer calculate that. This means all shared adventures are only worth 15 points now (and adventures that are not shared are 10 points). The only way to change this is by using mods.

@@Klaracbarack ah interesting! I remember someone telling me it was partially based on play time back in the day, but to make things take longer you have to make it more difficult. Makes perfect sense that it’s a percentage of how many people finished it!

If I remember correctly, it’s part of the GA DLC. I didn’t know that at the time of recording.
