Not sure I'm a fan of these bad bots. Even the worst players still have plans. Bad plans, but plans nevertheless. Martin has no plans, just making random moves. On other hand it seems that he really never misses checkmate in one and that makes him better than any human. We have all missed checkmates in one at some point. :)

I agree, they don't help as much in learning basics of Chess as they could. It can be seen that they are super engines used in idiot mode, their setup is to play purposedly bad game, and it is the problem, because it is not natural. Much better is to play against very old engine, like 80s Commodore 64 Grandmaster, which tries its best but just can't play better. We all are in that situation, but instead of old program, we learn.

Ok. Martin messed up a few times, but a good 33% of his moves were solid. With NM Nelson Lopez's more seasoned skill and understanding, Martin exploited his teammate's set up and redeemed himself with a nice checkmate. Getting the job done in a very convincing fashion. Sort of like Sykkuno in one of Gotham's GTE episodes.

Here's a challenge that might be fun for an episode. You must checkmate Martin with 10 of your knights on the board and no other pieces besides the kings. Now same for bishops and rooks. You lose if you stalemate or accidentally checkmate (or lose a pawn meaning you can't get ten of the selected piece). These are all possible. Can it be done with queens?
