I’m getting a vstar tomorrow for 1600. Buying it that cheap cuz they guy had a fire in his garage and it caught some of the debris and burned the tank a little bit. But other than that, everything is in perfect shape, with no mechanical problems at all

A Custom model, with windscreen and bags! Usually see Classics with the accessories. Unusual but it looks great. Love it.

If your battery keeps dying, look into getting a new stator. also do not go cheap and buy the Amazon regulator rectifiers find a dealership and buy that thing from the factory. those $20 regulator rectifiers look great until you're stuck on the side of the road with a dead battery. Or worse it fails and overcharges your battery and now you're sitting on top of a grenade.

These bikes don't have a very strong charging system so if you haven't put a new regulator rectifier or stator in it I highly recommend doing that before any modifications. Also to prevent your CDI box from melting down from cheap ignition coils on Amazon, put a inline fuse on the hot side that goes from the CDI to your ignition coils

So that was the problem the battery? Weird it was good until it got drained. Had a kawasaki that did that. Replaced the coil, stator, and battery, voltage reg,... still same prob... ended up selling it for scrap. Also yamahas are notorious for the main fuse blowing and have a spare on the relay... But if the trouble light indicator was on guess that's not the issue... Curious to know what the issue came about though 😜

haven’t bike powers been growing over time? I have the VStar 650 and 40 hp is definitely considered low or a “beginner” type of bike here in Australia. But the bike moves well enough. It’s slow by bike standards, but moderately fast by car standards, I guess. About 8 seconds to 100kph (60mph). Also remember these bikes have a bit of weight to them (230kg I think?) so yeah, jumping onto this 40 hp after some of the more powerful cruisers, it’s gonna feel gutless. I still love my 650 though.

These bikes are virtually indestructible if maintained properly, but extremely finely set up. U miss an oil change, the engine light comes on; speedo cable breaks, engine light comes on. If u don't put the exactly right battery in u'll ruin the electrics. Don't skimp on the maintenance and it will go on forever.

I have had several Yamaha bikes that will not run with a dead battery. Some bikes will, but not Yamahas.

you must have jump started this bike to get it running when a lead acid battery goes dead, and sits dead for more than a few days, it is destroyed and will not hold a charge again. The alternator on a motorcycle can only power the bike when the engine is over 2 or 3000 rpm - if your battery is shot, when you pull in the clutch it will die just as you demonstrated

It was a test drive. And it died while he was driving it. No reason to buy a problem.
