I hear you! Definitely a valid concern for sure. I hear it a little more while accelerating and towing or grades and towing, but not to the point of annoying. Seems they found the right balance by not over doing it. Time will tell though as you mentioned.

I believe the lower trim level LT trucks don't have as much sound deadening material in them as say like a Denali Trim level would. That would be something to consider if people are concerned with the noise level inside the cab. And, that exhaust will still look almost as good as new 10 years from now being stainless.

Just ordered one and am waiting to land. I did a few more modifications to my 2500 24' gas. Added a "catch can(J&L oil separator)" highly recommendfor prevention on valves due to DI Diamondback cover HD. I use a lot of the bed box and keep many power and manual tools. Excellent safety cover Plus resist 2000 lbs above, so any high volume items dont below can do above. Front and rear metal bumpers. I think modern vehicles made of thin metal and/or plastic body, make me think a lot if I crash at 60 or 70 mph, saw a few videos and notice the engines gone almost in front on drivers leg space. I feel a lot of peaceful driving highways knowing any crash will stop better with the metal bumpers. Waiting to buy in a few months the bedslide to increase efficiency in bedbox. 1500lbs slide it's enough. I do love my cover, no water inside the bed. Another point I change from 20" to 18" and from 275/65/20 to 295/70/18 .... I made a research, and the 295 tire gave me the same load weight (3,500lbs ) in 65 PSI as the 275 in 20. (3400lbs) 295 it's the max wide without modifying the suspension, the 70 height the max too. PLUS, since it had taller and wider walls, made the riding more comfortable, more material to cushion. I'm passing the tip since I know you tow. Not many people research about tires configurations. I do town 10K lbs t 75 psi and guess what, a LOT more control, since tires goes up to 3,900 always more lbs above than the 275 orm, and make a difference..... Thank you again for the video!

Fantastic Video. Thank you. My new truck (3500HD SRW 6.6L Gas) arrives soon. I love the sound of this exhaust. You answered so many of my questions. However, I'd like hear more video with the Borla exhaust while you are towing. Also, what does it sound like cruising (non-towing and towing) on the freeway at 65-75 while under a slight load like going up small elevation changes? If I buy an exhaust, Borla can thank you for the sale.
@AdventureRocks8 ай бұрын
Thank you! Great question about the towing. That was probably my #1 question as I didn't want it to be obnoxiously loud given the way towing puts a strain on engine. I'll be releasing another video in a couple weeks showing the truck going up/down a ~25% grade if that helps. Maybe I can find time to do more in future as time permits. Basically what I've found so far is that when I'm towing and doing average accelerations the exhaust will sound similar to me driving unladen but doing fast accelerations (not quite pedal to floor, but near). Then once up to cruising speeds 40-65mph the exhaust becomes almost indiscernable. Otherwise frequent grades while towing you'll hear the exhaust more than unladen naturally, but I don't find it annoying. I could see if all you did was tow with the truck everyday or if one was always towing up grades that a performance exhaust like the Borla S-Type could get a bit much in some ways...personal preference. What I've really come to like about the S-Type is that if you drive it light to average...it's pretty much indiscernable. Whereas if I push the pedal hard I hear it nice and loud. So I like that I get to choose essentially when I want to hear it for the most part. Borla did an amazing job fine-tuning it.

Thanks for the information. Awesome video. I’m here for the 6.6 gas motor content. I have a Imagine travel trailer, still pulling it with my 2018 Toyota Tundra. I got in some bad winds last October coming from the beach & it wasn’t a good experience. I know the winds would still affect the 3/4 ton truck, but I’m sure it would’ve handled it better.
@AdventureRocks8 ай бұрын
Thank you. I've been continuously impressed by the modern 3/4 gasser. Coming from nearly 10 years of diesels ranging 3/4 to 1 ton, this GMC gives me so much confidence and no stress while towing. Just a really solid feel. I did a 25% grade towing test recently and will be publishing it soon. Too bad Toyota doesn't get into heavy duty trucks in USA, right? That'd be interesting.

For what it’s worth, I have a 2022 Silverado 2500 L8T and I tow an Artic wolf 287BH fifth wheel. I really only notice the wind when it’s head on because I feel it at the gas pump. Besides that there has only been a few times that the wind is blowing just right while I pass a semi and I’ll feel it pretty good. Towing is very relaxed for me unless there’s a lot of traffic.

Did you have active exhaust on your truck before you installed the borla exhaust?
@AdventureRocks8 ай бұрын
Just OEM exhaust beforehand
@mattwag117 ай бұрын
The HD's do not have active exhaust, in fact, only the 2024 6.2L has true "active exhaust" in a 1/2 ton Silverado/Sierra. Now, the 1/2 tons starting in 2019 have a "flapper" near the front of the muffler that makes the exhaust sound like $hit...that might be what you're talking about but neither of these were ever used on the 2500/3500 as of yet. And no cylinder deactivation (aka active fuel management) or auto stop/start either.
@rickbyfield21902 ай бұрын
Does it drone inside at about 1400-1600 rpm

What I like about the Borla is that once I let off the accelerator or go easy on it, I can barely hear it anymore. It's not an active system, but it's not overly obnoxious for everyday driving. You definitely hear it when accelerating though...such a pleasant, throaty exhaust.
