The sound is second to none. Like you, I want something that growls but is not obnoxious, loud but not too loud. The drone on the inside seemed very tolerable. I’d love to get the decibel readings. The 10 speed transmission really makes the sound almost dance as well. Secondly, I’m completely jealous of how handy you are, installing that on your own. You made it look so simple and yet I’m sure it’s not as difficult as I’ve made it in my mind. Thanks for sharing, I’m looking to do something very similar, if not the same to my AT4 soon.

Really glad I happened upon your videos. I really enjoy them. I've got the identical system, but with the Touring muffler. Your neighbors have likely shared their thoughts, but for me your vid definitely reaffirms my choice. My truck is *loud* early in the morning! Two other notes, for whatever they're worth. First, there wasn't a Borla hat in my box, which makes me go wah. Second, very good call on the thorough inspection. I've got the longer "standard" bed, and even though the description and manual stated the kit included the extra intermediate pipe, it actually didn't. This delayed my install, and I was disappointed in how the vendor (and Borla, I suppose) handled it. Ultimately, I went to my local exhaust shop where they removed the length of pipe needed from my stock system, and welded it on to the Borla. Stainless-to-stainless, no harm-no foul, other than an extra hit to my wallet. A bit frustrating - you'd think a $1,450 (US) system would include much better QA/QC - but I still smile every time I drive the truck. Thanks again.

Based in part on your videos, I ordered Borla-140768BC today for my '22 Silverado. This is the Touring version. Debated on S-type, but my truck is an LTZ, not a Trail Boss or RST, and it is not lifted due to my nearly 71 year old knees. Just want a bit more personality. Had Flowmaster duals on my '01 Suburban. Very noticeable when towing our travel trailer at 68 mph in third gear (2,700 rpm - couldn't hold 4th). Thanks for all the useful information.

Auto stop eliminator installed?? Isnt that the button that is on all trucks from factory? Or did you do something extra for that system.
@Donslife3 жыл бұрын
It has the auto stop/start enabled by default every time your start the truck. The ‘eliminator’ let’s you choose the setting to be on or off by default when you start the truck. It remembers your setting. Yes I know I could just push the switch every time I get in the truck. My two other vehicles have auto stop/start but it is off by default and I would prefer my truck to be this way. I just don’t want my truck firing up again at every stop, especially with a more aggressive exhaust.

@@Donslife ok the converters stay intact, you make the cuts about two inches behind them, then go dual. But if not trail boss or at4. And how happy are you with the exhaust now after a couple of months after it’s broken in? Any leaks? How’s it holding up to our Canadian winter? It’s 304 stainless right? Thanks Don love the videos and keep it up!
@Donslife2 жыл бұрын
Ah the drone question. Just to make sure my definition of drone matches yours. I had a Magnaflow on my 6.2 Denali and it would hold an annoying midrange tone/frequency when at highway speed and low engine load. So a loud humming that you could almost feel. The Borla S type can be heard at all times, but has not come close to droning. I can have a conversation with the family overtop of any exhaust noise. I can even record videos and it doesn’t cause issues. No leaks either and when I take it to the carwash they tubes I can see come clean. 304 Stainless for sure. It settled a little after a month and I just adjusted the tips, super simple.

I haven't heard the Touring for my truck, just a 5.3. It was an improvement from stock if you are looking for a little more grunt, but it does not compare to the S-Type. Neither drone which is really good, but to have the S-Type, you have to be okay with grunt every time you accelerate. Even feathering the throttle, you'll hear it. Also if you have a risk with annoying neighbors during cold starts, the touring is probably your safe bet. Mine roars like a lion for the first few seconds and then tames after warming up. As for the true dual - No I haven't heard one. I only looked into Cat-Back systems with a single connection
@BoziRedRider3 жыл бұрын
I'm looking at pretty much the same setup you have. I have the same S&B intake on my 2020 6.2L TB and I have gone back and forth on the Borla Touring and S-Type. Did you happen to record any in cab, decibel readings for the stock exhaust and then with the Borla S-Type?

No decibel readings sorry man

Great video, very informative, love your content! Do you wonder what it would have been like if you would have gone with the ATAK instead of the S-Type? I am on the fence and don't know which one to go with for my 6.2 CarbonPro... Any input would be great, from you or the chat.
@Donslife3 жыл бұрын
Well I think the ATAK would be too loud for me. The S-Type has a resonator that can be deleted with a straight pipe and you’ll end up with an ATAK setup. Or you can buy the ATAK and a separate stype resonator to add at anytime (2019-2021 gmc sierra 1500 Connecting Pipe S-Type Part # 60679)

@Donslife Жыл бұрын
I don’t know anyone personally, but I think we’d have to define ‘worth’. I can imagine if you are heavy towing they would make you feel pretty safe. I don’t think they would help a lot with the resale. Wouldn’t hurt, but wouldn’t get your investment back
@Synwright Жыл бұрын
What a difference 👏 sounds 👍 great. I noticed some other additions you did as well. Airbags and air intake. I sure hope these minor adjustments will not void our warranty. There has been some talk on the internet that GM has installed weight sensors. If you are over, the payload will void the warranty. Will research, in the meantime, we will have to have our exhaust installed (at our age). You are superb at installing and have great instincts on produts. Thanks ✌️out.

Hey Don, did you ever tow a 7k lb cargo trailer with that AT4? If so just wondering how well it did. Or any other trailer that weighed close to 7k lbs or more. I have a 2016 2500HD Chevy with the duramax and a 6 speed trans. I want to switch back to a gas engine and your truck is what I would buy. Just wondering how it tows the heavier stuff. I've seen you towing your boat before but I tow a 16' cargo trailer with 7k lbs behind the truck every day for work. Do you think your truck could handle that?
@Donslife3 жыл бұрын
Making the trip with 7500-8000 pounds this weekend. May take a couple weeks to come back and edit it all for the viewers though. My truck would handle it. Just more wear on tires and burn more fuel

I called a shop to have this installed on my 21 sierra. They told me that there are valves that cannot be cut out or it voids your power train warranty. Anyone know if there is any truth to that?
@Donslife3 жыл бұрын
Will it void my factory warranty? All Borla street Cat-Back™s, Rear Sections, and Mufflers are 50-state emissions legal. These systems will NOT void your factory warranty, some cars even have Borla systems as the OEM exhaust. www.borla.com › faqs Frequently Asked Questions about Borla Performance Exhaust Systems
@Donslife3 жыл бұрын
Hope this helps. My understanding is after the catalytic converter, you are warranty safe. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty act basically states that unless the modification can be proven to be the contributing factor of a breakdown, you have valid warranty.
@Donslife3 жыл бұрын
Also the GM Performance Exhaust (made by Borla) eliminates the 2 flapper valves. So…..

Not at the moment! I am in Canada so my guess is the shipping would be costly. I see the stock wheels for sale on Facebook marketplace, Sierra AT4 forums or craigslist often. Maybe then just pick up four cans of Hyperdip and make your own cheaper?
