Warden can kill the dragon, especially in groups. You didn't get warden aggrivated on dragon, though, so it didn't work. There is actually bedrock in the end, you only tought of the most common places. But bedrock is part of the center fountain, top of the pillars under the end crystals as well as the gateways.
