I Tested EVERY Type of Ammo in RUST | Best & Worse | 5.56 | Pistol | Shotgun
So in this video we will test every type of ammo in Rust, 5.56, pistol ammo and all the different types of shotgun shells.
This complete Rust guide will walk you through how much each type of ammunition costs, what each round is good for and what the best weapons are in Rust.
5.56 comes in 4 variants, Standard, HV, incendiary and explosive that's used for budget raiding. Not the cheapest raiding ammunition type but still quite cheap.
The pistol ammo or 9mm comes in only 3 variants, standard, HV and incendiary.
The shot gun cartridges or shells come in 4 variants. hand made shells, 12 gauge buck shot, incendiary and slug. The slug unlike the rest of the shells fire 1 single bullet that's good for more long range engagements.

@@ukaszzib3819True. All incendiary shells basically melt through metal armor - meaning facemask, heavy plate. A regular bolt headshot against facemask would do 160 / 2 - subtracting 50%. If you use incendiary round and point blank you will have 0.5~ hp left and bleed out. Damage will fall off at distance. If I recall correctly the bolt will do 90-95 at 30~ meters With L96 you can hit someone at 50-60m and they will have like 1-2 hp left. If they don't pay attention they will actually bleed out. In addition to all this, Incendiary also does ~10% more damage. I might have my numbers off a bit, but all incendiary is definitely worth using if you know you're going against armored folks. A personal use-case for me - I was on oilrig and someone flew in with a guy in heavy plate helm and sat on the big tower. We were wondering why we couldn't kill him and realized he was in heavy plate helm. Chugged 12 incendiary rounds to my friend and the enemy got cocky - 3-tapped him in the face and he died instantly.

I don't think that 5.56 goes through wooden walls as you said. That was possible in the early stages of rust, but from what I know, it's been removed years ago

iirc the stack size of handmade shells is 64 BUT the shotguntrap has 6 slots, thus you can get 384 rounds in there. But truth be told even with a pitfall-esque undrainable shotguntrap the attacker is more likely to rage and just go through the floors to avoid them for a higher cost in sulfur.

My advice for the game, don’t craft any type of ammo other than the normal bullets and explosive 55. Just take heli, Bradley or oil rig to get some of the different bullets and if you are playing a modded server where you can use any type of round. Use hv because it’s there and it’s better than the normal round by defalt

Can anyone tell me does the shotgun you use matter for range? I just always feel the db doesn’t have as much range as like a pump or I even feel like the waterpipe seems to have better range than it. I could definitely be wrong I’m more just wondering?

I definitely recommend using HV ammo for bolt and l96. Especially when going on oil rig. What you haven't mentioned is that they increase in damage the longer they travel (I tested it, it's true and that's one of the main reasons why I use them!) (Apparently I am also a legend)

For some reason I swear with every Fiber in my body there use to be explosive pistol bullets like I even remember seeing it on rust labs like I remember going over all the stuff to raid with and I remember even ruling out explosive pistol ammo but I guess they where never in the game

The only thing I use incendiary ammo is for horsey boys. Players riding horses in heavy armor and their horses in road sign armor, and usually have pump or spas shotguns.

Im still not convinced the HV rounds are worth the cost. Same damage and the standard 5.56 ammo curve can be learned. It would be nice to do one of these videos comparing those two types of ammo and whether it’s worth the 4x cost.

The only thing high velocity has over standard 5.56 is it can fire alot farther usually my team only uses those rounds with snipers as to tag heli easier over long range or with new players who don't know drop rate so they can just aim and shoot because it'll hit if your aiming directly at them. Now incendiary bullets are the way to go same damage when hit by one same drop as regular 5.56 tears through armour and destroys it faster so it falls off your enemies leaving them more exposed and if they are hiding and won't move leaves fire near them causing burning damage which when it hurts causes your aim to be a bit off pitting more pressure on them so they have a harder time accurately hitting you.

Personally? I didn't learn this fact until I had 900 hrs in the game lol. Other than that, no other complaints. I thought overall that the video was done well. Keep up the good work.
