Sadly he passed away last year in a motorcycle accident. We had the spirit carries on by DT played at his funeral. I even now own a beautiful music man majesty in memory of him. I notice a lot of people struggle when diving into extended range guitars because they're playing as if they are an entirely new instrument. If you already grasp the concept and theory of the top six strings it becomes much easier imo to play 7,8,9 string guitars. This advice may not help everyone but it surely helped me understand I was overcomplicating extended range guitars when I already knew 85% of the instrument.
@Rosie_Palms8 ай бұрын
I'd word it slightly different. A seven string in A is just standard tuning on the bottom six strings but with a baritone string on top. That is the easiest way I explain it to people. Or if you typically play a six string in drop c or d just play the top string the same in a seven string in b or a. 8 strings are a bit different but if you understand scales with a little practice it's honestly the finest timing it into G sharp and making noises you didn't know guitars could make.

Yeah I thought the same, in Hungary, where I live it is 1200 pounds converted from our currency, I think most of the world wouldn't call that affordable (for a lot of people it's about two months of salary here). Don’t have to guess. I already know it’s a cort. I’ve seen this one a few times now. The only thing holding me back from this is the bolt on :/ I know it’s not a huge deal to most. Thing is I’ve bruised the absolute hell out of my pinky and the meat right below my pinky finger by AGGRESSIVELY sliding up the neck at a show one night. Idk how the exact physics went down but I slid my hand up the neck and my hand caught that neck joint and my knees nearly friggin buckled under that pain. Half my hand turned purple and yellow. I won’t buy a bolt on ever again over that incident. I even pulled the neck off that guitar and glued it down and then sanded it all smooth. Still got that one. lol. That’s been like 15-20 years ago since I did that so my glue job clearly held up.

7 string guitars could be built differently if manufacturers wanted to. Instead of 25.5 scale length they could build 25 inch, slightly shorter but makes a huge difference. Sawtooth has one 7-string guitar with 25. Also the 48 mm nut width is quite a bulky size. 46 mm is just as good but plays a lot smoother. ESP has one. And another thing is frets. Most use jumbo frets but they are also higher and that results in a thicker neck. Medium frets are easier to play for most guitarists (yes even if they dont know it) especially with a 7 string. Sawtooth also has this on their MAB 7 string. Unfortunately that guitar is sold out. And the Evertune Bridge is a life saver. I haven´t tried one yet but looking back at all the hours I spent only by tuning the guitar I would go for the Evertune. You want to play the guitar not tune it all the time which will create agony and lack of enthusiasm to play. The only downside of an Evertune is that it sounds a bit clinical because - it always stays perfect in tune. That takes away a bit the stubborn character of a guitar which is charming and annoying at the same time. A good alternative to this would be a Floyd Rose style bridge. That also stays in tune pretty much but you keep the natural character of the guitar.
@JamieSlays8 ай бұрын
thats super insightful. i agree with some of these points !
@chocolatecookie85718 ай бұрын
@@JamieSlays thanks. I experimented a lot and sacrificed guitars for this purpose. Best for me would be to have a custom guitar build but is quite costly. Another point is fretboard radius. From my experience when the fretboard is flat (20 inch) the neck feels wider.

While I've loved your content for many years and seen many videos of your's, I cant agree with this sponsored video. This model is priced to be about $1,000 and to most of everyone out there, thats not affordable unless you save up for it. Thats mid-tear at the very least and far better guitars are out there for similar price points. The previous model of this guitar, the KX700, is still $900 brand new. While Cort, yes, is one of the largest manufacturers out there, their sales just dont match up to the other names such as Jackson, Ibanez, Fender, etc. Thier most sold guitars are their cheap entry level >$400 guitars and thats sadly what Cort has always been known for. The reason why they are among the top for manufacturing is because they take on contracts from more popular name brands to fulfill manufacturing for them. Thats how theyve marketed themselves for decades. But when you talk about sales, custom shops, signatures, and revolutionary products, cort is never named which is for obvious reasons.
