Ryle for the South/Southwest (Native of the South and spent time in the Deep South and Southwest): 1. Drink more water than you think you need! I make sure to drink two 40 Oz (not Stanley b/c I’m cheap) “cups” of water a day. 80 Oz minimum. 2. Automatically get a higher SPF…for all over. Reapply after sweating. DO NOT get the spray on kind. Just…don’t. 3. Wear lots of light colors and natural fibers like cotton and bamboo. Skirts are cooler than jeans (and sometimes jean shorts). Linens shorts are great (just don’t wear a thing with them, get the seamless type). Invest in some good hats. 4. Always watch where you step. If you might be where there are snakes…don’t wear sandals. Don’t wear sandals anywhere near cacti. Let your feet be hot…trust me. 5. Carry Pepper Spray (good rule in general for America). When in nature, consider bear spray in some cases (but for the love of any and all gods that may have, might, do, or will exist..don’t get either in your eyes. Stand upwind if you can when spraying either (That’s a general rule. Never had to use any bear spray when growing up in the Carolina…but I go to Connecticut for three days and damnit, I had to use it. There is something very wrong with Connecticut bears. In fact, I’m convinced whoever came up with Cocaine Bears must be from Connecticut. Random aside there).

i love the bathing suits and how the girls are working hard to make them affordable, but $51 or even just $30 for one bathing suit is insane to me. i always grew up in the clearance section at Marshalls or Tj Maxx and i still find myself having to shop there, especially in todays world. heres hoping that someday there will be bathing suits that are more affordable for us lower class. love the videos kris! keep up the amazing work!!

There's something to be said for well made bathing suits. The only suit I've ever actually loved was $80 for the top, and $50 for the bottoms. I'm a busty gal, and I always struggle with cheap suits, because they don't cover what I need them to, and they fall/slip off all the time. Especially bikinis. I've had my pricey suit for almost 6 years now, and it hasn't lost its elasticity or colour.

The problem is that sustainably and ethically made and cheap don't go together. You can only go so low with your price before you have to compromise on quality, pay your fabric suppliers and workers poor wages and so on. Even if you go to countries with low cost of living, you'll never be able to compete with TK Maxx and the like. Because they're already there, and unlike you they don't give a shit about their workers or their product falling apart after one season.

As someone who has been swimming competitively for basically my entire life, I can vouch for how expensive some suits are normally. I just got a new suit, and it was almost $200 with shipping. Probably not even ethical. It's crazy.
