I'm pretty sure that the butter grater thing is supposed to be used with toast. The increased surface area of the butter will make the butter melt and get softer much faster than a pat of butter, making it much easier to spread. After scraping it off, wait a tiny bit to let it soften quickly before trying to spread it.

I rarely use gadgets, but there are two that work so well for specific tasks that I would not be without them. The first is a slap-chop type, which I use to mince large quantities of garlic and ginger. I almost never use it for anything else, but for this it is incredibly fast compared to a knife. The second is an ancient Mouli-Julienne, which is sort of a hand-cranked food processor. I use that to grate cheese quickly. So much quicker and easier than either a box grater or a food processor.

I know this video is super old but i wanted to comment. I actually handle cold butter similar to that "butter knife 2" bit. I scrape a little off the top with the serrated side then spread it. Not nearly as much as you scrape off but i find it spreads easier by scraping a thin layer off the top then, after placing the butter onto the toast, scraping again the same way but spreading it as i do. It spreads really nicely that way.

@bethmatthews59218 жыл бұрын
In England we don't tend to learn a second language until we start high school (age 11-12) and that is usually French, although I learnt German! We can then take 2 languages until we are 15 or so when we can drop them, which most people do. I dropped French and carried German through until I was 16. However we learn really pointless things like about drugs and alcohol and we never learn proper language like how to ask for a drink or food! Also, they never make us learn the same thing very much so I've forgotten most of the German I learnt to speak although I can read and translate it fairly well

Home-made icecream sandwiches? With wafers? And this is popular enough that you can buy both plain wafers and a gadget to make ice cream wafer sandwiches??? In America we just buy them from the store, and the "bread" bit of the sandwich is more like a cookie than a wafer. I don't even think we have unflavored wafers in stores... We have the cream-sandwich wafers (basically wider kit kats without the chocolate coating) in multiple flavors though, just not ice cream.

NothingIsSacred I'll bet you do have unflavored (well, they're made with sugar) wafers in stores, you just don't notice them for reasons of convenience which is absolutely fine. When I started to cook my own food I was somewhat amazed what kind of stuff there is in supermarkets. I'm from Germany tho, but I think it's a thing you will notice it, if you ever need it.

Europe really, really loves wafers. All kinds of wafers. Especially with hazelnut filling. I ate a ton of them when I was in Norway & Italy.

You mean hanuta? ^^

Actually, I don't think I had any Hanuta wafers. I had a lot of Loacker brand ones, that is what the family I stayed with bought. And lots of Kinder chocolates. :)

Ayverie Ablaze hmm.. Seems like "Loacker" isn't too popular in Germany, I'll try some if I get my hands on it. Hanuta was just the first thing that came to mind, when you said hazelnuts and chocolate.

Haha mrs Barry had mentioned many times that when she cooks the kids enjoy it but when he cooks they are jumping around cause he cooks the food with a lot of spices 😂

for the butter grater, it would be great on a hot food item, like a baked potato, toast (not just bread) popcorn, mashed potatoes, etc. and the knife said to put the butter on toast, not bread. so maybe it needs the eat of the food item to help it along.

You're a naturally amusing guy. It's too bad you're trying to force it, especially with these gadget videos.

I don't know why, but 21:11 is so funny to me! I think it's just the tone of his voice combined with the glasses and the milk straw that kinda makes him seem like a timid 12 year old nerd in school who was just shouted at by a teacher!

maybe works better on warm toast

The straw glasses are also sold in Tiger. They're pretty fun.
