but seriously everyone will get a program. It wont be a cheap gym but it will be a small intimate space. I want a community where we all hang out outside of the gym. A few group classes in the morning and a few trainers doing their thing during the day. I dont need to make money on the gym as long as Im not digging into my pockets to pay for it either. Lots of big plans that start once we have a space!!!

Steve as a native Arizona resident, your best bet is going to be Tempe or Scottsdale as far as the demographic or people who work out and both are somewhat centrally located. Awahtukee is kinda far away from everything, I don't see many people driving out to Tukee to work out.

I am an Arizona Native as well and I have to agree with @Bertrand. I am actually from Ahwatukee and went to Mountain Pointe High School. While business will be good there, you will do much better in Tempe and Scottsdale. Tempe because of the college kids and central location. Scottsdale for the upper class and the businesses. Personally I would say try to find something on the border. Like around Tempe Market Place ish or lower Scottsdale. Make a gym price for students that requires a ASU ID and then a regular membership like 10 bucks more. Just saying. I am so happy this is happening though!

You're totally right about location. Location is key when you plan on being there a while. I would personally check out the demographic in different areas, crime rate, accessibility, zoning etc. (depending on your intentions for your new gym). I'm sure you're aware of thinking past the little things, layout, kitchen/office size(s), paint etc.(all in reason of course) -Wish you the best Steve!

Steve I would say the best location to look at is Chandler or Gilbert. Both locations have many high schools which means it's a very populated area, and there are many new building. More people move over on this side of town now because there is more open land then in Phoenix.

Hey Steve, I've been living in Arizona for 18 years and maybe I can provide a little advice. Awahtukee is pretty secluded from the rest of the state. For regular lifters you will be limited to locals from the city, I don't see people driving that far to work out. Scottsdale has a large amount of businesses and wealthy individuals. Gilbert is a very well put together city, extremely safe, and constantly expanding.

Ahwatukee would be the best choice. I know the specific location you looked at. Great visibility from the freeway. That spot also borders both Chandler and Tempe. *The immediate area belongs to some of the biggest high schools with large athletic programs. *Lots of traffic in the area as well with restaurants and shopping of the Ray Rd exit. Side note: Look across the freeway. All of those car dealerships built there in the last 10 years for a reason.....location and demographics. Good luck with the decision

Steve, the Gilbert/Chandler area is a great place to open a gym. The reason I like Gilbert is that it is really up and coming. Lots of new restaurants and farmers' markets (especially Old Town Gilbert) that area has such an awesome feel and is really on the outstretch of Gilbert close to Chandler. Might be an awesome place to check if you haven't already. Great demographic, great people, and a lot of people into fitness! A few months ago there was actually a big warehouse that used to be some sort of school right on the main strip of Old Town Gilbert. I want to say fairly close to Liberty Market. Hope you find an amazing place! I'm a huge fan and live in Gilbert/San Tan Area. I'll make sure to come by and say hey no matter where you set up shop. Happy Hunting!

Zona native here and mountainside is an extremely popular gym. They are mostly in the north valley, surprise, anthem, Peoria, Scottsdale. Always packed to the max. North Phoenix is where you want to be man.

I've lived in AZ all my life, I can say that Scottsdale and Tempe have the most flat out money, but Peoria has the most actual athletes and active people that are down to get awoke at the gym. Deer Valley might be a decent place, and Glendale is possible. Phoenix is a good place for a gym

WELCOME TO PHOENIX!!!!No on the TOOKIE! Nice area, but I feel your target clientele is more in Arcadia/Tempe/ Scottsdale. Arcadia is home for me, and Camelback Mountain is in our backyard. LOTS of active people in the area and the gyms are not that great. Tempe is a good choice as well, and cheaper rent. Scottsdale has the funds, but rent is high. My boyfriend is a former competitor, pro training coach and gym owner, so let me know if you have any questions or need further help. Good luck in your search and I wish you guys a great 2017!!!!

I live in Ahwatukee, and it is a pretty cool spot. There are already like 3 LA Fitnesses here, but no REAL bodybuilding/weightlifting/powerlifting gyms. I would appreciate it at least :)
