I don't remember ever doing a protect the device mission which was worth it. Maybe if the device was 200 hp one could maybe do it reliably.

Agree completely. In late game, even 400hp would be barely doable.

Also, i just gave my tankbuster an SMG and the arcthrower and send him to covert action duty... It doesn't suck as much when it is not a fake sniper.

Snipers with no snapshot and only a random chance of getting squadsight after several levels was...definitely a decision.

I have to admit, I can't get into this kind of masochism. Some of these mods are seamless and stellar, others are wayyyy overtuned against the players. 50% damage reduction unless at long range? How does that make any sense at all?

I'm starting to see a pattern here... Every time I'm selected to a mission there's an entire parade of enemies waiting just outside of line of sight for our squad... Maybe my red vest is too much for this setup? :P On a more serious tone: is it really safe to pick Channel now? I'm running a campaign with your mod setup and I really miss it, but I don't want to have to resort to console commands later on to get rid of it.

Yikes, protect the device with modded enemies is never fun. ...Also, uh, I'm playing with your mod setup, hit FL14 with the only "reliable" shredding (as in...not limited charges with cooldowns) I'm getting offered being the "melee attacks shred", which is obviously *great* against all the muton variants and exploding gatekeepers/sectopods...uhh, how screwed am I?

Shredding can be bit of a problem with Amalgamation, yea. Wrecker starts with guaranteed Shredder, Marauder has a chance to roll Shredder at Lt/Cpt rank or so, SAW Gunner (one of my most recent additions to the modlist) has 66% chance to get Shredder at Cpl or Sgt rank. Other than that, some specs get Chip Away (which is an active ability that can shred a lot of armor in one go), but I don't remember which ones offhand. I did add +1 shred to SMG's, so there's that too. Also, if you open a bunch of lockboxes, you might get lucky and get a weapon with an attachment that gives it extra shredding. If you're really desperate because you got nothing and don't want to restart the campaign because of it, you COULD use a console command to respec someone to Wrecker for example (which is the only spec that starts with Shredder guaranteed at Squaddie), using SetSoldierSpecs (but then you have to specify all 3 specs, and they have to be a valid combination - see FindSpecs Wrecker to display the full list), or you can also use RandomizeSoldierSpecs Wrecker (this will reroll the selected soldier to Wrecker, and randomize the secondary and tertiary spec). Obviously, you need to have console commands enabled (pretty sure AML does that by default, -allowConsole in settings, under active arguments), and have the Amalgamation Console Helper from my modlist installed.
