The diamonds are the opposite of what they believe they are: blue saw herself as benevolent but was merciless, yellow though she was rational but she needed to repress her emotions all the time, white acted as she was perfect and all-knowing but she knew nothing and pink though she was fragile and helpless but was stronger and more destructible than the others

Everyone else is forcing themselves to remain "calm" and "rational" (in a sense). Pink's power is basically emotion so with all that emotion and not being able to contain it like the rest, she's like a mine field

You can clearly tell he pays attention by what he's saying and even what he's asking (even going through past episodes, he's paying attention because of what he pauses this video to talk about) but he tends to focus on the more visible stuff instead of the hinted stuff and it's harder to catch these things when the show and fandom is over. It's better to catch on when you're watching the show as it airs because you get time to think about it all, talk with others within the fandom, hear theories, and watch the episodes over and over until the next one. He's able and most likely did watch most of these back to back because of how he released his reactions WHICH will make you miss a few hidden things that aren't TOO obvious

I love them, but they never think too much about the implications of things like the damage that Pink caused for example, like Scoot does. It’s hinted that White’s Pearl used to be the OG Pink Pearl in Steven’s dream when he’s in homeworld where Yellow Diamond has a giant neck and he coughs Rose’s hair, and also in the dream where Steven sees himself as Pink, and relives a moment Pink had in that tower, when Blue says “if this keeps going, she’s going to take away your Pearl”. It’s also a popular theory that our Pearl was White’s original Pearl and they basically swapped Pearls, because she has a gem in her head (all Pearls have the same gem placement as their respective Diamonds) and her skin is white.

Yoooo one of my favorite things about the 'white pearl' theory is that it makes a TON of sense with how pearl is. Shes a perfectionist and thinks with her head before all else. But white had said "Pink...you were always my weakness" something along those lines. White diamond alludes to the fact that her "emotions" (Pink) is her weakness, just like she had blushed from embarrassment from stevens comment at the end of the series. MY theory is, is that white diamonds pearl is more like white diamond than she ever had anticipated, falling in love with Pink. But also in the end, Pearl herself was part of the entire downfall of the empire. Pearl was the one who had the logic to think of a way to let Pink explore earth as a Rose Quartz. I LOVE THIS THEORY.

About the Rose Quartzes : in “Now We’re Only Falling Apart”, when Pearl explains her and Pink’s story, she says during the flashback of how it all began that she looked just like a Rose Quartz when inverting her gem and changing her shape. So really, it was just a coincidence that Rose Quartzes have a gem shape that looked like hers when inverted. She created them beforehand like other Diamonds created other quartzes like Amethysts, Jaspers and etc. Roses were her quartzes, and because of that they retain her features both in color and different facets of personality, as implied by Pearl : “They don’t just look like her, they are like her. She created them.”

When they gave her a chance to name a yellow material that looks like gold, she named it fools gold (haha get it?) What if they finally gave her a chance to make her own gem (since amethysts kindergarten was probably her first), and her being inexperienced, just based them off of her. Onion having not changed was something I never picked up on until Scoot mentioned it. That is terrifying that he’s exactly the same, specially since other beach city characters like Connie & Peedee have noticeably grown up a little. It’s wild to me as well that Pink Diamond impersonated a Rose Quartz soldier to the finest detail, the same gem placement in her naval, the same hair curls, and the same reserved personality. Even the way she lies down in her sleeping back at 21:26 is similar to how Pink was lying down on the beach in the flashback of her & Greg taking care of Baby Sour Cream. Can’t help but feel so bad for everyone, especially Pearl, Greg, and Steven, as it’s a ghost from their pasts that they’d just put to rest.

I kinda get it tbh, the show itself is ment to tie up loose ends but ends up creating more questions and creating more loose ends, sometimes the characterization doesn't match with the overall characterization the characters had within the series ever even after changing throughout the show and they make decisions or say things that are extremely inconsistent and feel like they're there for the plot and lastly parts of the ending feel underwhelming or unfitting with the situation.

The show of empathy and compassion that Pearl has towards Volleyball is touching and a huge sign of her growth. Pearl does not make excuses for Pink because she herself understands firsthand the pain caused by Pink's actions, she is aware of how deeply flawed Pink is.

I like that we aren't shown whether or not Volleyball is healed, because healing from trauma takes time, and is often more about forging a life worth living rather than getting "healed" in the way we traditionally think of it. Recovery is a process. Showing her healed might lend the impression that "she's fixed!" where as showing her as not healed might be read as "she'll *never* recover!" I think they knew what they were doing, and that it's more complicated than that.

In the SU movie reaction you mentioned people saying this season isn’t good. It’s not that Steven Universe Future isn’t good, it’s that unfortunately after Rebecca Sugar insisted on Ruby and Sapphire’s wedding episode also being a plot heavy one (meaning it couldn’t simply be cut from airing in countries that censored their relationship) Cartoon Network cut Rebecca’s episode order down heavily, and so it felt a bit rushed because they had to condense all their planning down to a movie and one season that was shorter than the rest.

the movie and future were not the initial end plan of the series. the wedding episode was supposed to be the season finale of season 5, but CN told Rebecca she could have the wedding but the show would be cancelled for it. Rebecca negotiated for a few more episodes to at least finish the story, and got Together Alone, Escapism and Change Your Mind. those last few episodes were supposed to be an entire season. they cut a bunch of stuff too to have the wedding a couple episodes earlier so there would be more post-wedding time to wrap it up despite being cancelled, Rebecca Sugar still kept pushing for a movie, and SU had been performing better than expected so CN agreed to the movie, but said there was no point in a movie without any more show to promote, so they gave them another season as well. by the time that was approved though, Change Your Mind was almost ready to go to the animation phase and the other episodes were almost done, so it was too late to change how the story ended, so they had to make a new story. they mention in the commentary track that most of the uncorrupted gem designs in the bubble bath scene in Change Your Mind were able to be changed last minute to match their movie/future designs, but some were left with their original look because their movie/future designs weren't finalized in time. the crew knew exactly how many episodes they had to work with with future, unlike the main show, which was constantly under threat of being cancelled prematurely the main reason I've seen people not like SUF is the drastic tone change from the main show

Basically explaining how Future came to be : the crewniverse wasn’t sure it they could do a season 6 after the Ruby and Sapphire wedding, because Cartoon Network was strongly against the idea of the wedding at the time (because it would’ve been the first gay wedding in animation) and they could lose their chance of making a season 6 because of it, but Rebecca and the crew fought hard to make the wedding happen- “Change Your Mind” the song that Steven sings, was originally a song that Rebecca wrote to herself about the ordeal, as the wedding was something very personal to her that she wanted to make happen as a queer person. She later realized that it also fit Steven’s final character arc in the original story and used the song for him. There’s the full version of the song with a verse that was unused, sung by Rebecca, on KZbin : “I don’t need you to respect me, I respect me I don’t need you to love me, I love me But I want you to know you could know me, if you change you mind You think I'm no good, don't you? Just admit it, just admit it And it gets to me sometimes When I let it, when I let it It's easy to let it It's easy easy to forget I don't need you to respect me, I respect me I don't need you to love me, I love me But I want you to know you could know me If you change your mind” Due to them not knowing if the ending of season 5 would be the end or not, they had to “rush” the ending of the original story they had planned since 2012 in case they didn’t get to make a season 6. Later, they ended up getting the ok from Cartoon Network and they wrote Future to tie up loose ends that they didn’t have the time to wrap up in the original series due to the “rushing” of the situation.

In real life, different gems can looks pretty identical if they are cut the same way, so it's possible the Rose Quartzes were just cut in that shape for Steven Universe. It's also possible that Pink Diamond created the Rose Quartzes after disguising as a Quartz herself in order to blend in.

Both Pearl and Volleyball had this tension going on during the episode Like when Steven first brought Volleyball to Pearl while she was being the judge of the volleyball game between the quartzes, and said “Wanna compete?”, with Volleyball reacting with “Excuse me?” and Pearl clarifying that she was talking about the volleyball game. It’s a nod to this tension between them because of Pink Diamond.

The big thing about SUF is it really just about Steven and his learning journey. Side character definitely feel even more like side characters but i really like it for that. It addresses things that i wanted addressed in the original series

As far as I remember, the explanation is that Rose Quartzes are the only quartzes created by using Earth's minerals and life essence together with Pink Diamond's essence, all other quartz were created by using the other diamonds as basis or mixing their essences together with Pink's, that's why Amethists are so damn laid back (the purple ones) because they are a mix of Earth, Pink and Blue, so they are less laid back than Rose Quartzes. Rose Quartz share all of the Pink's quirks, they are laid back, love to just relax, they have fun and are just happy overall, less like a soldier. What I believe that happened is that, since the Rose quartz are the ones Pink made sure to make herself, she knew the forms and shapes of every single rose quartz that popped from their kindergarten. So she took the form of the one she liked the most. And then, once she decided to make Rose Quartz alias, she bubbled every single one of them herself, to make sure they wouldn't be killed by the Diamonds, but then she just... Left them somewhere, and once she faked her shattering, she decided to let go of all of the Rose Quartzes and Spinel. To me if she had empathy, instead of thinking every single Rose Quartz as a sacrifice together with spinel,s he could have taken them and then after the war ended tried to unbubble them, but since she decided to take the form of one of them, she couldn't do it without everyone figuring out. She's just dumb most of the time xD. Still, thats the reason Rose Quartzes are so damn like Pink, because they are the only gems that were created by using only pink as a base, you can see Saphires are blue mostly, and they are mostly calm and have that clarity around them just like Blue, while Rubies are more hot-heated, they remind you of Yellow with a mix of Pink in it. Steven Universe sadly left way too much to be answered, we never got to know how a Diamond is created, all we know is that probably pink was created from a comet, not a planet, since she's smaller and White calls her Starlight. But that's it. We also know that Spinel was created from an entire moon, you can actually see in Rose's garden that there's a destroyed mooon with the HEart Shaped thing there. Again I really wish Rebecca just wrote everything about these details on a book or something. xD

If you remember during the episodes where Steven dressed as Pink Diamond and was going to talk with White, you see Steven in a dream about juggling while Pink Pearl is sitting on her knees next to him laughing and clapping. Then Yellow Diamond comes in to check on them while her neck stretches all the way over to them. That was showing you that Pink Pearl belonged to Pink Diamond. Another hint is Pink Pearl having her gem on her belly while our Pearl has her gem on her forehead. Pink Diamond made Pink Pearl but the other diamonds made our main Pearl for Pink after she damaged Pink Pearl. White Diamond then decided to take Pink Pearl for herself to make her better and perfect again

When I heard they made Pink responsible for breaking Volleyball I thought they screwed it up again. That they were just using Pink as a Plot Twist for another trauma. But honestly, I love this twist. I mean, unlike Spinel (Which has hundreds of plot holes), this is actually justifying everything that happened, and if you look closely you understand why Pink did what she did. "One knew your mother was trying to change, but she couldn't understand why. The other never expected her to change at all. Now, I get to understand everything." Pearl didn't know that Pink could be so destructive for a reason, she learned from that. She was a spoiled child until she learned that her actions have consequences. Locking a girl alone in a dungeon for years frequently for her actions is not the best way to educate her, eventually she lost her own empathy. No matter how many times she gets locked up, she will never learn her lesson until she feels the guilt herself. And this event was her first step to mature. (Postscript: There is a concept art of what it was like when Pink received our pearl, she was just on the floor crying in disbelief what she had done while one of the Diamonds just said: "Don't break this one")

Steven Universe is all potential no substance and every fan credits them with the story they COULD have written not the one they wrote.

The thing about Pink is, yeah, she did a lot of damage & her actions had a lot of consequences, but what was she expected to do? Just... let it keep going as it had been? Just, shut up, don't say anything, & do what she was made for? Let Earth be hollowed out & the Gems be exploited & not DO anything? Like, it's EASY to just SAY that Pink did everything wrong & she should've done this or this when you've never been in her situation before! I'd like to see anyone else do better! She did the best she could! Yes, she made A LOT of mistakes that had terrible, terrible consequences, but that's just LIFE!! If she hadn't done what she did, Earth would be a carcass!!

Pink is the rarest color diamond in real life, so it wouldn't be far off to assume she's the most powerful diamond. (ex. Like how Pink Steven pretty much folded White in Change Your Mind) My interpretation was that she was the most powerful but young.

About Roses Quartzes, gems are made with the essence of the diamonds, some gems are made by the essence of one diamond, some are made with the essence of all of them. Normally Blue gems were made with the essence of Blue, and peridot (for example) was most likely made with the essence of Yellow and Blue together. This applies to rose quartzes, they are just another type of gem, they just happen to be made out of Pink's essence, that why theyre pink and not some other color. Normally the gems also have the same personality of their diamonds, like Blue Diamond and Saphire have a similar tone. The Roses got bubbled bcause "Rose Quartz" was the leader of the rebellion so the diamonds basically blamed all Rose Quartzes for the crime of one.

Before I finish, I have to address the Rose Quartz confusion. Rose Quartzes were already part of Pink Diamond's court, and there were a whole bunch of them. The other Diamonds knew about the Rose Quartzes, as there was no reason they wouldn't. When Pink Diamond decided to explore Earth, she disguised herself as one of the Rose Quartzes and blended in with the crowd. After starting the rebellion, she kept up the Rose Quartz persona, still in that disguise. As Rose Quartz, she and Pearl faked Pink Diamond's assassination. Blue Diamond, thinking Pink was gone, went ahead and poofed and bubbled all of the other Rose Quartzes, as a sort of "The whole class gets punished for this one student's misbehavior" thing. Yellow Diamond wanted to go even further and full-on shatter the Rose Quartzes, but Blue chose to keep them, as they were something of Pink's, something she could remember her by. Now that the war is over, the truth is out, and Era 3 has begun, all of the Rose Quartzes that were bubbled in the Zoo are now free. Also, the reason Pink was able to disguise herself as a Rose Quartz is because... Gems can be any shape. You can cut a gemstone into whatever shape you want, and then it will be that shape.

There are several reasons people might not like Future, but I think one issue is that it really tackles a lot of issues of trauma and growing up, and... I think that changes the dynamic a lot. Personally, I love Future, but I can understand why people don't.

When I first time watched SUF I thought if Jasper were part of Little Homeworld / Homeschool she would have had somekind of fight club. A place where she teaches Gems how to fight and also hold tournaments. Tournaments for who loves the thrill of a fight and ones who want to fight for glory. That was something I came up with and I thought it would suit her well.

Pink wasn’t that good of a person but she wasn’t completely evil. She was childish, she’s the only gem that was like this, for any normal gems such behavior would be considered a defect but since pink was a diamond she could get away with it. Most gems would treat their pearls like they’re not even people, but pink let the gems around her be themselves to a certain degree, though I’m sure she still expected them to be subservient to her and was careless.

I think the fact that our Pearl didn't even recognize the pink diamond that volleyball was talking about tells us how much she's changed even before going to earth. I think that after pink pearl got hurt and taken away from her, she actively started having more control over her emotions so something like that wouldn't happen again.

Stuff about gem creation - - During the one episode where yellow diamond was in a sauna and blue diamond was in a bath, they seemed to have excreted a liquid with was collected in a drain. - That same liquid could have been the liquid from the first episode you just watched where he healed that quartz. The liquid could also be what makes gems in the first place. - Most of the time when a gem is created, you are able to tell which diamond they came from based on their color. White Diamond - White or possibly all colors. Yellow Diamond - Green; Yellow; Orange Blue Diamond - Purple; Blue; Green. Pink (lighter shade of red) Diamond - Orange; Red; Purple.

A cool curiosity of the volleyball's episode is that the fusion is inspired by a "fusion" of the characters Utena and Anthy from "Revolutionary girl Utena". A part of the pearl's clothing and swords were inspired by Utena. There's even a sword fight scene just like the anime in the first season :)

I think since certain gems are made to serve a specific diamond, it isn't impossible rose quart's gem cut would look similar to Pink Diamonds cut (since nobody would have seen the top of her gem to start with since it was in sideways until she shifted it) Rose Quartz were Pink's special Quartz, since Blue said "they were hers"

So u probably know already but basically any kindergarten is used to make gems, when rose first came to earth as pink she was watching the quartz soldiers form on earth(the one amethyst is from) after disguising as one she makes more in her image so that her cover was easier to keep. The color of the gem implies which diamond they were made by. It's stated by Rebecca that the creation of a green gem is overseen by blue and yellow diamond, like emerald. So purple gems made by blue and pink, which is why the famethyst guard the zoo. A place for pink from blue, if that makes sense

She turned into a rose quarz to fit in cuz there were most of them out there Then she went to the amethysts to learn more (we saw our amethysts un opend hole there :D)

Pink made the rose quartz gems around the time she got permission to colonize on earth. She used similar designs of what she saw to make her own morph of them so she could see earth without being noticed by the other diamonds. Seeing how much she loved it, she did the whole "fake shatter me" thing with pearl and made her form into a rose quartz. In one of the diamonds main rooms, all the bubbled rose quartz gems were floating above. That's because everyone knew a rose quartz gem poofed (or at the time shattered) pink and so they bubbled all rose quartz gems to find the one who did it. When you say "rose quartz shattered pink" you might as well be saying "1 out of hundreds of rose quartz gems killed pink but we don't know who because they all look the same"

White DIamond Power: She can control a gem's gemstone, allowing her to control her physical form, speech and actions. The gemstone is the gem itself, it is where memories and, if desired, objects can be stored and it is what gives a physical form to a gem. since a gem's gemstone works similarly to a computer, White Diamond can "program" a gem to do whatever it wants if it manages to reach its gemstone using its power. White Diamond's attacks are shown in the form of a white beam of light. Blue Diamond Power: Blue can affect the feelings projected by a gem. A gem's feelings can alter its physical form or even destabilize it, as we see happen with Sardonyx when Blue Diamond, with her aura, causes her to defuse. Blue Diamond's attacks are shown in the form of a blue bubble or sphere and even a Blue Aura that affect both enemy and allies. If I'm not mistaken the gem rose quartz is associated with love and affection. So I believe that just like how blue and yellow affects the gems that are around them I believe that rose quartz pulls gems towards her. I believe that the more the gems are without love and affection the more they're drawn to Rose which could explain why the pearls are so drawn to her. Pearls are mindless drones after all

Personally, I feel everyone didn't like Future because it stopped feeling like a kids show... but Steven is growing to be more aware of the things such as his trauma. It started with him no longer being in his mother's shadow but now it was Steven's turn to finally grow, as a person. I personally really loved Future, because it was so relatable. You can't fix everything, especially when a lot of the actions and choices aren't yours to make, like Jasper. Steven felt that his purpose was always helping others, it was pretty much everything he did as a kid. This show felt so confrontational

The thing is we learn about who pink diamond was in reverse. She like the other diamonds was selfish and destructive but went through her own character arc and became a kind person. We learn about the kind person that she became first and slowly find out about how selfish she was in the past. That is why our Pearl and Volleball know two different pinks. Our pearl knows the kind and caring Pink who was a great leader but Volleball only knows the selfish and bratty Pink who she used to be.

They're part of the "Quartz Soldiers", it's shown when Pink Diamond shapeshifts into a Rose Quartz form when she and Pearl go to Earth. The same way Jaspers and Amethysts were born on earth, so were Rose Quartzs. The Diamonds KNOW she created them, it's not like they were top-secret or part of Pink Diamond's plan, they were as relevant as any other gem doing their job on earth, but then were all bubbled away in the room where we see Blue Diamond mourn Pink. They state multiple times that the gems made on Earth are made by Pink Diamond, Jasper yells at Steven that her diamond was Pink, they describe Rose multiple times to be part of Pink Diamond's army, and when Garnet is explaining the story of Rose Quartz to the Off-Colors, she mentions Rose worked along all the other Quartz, but she was different (this before she knew that Rose Quartz = Pink Diamond). 29:58 Steven's full gem form completely no-sold White Diamond's multiple lasers and with a single move backed everyone away in "Change Your Mind". So yes, pretty much. People didn't like Future because it's not what they expected and because it felt kinda rushed. Personally I loved Future, I liked that it addresses many problems that they never got to talk about in the original show, and give closure to a bunch of topics such as the bubbled Rose Quartz, how people process Rose being Pink Diamond, how Steven grows as a person and it feels more realistic showing that people have flaws and Steven trying to do good but not always being right, such as the second episode and showing that Amethyst kept her "I will be there for you" promise by constantly asking him how he feels and keeping checks on his thoughts.

Each Diamond represents a different aspect of a person or should I say gem sorta like mind body spirit. Wasn't sure if you knew this before. White Diamond: Head/Torso ~ Psychological Yellow Diamond: Arm ~ Physical Blue Diamond: Arm ~ Emotional Pink Diamond: Legs ~ Love/Compassion This is why you can't fully heal a gem without all the diamonds.
