in my opinion, i would put connie into S tier for being their for steven during the entire show and future. The whole speech she gives about steven putting others first and how its their turn to help steven and not whine while steven is having a mental breakdown, is so moving and shows she truly cares about steven and his mental health (best couple). 14:31 I’m pretty sure there actually was gonna be an episode about Rhodonite’s past in Future! I may not remember everything correctly, but I think the just of it was that Homeworld had made a device that could see how many “past lives” a gem has had, or how many times their memory had been wiped. (Think of spinel’s scythe and how it wiped memories). Rhodonite tested it out and somehow had a super high number, like 17 or something, meaning her memory had been wiped a bunch of times. And then their past as a ruby and a pearl would be revealed. Their story was basically the ruby and pearl found each other and fell in love, but of course were factory reset. But they kept finding each other AGAIN after that, and each time they ended up falling in love in different ways, then getting wiped. It’s like they were meant to be together and form Rhodonite.

Imo, I would put Jasper in A tier. I completely understand feeling like she didn't change much, but I saw her in future as a representation that not everything can be fixed. Steven makes a difference on all the gems, but Jasper is so stuck in her ways she can't be changed. Great video!

Im also all for Lars been S tier. It's funny, but when a Steven Universe writer held a conference in my country, a guy, instead of standing up and asking a useful question, asked why the show can't get rid of Ronaldo, he was super angry about it, and the writter answer that exactly, to be clear he started saying he liked Ronaldo, but also said that some fans may feel unconfortable about Ronaldo because in a way may be a projection of themselfs , at that point it felt like yes, the dude was Ronaldo xD.

To be fair, Ronaldo isn't just hated because he's annoying. He's also hated because he's kind of a psychopath. I mean he straight up tried to kill Lars onscreen one time, and then Lars was the one who apologized to him. He also tried to kill a watermelon Steven, pretty much just for the fun of it. And it kind of feels like he was about to dissect Steven when he thought he was a snake person, which btw feels uncomfortably similar to how a certain Owl House character reacted to a similar situation. In small doses I honestly found Ronaldo kind of funny sometimes, but he's objectively not the best person...

Remember that steven spent a while with lapis at the top of the pillar, leaving greg wondering what was happening or if Steven was even alive. It makes total sense for him to try to latch on and spend more time with his son, even if through dishonesty. And he fixed his mistake by the end of the episode.

Persoanlly I think all the diamonds should be S tier or A tier. They were introduced as the big villains of the show, and their presence have been felt throughout the series. When we meet each diamond, it suits their character and personality really well. Yellow diamonds introduction was very scary and it makes you feel sort of anxious. Blue diamond you feel a little intimidated but also her grief. White diamond's introduction was one of the biggest moments of the show and in the last few episodes you start to question whether she is right about steven or not. And when pink diamond was revealed to be rose quartz, I think its very perfect, the diamonds are ruthless leaders and it works very well for rose's reverse character arc, going from a courageous rebel to the thing that everyone is fighting against. Personally I think white diamond is the best diamond. Her character design, voice, and story is perfect for SU, it makes you questions everything that had been established up to that point. Although I guess they all should be A since the ending was quite rushed. Still the diamonds are some of the best characters.

OK SO could they have done better with malachite? yessss HOWEVERRR the best thing about malachite is that she is malachite, like symbolically its great because in water malachite releases toxins, guess where malachite goes to suffer through her toxic relationship? the bottom of the ocean, like no way is that not intentional
