Same here. Of course God getting the credit. But he clearly uses FR Peter as a vessel. I pray I can find a spiritual father that's anything like him. Not trying to feed his ego he legit helps me so much as I go to war with demons on the daily. Best channel 100% Orthodox Ethos. Pray for my true repentance. I struggle often.

I do not know what is the situation in this regard in the monasteries founded by Ephrem of Philotheou in America, but in Greece, and particularly at Mount Athos, you can ask to be baptized if you have only been chrismated and even receive baptism if the one you received was not by triple immersion. This may seem an extreme approach but it is in line with the teaching of Saint Basil and the holy Canons about the reception in the Church

That canon by St. Basil does not give an actual format of how to proceed in these cases. This myth of the "economia theory" is just that, a myth. Of course it is also a protestant reading of the holy canons, dismissing the Holy Pan-Orthodox Council of Jerusalem in 1672 and the Confession of Dositheus and not understanding the context of the canon. As well as the fact that chrismation has been an accepted way to receive the heterodox alongside even just confession and renounciation of heresies for Latins (or revestment for clerics), for a very long time.

I am very grateful for having learned from Fr Peter that I and my family could and should be Baptised and not just Chrismated. We're it not for him, I would have had no idea. As a result, my priest changed his mind and Baptised myself and family. Someone needs to let people know that Baptism is an option.

The truth is far worse than this. A person could come to an Orthodox church and go there for 5, 10, 15+ years, and not one of the priests will even ask them a thing about themselves or their journey to salvation... sad but true

Good point E🔔. And then there's the problem of unChristian "Christians" to contend with as well🙀

If someone was Chrismated without being baptized Orthodox, should they get baptized years later?
@johndannenbrink759022 күн бұрын
It definitely happens. I know someone who was baptized roughly 8 years after being chrismated
@Justin_Vaughan22 күн бұрын
It is the case with many, many people. The saints have told us as much.
@FinskijPravoslavnyj21 күн бұрын
No. That is against the teaching of the Church. When some has already been properly received (like through chrismation), there is no need to rebaptise.
@FinskijPravoslavnyj21 күн бұрын
The Council of Jerusalem that has been received by the entire Church, has already went through this. Baptism by the heterodox as long as it is in the name of the Trinity is an accepted baptism. Doing it again is blasphemy. It has nothing to do with ecumenism. Saying anything else is not in line with the Church's teaching. Godspeed.
