Yes I agree Stephen is a great narrator I love how he puts on a act in his voice when it comes to different characters in the storylines. I started listening to him just a little over a year ago it’s quite addicting. Some of my favourites stories is the sheriff encounters a UFO, the dog from the pet shop, a teenager inherited 12 million dollars & a sad curse etc. 🩵

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who does that. My old decrepit mother thinks I am going bonkers... Meanwhile, BTW, she creeps around the house - with a walker, mind you - slower and quieter than a mouse, appears in the doorway of whatever room I'm in and begins speaking to me while I am intently watching/listening to the TV just around the wall from the kitchen, or have my tablet on some scary true stories. Since I like horror and am up late at night, and she is up many times to go potty, this is somewhat shocking. Because of my love of jump-scare horror movies, and can predict so many of the others, I don't scare easily - never did - what with three brothers, and still don't now, EXCEPT Mom. I cannot hear her coming! I have often teased that I'm going to get her a cat collar with a bell on it. It's gonna have to go around her ankle because it's the only part of her that moves much as she creeps inch by inch to her destination. P.S. One of these days I may edit this when I find that her foot falls don't have enough movement to activate the bell. If this happens, it will be time for Mom to go in the Nursing Home... She'll probably haunt me before she even dies for that.

Except the mc did not get hurt. Telling the new recruit the whole thing will just quicken the cycle. Anderson just bids his time at least he gets a few more months. Pretty sure he kills Dean Norris in a few days with his skeptic ass. The runaway sacrifice is a set up. They dont want to kill the locals. They stage the whole thing. Sacrifice is only called a sacrifice if they do it willingly, like Norris or Anderson. The animals burning is a bargain and wont satisfy the deity for long.

Thank you for the stories and thanks to the authors who wrote them i find this far more entertaining then television or video games at my age. This is perfect for sleeping i can hit pause resume in the morning but helps me fall asleep. Thank you so much for the great entertainment and stories i hope you go on forever with stories that probably would not get notice some way better then Hollywood ever could be. Keep it up 😊

As an Ohio native can I just say that it's hilarious how many stories are told about our state and how little is actually said. There is always more than meets the eye :) Edit:gosh darn it the wards went down again. Where is my shotgun?

I thought it was funny that he gave Anderson what I would consider a North-Eastern accent. "Aspen Pahhk Road" I'm from Illinois, but I'm pretty sure you guys don't have that accent in OH. 😊

@@NatetheSensitivePlant From Ohio here. The Wright brothers invented flight transportation itself to get away from here. That wasn't enough. Hell, I live in California now, but the Ohio touch SPREADS. Once upon a time, people the world over wanted to know what Ohioans thought about politics because it was a swing state when I was a kid and the United States was considered the most powerful nation. The only way to truly get away from it is to leave the planet. And even then.... It draws you back.

I never understand what the cults get out of worshipping these sorts of God. It doesn't seem like they get power or money, or immortality or anything. They just like burning people alive, I guess?

look up Sai Baba. To be short the leader gets most things like money ( of the followers) sex partners and obedience from the members. The members originally had a wish they wanted fullfilled. Some that wanted things like the power to intimidate or convince others got it. Most just forgot about it. They became junkies. The deity may show them things but nothing important. But just like a junky they cannot stop, they need their dose.

Most cults don't tangibly offer anything outside acceptance within the group. They often promise some combination of personal gain (immortality, wealth, magic powers...), but usually at some future time which never comes. This doesn't really seem very different from any other cult... I suppose their displays of devotion are more directly violent than most.

Trading two sacrifices for a new loyal cop who won't meddle in your affairs anymore-now that's a good deal! But, alas, if you eliminate the senior officer, you risk losing more sacrifices to the well-intentioned rookies down the road. Not a good plan.
