My personal head-canon with the Gozanti being able to carry 2 AT-AT walkers is that while they can do this, the Gozanti isnt able to jump into hyperspace with walkers attached. So what we see in Rebels and Battlefront is just Gozantis acting like a carrier, moving the walkers from a base to wherever they're needed. Plus, the AT-AT walkers can be pressurized for a time, which would explain why the Gozanti can carry the walkers from a Star Destroyer in space down into atmosphere. I have no way to handle how a Gozanti collects a walker in space though, so don't ask me on that

Been thinking about this for a while as well. As far as I got....tractor beam? The gozanti's are roughly half the size of a Cr-70/ 90 corvette. Think Tantive IV from A New Hope. With that said, the 'Zantis should be able to dock infront of an ISD hanger entrance. Where the walkers can be tractor beamed into place below the gonzanti. Locked in place. Then disembark. My head canon atleast 🤔

I assume the AT-ATs just walk out of the hangar bay to drop out of the ship's artificial gravity, get shunted into place by stormtroopers with rocket packs, and collected from there by the Gozanti.

I wanna assume the at-at are on a rack that just slides out of the side of an ISD where a Gozanti can just come and pick them up.

It is possible with these being earlier transports, they were later deemed as overkill or too specialized. Outside of large scale battles like Mimban or Hoth, you either accepted the risk of a speedy skirmish with the Gozanti or brought overwhelming force with the Titan.
@angry_eckСағат бұрын
or alternatively they just didnt survive while these light fighter carriers double as assault transports

I like to think of the Gozanti as the poor-man’s Theta/Titan. Why leave them vulnerable if you don’t have to.
@npswm13142 сағат бұрын
I think the idea that the Theta is for an active warzone deployment where air superiority isnt a certainty while the Gozanti is more for deployment into a QRF zone where the Empire has the air but needs heavy ground firepower or something to crush localized resistance.

I've never really thought that much about the logistics of Star Wars, unless it's the Republic. They did have the Acclamator and the different variants of the LAAT gunship. I love that Star Wars still has logistics, because it is quite important.

How about this as a head cannon justification for using the Theta over the Gozanti, AT-ATs did not do well when entering the upper atmosphere exposed to reentry heat and electrical activity of the upper atmosphere. So the Gozanti was better if you wanted to move walkers from one part of the planet to another part but worse at coming down from high orbit while holding walkers. Where the Theta was able to get to the drop point quicker, using its reinforced hull to protect that walker as it almost fell down to the surface before engaging its repulsors. It feels like a similar distinction between the Multi-Troop Transport (MTT) and Platoon Attack Craft (PAC). Were there are times you want cost efficiency and there are times you want some extra armor and firepower.

something important to remember is that redundant vehicle design is not bad or even uncommon. For instance, the AH1 Viper and the AH64 Apache are very similar in capability, but having both means that different manufacturing plants do not have to worry about making parts for the same thing with different tools and people. And if you run out of spare parts for an Apache, you can still fly your Vipers, etc. I can think of a lot of instances of this c 47 Skytrain and c 130 striker and Bradley AT 4 and Carl Gustav and all of those are in active service right now.

Don't forget height. It probably was too tall to fit properly in the area where the AT-ATs are kept. They can fit in the main open area, but couldn't load or unload the AT-ATs and would dangle out the "bottom" of the ISD. The Gazanti could just use cranes and tractor beams to attach them to the underside of the "wings".
@AdamTehranchiYTСағат бұрын
Being essentially box shaped the Theta and Titan could probably transport more stuff than the Gazonti even if you can strap stuff to the outside. It would probably take forever to set up a prefab base with the G or do some supply runs. I do wonder if they fold for storage, though. Great video 👍🏻👍🏻
@andrewwallace5237Сағат бұрын
They probably can’t the Gizanti probably can’t go into Hyperspace with anything attached other than like a tie fighter. AT-ATs are too heavy maybe

Force Commander had better ground battles than Empire At War.
@FastTquick15 минут бұрын
The Gozanti is for transporting walkers into secure areas where you need to intimidate rioters into submission. The Theta is for transporting walkers onto battlefields and you want them protected from artillery and flak cannons.
@Ptaaruonn2 сағат бұрын
Correct me if i'm wrong, but the wouldn't fit maybe it's because if you stuck 2 there the hangars would be blocked.
@hurricaneace1432 күн бұрын
Ok. I can see why the Empire would have multiple transports for overlapping roles.......corruption. simply put. Maximizing all potential builders with contracts for the imperial war machine would decrease (potentially) the Rebellion's ability to get transports of tge same type
@Alexzander1989Сағат бұрын
I'd always take the Theta or Titan over the Gozanti. Gotta keep your assets safe, and I'll trust the Theta's and Titan's heavy armor to do precisely that.

I see the gorenize as a Show of force slash. Ok the Threat of shotdown is nil we can go look mean. Think like it was use in Rebels. While the actual dropships are for dropping into hot zones. Think Clone Wars battles. Either way all three make sense to me cause of a few reasons. First the Empire is the type to waste money on many specialize deals. Just look at their Inspiration WW2 Japan and Germany was infamous for that as is was the Soviets. While even without the above it makes sense for a Step set up. Look at tge US Ch47 Ch53 UH60 and V22s helicopters. These dropships fill the same usage case of getting people and gear from the Boat to the combat AO. Or how theres 3 landing boats, The LCAC the LCM and LCU

I remember there was quite a bit of hype, around the game Force Commander, the first Star Wars 3D RTS game (before Empire at war), and it had so much potential but sadly this was in the very early days of 3D RTS games, and the controls were so primitively bad, and the animations were very lackluster. But they brought many interesting ideas to ground combat vehicles and units.

Wouldn't the walkers burn up in atmosphere or at least be damaged if the Gozanti carries them from space? If just base to base planet side do they make sense
@viperson9818Сағат бұрын
Just assume basically any land vehicle in Star Wars is capable of atmosphere re-entry. Even the at-te is capable.

I wonder how many Star Wars fans realized EA GAMES could have made a Star Wars and Dead Space cross over game and it actually would work and fit into the lore of Star wars Honestly, the Necromorphs and brethren moons could work in a star wars cross over what if Just have Typhojem, the god of the sith ( Big Brother of abeloth and Star Wars version of Cthulhu ), was shattered to pieces, which led to the creation of planets and moons I think you can realize where i'm going with this. Have the Dead Space markers be the Pieces of Typhojem that are trying to unify
@mawkishdaveСағат бұрын
Can a AT-AT survive in the vacuum of space or reentry? I can see the Gozanti used to shuttle then around in atmosphere but you need the extra protection to bring them in planet.

if the scene from the battlefront 2 campaign didnt exist the gozanti has never carried an actual AT-AT into battle

I think this is just another case of too many cooks in the kitchen (just like the old EU novels from the 1990’s). It js just so hard to maintain any continuity.

You can't load up a gozanti in an ISD can you? They might fit where the cr90 fits but there's literally no floor in that docking space I don't know how you're supposed to load up there

Disney's Rebels TV show reuse of the Gozanti - in my opinion - to the same bland reason Disney's Episode 7, 8 & 9 stuck to poorly executed "updated" X-Wing, TIE Fighter, etc. They cheapened the expanding universe George Lucas created and never cared for the mega franchise they ruined. They had a money maker that would have lasted for decades.
