I think we have a virus...
In this video, I delivered my THIRD deformed lamb in this group... which is NOT NORMAL!
Thank goodness my feed guy Jamie was around to casually mention Cache Valley Virus that has plagued Ontario over the last few years, but so far, I'd yet to see it here on my farm...
I took pictures of all different angles and sent them to my vet Rex, and right away, he agreed... looks like its Cache.
I googled some images, and wow... they sure look like what I'm seeing here.
Cache Valley Virus I believe gets transmitted by mosquitoes in the late summer, early fall months, so you won't really see the effects until winter lambing here. I also think, once a ewe has been infected, she is immune. (better fact check that tho!)
Other than that, a tiny success (for now) with a newborn I had thought would drink overnight, but clearly didn't. Worked all day with it, and by nightfall, it DRANK!!
