Hey Mike, on the reversible fan. It's a different fan, the fan blades actually move to change the pitch. The fan does not change the direction it's spinning, just the pitch of the blades.

I guess similar to an airplane propeller, the pilot can alter the pitch during flight to a more aggressive stance, & I also believe totally set the pitch to enable reverse thrust in order to aid braking upon landing. 🛩️

We have a JD 6190R, I'm almost afraid to pop the hood and even check the oil (they used to have nice doors on the side of the hood, but nooo). On that one at least it's insanely difficult to get it to freakin' latch. I have no clue why it's the same style hood or maybe we got a lemon.

the 1050 transmission is split in 2 so in a turn it can speed up the front when need it can also lock the front and back together to get better traction and when traveling at speed the front drive stops and the front axle is disconnected form the transmission so it free wheels for better fuel economy. also the turning via speeding up the front wheels is called a pull in turn others have done it but there clunky.

Get a chunk of blue silicon hose that's a little bigger then your hydraulic hose, slit it in half and put it over the hose. Then zip tie it or tape it. Any rubbing will be on the silicon hose.

Get a bicycle tire tube, cut it lengthwise, wrap it around the hydraulic hose for about five inches to keep the other hose from rubbing against it and use bailing wire to secure each end of the tube. Repeat on the other hose. One bicycle tire tube can be used to protect multiple hoses that are rubbing against each other. Replacing worn bicycle tire tube is far cheaper and much easier than replacing the more expensive hoses.

Accumulators help with low speed, low RPM steering. Without accumulators the hydraulic pump can't keep up at low speed especially when turning lock to lock.

Grampa always said nothing is greased unless grease is on the tires.. talking old grease guns from the 60s, 70s, they leaked like a sieve if not air locked. So always whipping grease hose against tire to clean excess black as coal grease off hose. Weaker zerk tips I guess plus just didn’t change out zerks back than when they wore out since typically kept machines 15 years.
