I always think that, too...but then in summer, I lament that it’s much too hot and I wished I’d accomplished more when it was nice and cool. Much outdoor work can get done, even in the snow, because all the activity keeps a person warm. I have this argument with myself every year, “wait ‘til it’s cooler, wait ‘til it’s warmer”... it’s either freezing cold or boiling hot where I live. Maybe it’s time to move.

I watch early 2019 videos....and think...wow...we didn't even know what's comin'.....we had it good back then....when our worries were laundry, washing dishes,...and keeping our kids entertained! Just shows....don't take anything for granted...hug and kiss your loved ones and tell them you love them....and still eat your broccoli...because it is good for you!

I can only imagine the challenges of the vast amount to snow y'all have. Here in Austin, Texas, we had nearly all four seasons last week. Cold of 39 one day, the next a nice spring like day of 65, followed by a near 90 degree summer day, and now a 60 degree rainy day with mid 70s in a few days. Shesh. Here, if you don't like the weather, wait 24 hours and it will change. Except summer, I think we have 6 months of summer.

I live in subtropical Queensland Australia. The seasons are a non-event here. It's hot (90-115F) for 8 months of the year. And in the winter I sleep in summer pyjamas, the windows are still open and I only have one light blanket on my bed. I hear many people lament the cold, I love the cold as it's a blessing and a relief when you are always hot. It is hard to get stuff done or feel motivated when your brain and body feels cooked.

I can't imagine living with snow like this. We get very c old and wet and blustery in winter in Tasmania, but snow is a rarity, and almost never satys on the ground. But at least you are compensated with a reliable "Last frost date" apparently, which doesn't happen for me. I am lucky to get 12 weeks without frost, but never know when they will be. My annual plans for growing tomatoes, beans, pumpkins, melons, cucumbers, peppers, etc are foiled almost every time. So while snow is much nicer to look at in a picture than to endure in reality, all still looks like blissful niceyness there to me!

Morning, When we for cabin fever we always wanted to get out. We would go for a ride and the frost heaves we're so bad we would hit our heads on the roof. We were home again before we new it. Ugh! you should invest in some cross country ski's, they are 1/2 the price in march or april. Just don't get the shoes fitted and mounts mounted until just before time to start learning next winter. They will be able to be passed down to the younger kids as the olders out grow them. We would take all of us out on a sunny day, ski for awhile stop and have a picnic lunch and then turn around. Good exercise and mind saving in the long months of winter. In Michigan we would get snowed in for days until a plow would do there jobs. My kids, and I loved it. No need for heavy clothing, just long underwear sweaters, vest and gloves. you get warm working the ski's

@The Elliott Homestead - LOVED this vlog post! Loving that drone footage, too, Stu! I've recently gotten out of my homemade Sauerkraut habit -- so thank you for the inspo to start again!!! Any advice on canning tomatoes? I've tried before and (don't get mad at me when you read this...) but since I live in a VERY temperate climate on CA's Central Coast, my canned tomatoes often get mold growing on them -- EVEN when I use pickle poppers and store waaaaaay back in my dark lower cupboards!? My weather year round only varies from about 55-95....so, there ya have it. Pro's and con's to all, right? Lastly: thank you for the REAL footage of the house....it makes me feel even more loyal to ya when I see peeps being REAL. xoxo

This may be a little late but I so agree with u Peter. Mindset is everything. Every single day is a gift. No matter what the weather, any and ALL days have the potential 2 be as amazing or purposeful as we make it. For me the terms 'cooped up' or classifying a cold February day as horrible is unheard of. I've seen far too many long term illnesses and deaths 2 Think that way. Every member of my family would have taken a winter day over a slow agonizing death had they had the choice. I see my life and its possibilities very differently as a result of those who have passed on unfulfilled. Thanks 4 the post. Wherever u are be safe well and happy.
