I used to hate FFXIV, I thought I'd never be able to get into it, but here I am with over a year spent online and having done every Ultimate Raid, Deep Dungeon and even Crystal Rank PvP and I want to share with you why I was able to fall in love with FF14.

As a fellow NieR goblin, I agree. The NieR alliance raid from Shadowbringers was also a big incentive for me to join the FFXIV cult... I mean, community. I even did the weekly quest after the raid so I could hopefully get a bit more lore from Yoko Taro.

The one time my FC asked me to help w a raid was such an amazing experience. I just know that unfortunately right now my schedule is way too hectic w my kids to commit to raid regularly and join a static or something. I'm hoping later on as my kiddos grow up more that I'll be able to experience more of that side of the game. Great video!

I can't wait until my kid is old enough to play. I think the best way to teach them how to play is to make them gather some serious money-making materials on my account. 🤣 It teaches patience and entrepreneurship, let alone basic motor skills required for the game. just be friendly, say hi in dungeons, ask people where they got their glam or minion, etc. people are generally really receptive and will chat with you and can eventually become friends! FCs make it easier but it's not a requirement. I was in a solo FC for a long time (~2.5 years), met some friends/static through Discord, and now 3 years later I run a decent sized FC with some friends

My first “proper” mmo experience I guess would’ve been Warframe. Spent a good few years on it, crossed the fabled thousand hours played mark within a year or two. But then the spark faded. Something changed, and I just couldn’t find a reason to play anymore, even just logging in was a strain, and the devs were losing my faith in record time. A dear friend that had also dropped Warframe offered FFXIV to me, saying to give the free trial a shot and go from there, with the hook of “you can be a short dragon girl” I’ve never looked back since. That was 2019, and I’ve never once lost my faith in yoshi-p and co, this game had made me laugh and cry more than any movie in my life

I was an avid traditional JRPGer, who hated MMOs. i grew up with EverQuest and Diablo 2,.and saw what those did to people. Swore id never do MMOs. Then, after 10 years of Final Fantasy Friends telling me to try XIV, i did. Been a year and a half now, i have 2000+ hours, and am a HC Raider now. What a journey this game can take a person on, lol.

I had a blast yesterday in FFXIV. All I did was chill at Gold Saucer and do some roulettes on my PLD. I played WoW for 14-years. I couldn't figure out what was missing by the end. Now I know--I need non-prog activities to do, from time to time. MMO's are about giving you things to do, and giving you the choice of whether or not to do them with other people. FFXIV does that better than any other MMO that currently exists. In one day, I can hit the Gold Saucer, do dungeons, raid, play an NPC for their Triple Triad card, buy a couch for my house, decorate it, clean the chocobo stable/train my chocobo, garden, do PvP, and check my retainers to see if they've sold all the Coke I've supplied them (God, this game is a fever dream🤣).

I really did have such a similar experience, at first you're stuck with this feeling when doing side-content of "am I wasting my time? why am I not progressing" but eventually you realise the side-content is comfy and you're having a good time and that you don't always need to be progressing towards some kind of big goal, and that for me is when the game started feeling like home

I would love to do high end raiding, however i have parkinsons and have problems seeing sometimes(basically im disabled from a legal perspective), so even easy mechanics will make me panic. I found some adds to help me actually play the game on story and do most of stuff, however savage and extreme are too hard. when i am stressed due to parkinson i cant control my presses. i do whish that ff14 would implement better tools for disabled people in game so we don't have to rely on outside help to actually finish something easy. some friends they said they will carry me but dunno how can someone carry anyone in an ultimate...

I played NexusTK, Ragnarok Online, RF Online, Atlantica online, Eden Eternal. Then think, I shouldnt play MMO because I went crazy grind everytime. FFXIV, started just for msq, started extremes, Learn to do Savages, after P8s, P10s, and P12s. Then tried UWU. Hey it's not that bad actually, Savages experience really helped. cleared few times, now onto UCOB and TEA.

i got into the game at aroung 6.4 or 6.5 and i pretty much blitzed the story. arr was awful to get thru but heavswards onwards i was hooked. after i completed the story i started to do extremes to get the mounts and i had such a blast with them. at one point in eureka i saw my bf on the wiged snake mount and i asked where to get it. he said it was old savage content and i probably wouldnt want to get into savage at all...i blitz the savage raid on unysnced and solo up until exdeath savage. i wiped so many times. i then asked my bf to help me clear it just ourselves and he said he got it thru an unsynced full party session and didnt know the fight as well as i did. i eventually convince him to learn it with me and man... that was so much fun. we then did the kefka figh savage as a duo (war and gnb if ur wondering) and still had a blast. not long after that we found an eden titan savage session for the 4 seater mount and we hopped in and got it. the full party was certainly easier, but didnt feel quite as fun. tho to be fair, the group was really nice and we hung out their fc to take pics to celebrate. we ended up staying there for a while at this fc just comparing mount sizes between the different races and apparently the mech dragon (that u get for getting all gwibs) is a 2 seater..never knew till then. i know there are toxic people in the savage teir but to me that teir will hold such a special place in my heart for showing me just how fun the harder content could be. i still want to eventually get to ultimates but for now, im happy just trying to learn the ew extremes and trying not to spend all my time on crafting and fishing. i already loved the side content but savage tier made me love raiding again. that flying snake mount will always be my most treasured mount in the game. (maybe ozma will replace it if i ever finish that hydatos grind. yyyy is the last zone so stingy with its crystals :c)

God I feel this. I played a dozen free MMOs as a kid, from Perfect World down to the bottom of the barrel. I thought I was allergic to hotbar combat, standing in place waiting for cooldowns to tick. I looked everywhere for 'quirky' action MMOs like Vindictus, Black Desert Online, and Warframe instead. I put up with BDO, but Warframe's the only one that _really_ stuck with me. FFXIV takes so many things I saw implemented _badly_ in BDO, and shows me what they're _supposed_ to look like. Emotes are for communicating with your friends, not just cheesy photo-ops; dye and transmog are quick, easy, and fair. NPCs act like they give a shit about the plot. ARR was a struggle on keyboard. I could hit _maybe_ six of my Dragoon abilities consistently, but I actually kind of enjoyed the slowness of the story. It felt like it took its time to flesh characters out. I resolved to 'deal with' the gameplay so I could enjoy the story -- but then I switched to controller when I unlocked Red Mage and Samurai _and that's when the game locked me in._

For entirely different reasons I also hated MMOs, since I thought they were all becoming meaningless grindfests and the ones that were truly fun were dying out, or had already, or did not offer the kind of world I was interested in. I've been playing FF14 since Stormblood's release because friends of mine told me about it, and I decided to join because of the Samurai class, which I still main to this day. FF14 was a massive timesink, but not a grindfest, which to me was something of a breath of fresh air, and not to mention it's world was incredibly well put together. I went from interested, to invested, and to enamored. I balance the line these days now, and probably won't be anywhere near as excited as I was for Endwalker which was the definitive end to the saga the game had been playing out since Realm Reborn, but I think for as long as the developers show their constant love and care for the community and the game, I'll probably keep playing. This game also keeps me connected with a good chunk of my friends too.

You're always gonna run into the bad apples, but realistically people in Ultimates have a far higher tolerance for wiping because its just so expected when you prog. As long as you're being truthful about your prog point, I've seen very few people get genuinely mad in comparison to like a savage fight where someone shits their diaper because you wipe 3 times before seeing the prog point or clearing etc. Good luck in ucob though, definitely one of my favourite ultimates!

For years, FFXIV for me was always the Tantalus golden fruit ever beyond my reach. I could not afford a regular subscription MMO let alone one meeting the minimum spec requirements of my potato laptop. Settling rather for F2P games like MapleStory, Eden Eternal, LaTale, DragonSaga, and Wonderking in building a social circle around. Eden Eternal proved particularly handy in preparing me for the more puzzle-based battle mechanics FFXIV would throw at me. What I found refreshing apart from other games was that FFXIV encourages cooperation vs. competition. Gone were the days of being PvP fodder to whales. Rather, doing your best to carry the team across the finish line either raiding, or in dungeons. This is even without touching the key element of storytelling, and how your own OG feels special in a world of many.
