I paint my cars, it is not easy and you have good equipment there. Imagine if you tried to do it at home! :-) I do custom paint jobs worth over ten thousand dollars minimum. Now you can understand how much work it is and why we have to charge so much just to make a living. Materials are not cheap either. You probably used about a thousand dollars in materials at a retail price. This is my hobby I am retired now and just enjoy painting something it is like a piece of art to me. I make them look amazing and get thumbs up when driving the cars I have completed. I only do my own cars and trucks now. But that is what really makes me feel good. The recognition for all the hard work! Good you got a chance to be involved to really understand it is not easy work. YUo9u had it really easy there with all the best tools. Many have to sand a lot by hand and do a lot more to achieve the same results. Great video! Thanks for sharing! Take care and God bless you all!

Most of the time with body work is defo the prep. Doing that yourself is a good way to save some money on a paint job. The paint guys dont mind that either as the prep aint there favourite part of process.....nice work guys.

Like you Rich, I WILL NEVER PAINT A CAR... I hate painting...in general... That said, I just got my Jeep Yj back from the paint shop... It took 3.5 weeks for him to get it done and the whole jeep wasn't painted, maybe about 60% of it. One because there was a lot of prep work, and two, he was down an employee or two due to COVID related issues... I'll tell you one thing though... It looks so badass!!!!

The fading on the plastics, i once used trim restore and it was just darn spray paint and looked like crap. What I now only use is a heat gun. Brings back the OE black plastic color come back to life. Just don't stay in one spot for the heat or it will melt.

15:00 hmm i´ve seen some guys use a heat gun to make the plastik dark again apparantly that works with some of the bumpers that are bleached by sunlight because the heat reorganises the molecueles or something like that, but never tried it myself but was an awesome view to see it turn black again in video, but that could have been a visual effect but to be honest that would have been way to expensive to make such work

I have to say painting cars is the most rewarding thing after all the time and effort to fix, prep, mask, assemble and fit your parts there is the reward nothing can match than painting. Face it, fixing cars is rewarding as well as frustrating. But when finished its always nice to see them leave. Then you get to start all over again.

They have rubber eraser type fitting things online that go into a regular drill that will do the same thing as his rubber wheel tool thing. Cheap and just as effective.
