As a subscriber from basically the start of your channel I just wanted to give you my two cents in what I see as a normal everyday view of your output. I originally subbed as you were doing a lot with 3d printing. I wanted to get into the hobby and your videos were clear concise and entertaining and I learned a lot. It made me very happy to find you were into woodworking also later on and I think that is where I began to watch your videos more and more. Here was a guy that combined and grabbed my attention with two subjects I like and no other KZbinr was doing this... It was either woodworking OR 3d printing. Your videos on selling woodworking projects you made, for let's face it, astronomical pricing were good but I personally felt this drove other woodworking KZbinrs to try and copy the same idea and tables and book case videos started appearing with ridiculous pricing. Your newer videos seemed to have gone down the lifestyle route of van life and a lot of kitting out the van which is still technically woodworking but this is where my personal interest has nose dived. While van life is interesting, you seem to be turning the channel into a relationship, travel and lifestyle channel. I'd point you to the KZbin channel "DIY wife" which up till a while ago were doing great woodworking and DIY videos and then decided to do a travel and family series and basically abandoned their original audience and I completely lost interest to be honest. I just checked their channel and they used to get 250k+ views on videos about diy and now their last few videos are having trouble breaking 20k views lately. you got to remember why people subbed to you in the first place. Would if not make more sense to open a second channel and put all your non 3d printing and woodworking related output? It would also stop the views from tanking. At the end of the day this is only my personal opinion. You sir are a very talented maker and your other half is really stunning and talented in your videos and I really enjoy your output but your latest videos are way off from why I originally subscribed.

You guys are a great couple, and are doing something fresh and inspiring, which inevitably will bring about some dark haters. If you don't have haters is because you are not affecting the world. So, it's a fact of life, don't take it personal. Keep up with the great job.

I love how you're so supportive of each other, and also self-aware ("are you calling me a people-pleaser?!?" cracked me up). Something a friend told me that's been super helpful: if someone is being very negative, that's an indicator that they're in a lot of pain. I don't want to feel superior to them; I don't want to pity them; I _do_ want to shift my perspective away from their comments and onto why another person would act that way. Doesn't excuse their behavior, but knowing why they're being like that, to me, is very helpful.

I found Edens' comment about finding it difficult to separate a negative comment about the video from being a negative comment about herself. I feel like that sentiment resonates with any creative field. As a choir teacher, I often need to counsel my students about how to accept even helpful criticism. The thing with singing is that your voice is made of you, so if someone criticizes your voice, it feels like they have attacked you. I don't think it's possible to put your creative heart into something without feeling that. Add on the random vitriol of the internet, and you've got a recipe for a lot of internal turmoil. You two are so lovely to watch. I wish you luck with your public journey... and your actual journey!!

Your doing great Eden, and one thing about comments I find is when you get an actual reply or a heart that feels pretty special too for the person who made the comment, sometime you know if I word this right then you may get a reply :) and remember 99% of comments maybe read but don't get a reply. It makes it a more special bond that you watch and know that your comment is valued. :)

I've worked so long in the content and digital marketing space, I can tell you for a fact that many negative comments are generated on purpose to build audience for that person. If they can get enough reaction, it will drive traffic to their channel. Your approach to them is the exact right approach, Morley; ignore and move on. In fact everyone should try to practice this so we don't give these channels audience and interactions and they die.
@tophlaw4274 Жыл бұрын
sadly it is the world we live in where the anonymity of the Internet has bred spiteful vipers who take joy in trolling & pushing emotional buttons... so just ignore them, Eden, rather than try to make sense of what they meant or question yourself thereby giving the negativity power over you. that said, although I miss Morley's builds I still enjoy seeing how you crazy kids interact & it's fun to see Eden's padawan journey into making. so more power to you guys! ;) cheers!

The truth is, when somebody attacks you in the comments section it is a personal attack. The thing to remember is that it says way more about the person who feels the need and entitlement to say something thoughtless, cruel or just plain mean. That person is letting you know who They are. Don't make the mistake of thinking they know anything about who You are. Their comments have nothing to do with you and everything to do with them.❤
@ericbrockhus251810 ай бұрын
It is great that there is a way to keep working on the channel and go for a new adventure. For a lot of people that is not possible. And just keep in mind that it is impossible to make everyone happy in your life. You have to live your own and now the channel will change. Good chance you will loose a part of the fan base that will not be interested in this change. But on the other hand new people will come to watch that do think that this new direction is nice and will subscribe. And for sure there will be negative comments too. The internet is the best place for trolling since it is anonymous and can be done from the chair in relaxed position. Nobody likes negative comments but just try to filter the essence out of it, maybe chance something because you got some idea from it and beside that just focus on the positive side. And even if the channel will be less populair for a while, you have less costs since I suppose the van will cost you far less than living in the house. You only have one life and time goes sooo fast. I was feeling like a million dollars until 35 but after you slowly start to degenerate bit by bit. My wife and I made a 4 month trip when I just left school and she was at work for one year after university. We travelled asia by backpacking and it was just the trip of a lifetime. Been Mongolia, China (and Tibet, that is also China but is totally different), Nepal, thailand and Malaysia. Been from -25 degrees celcius in Tibet over 5000m elevation in a monastary near Everest basecamp to almost 40 degrees celcius in the Malaysian jungle. It was great. And so will the two of you feel from your adventures. Meet so many people. See different cultures. And ofcourse will have moments when everything seems to go down the drain. But most of the time everything will turn again and you will have one more story to tell too your grand kids one day. enjoy!!

My two cents after watching this video: 1) Pay a 3rd party to go through all your comments. Have them filter/bubble-up the positive ones and any with constructive legit feedback (even if it's negative), and all the drivel, they don't bubble-up. So you two only need to see the comments that uplift you and/or actually provide actionable / helpful feedback 2) Have these kinds of non-project chats on a 2nd channel specifically for this kind of content. As a content consumer, it feels very disjoined and leaves me confused.
