As a professional rigger, this was a little painful to watch, but i commend the effort!! If you're ever gonna try this again, Heres a big tip; work on the small stuff first, then work your way up! Same with the deformer heirarchy! Also; Z goes above everything else! ALSO, increase your warp deformer divisions if you want more detailed warping!! Art style is 0 issue if you warp right :> the brush selection tool and increased divisions are your friend when it comes to distortion!

Utilizing a layer's opacity to hide or bring out said layer is also very helpful! This allows variations of parts to be drawn that can then be morphed into and smoothly transitioned between such as for situations like the mouth & eye blinks. It's the method used for creating more extreme turning angles by drawing a profile and side profile head that can then be morphed and transitioned between.

suggestion for eyes: 1. make the mesh by hand, make the points follow the curve of the actual eyelid so when it is deformed, the program doesnt have a aneurysm. 2. USE THE 4-DIVISION TOOL. it will help the animation SOOOO much. (the auto connect button does too!! i suggest looking up an entire tutorial for mesh making, it takes time but its very helpful!) 3. when using the curve tool, only use as much as you need for the line to follow the eyelid. i usually only use 3-4, and it makes it so much more simple.

Hi! I just wanted to give a couple live2d tips! If you make other outfits, instead of re-rigging everything from scratch, import the new elements (without the elements that will stay the same) as another psd file and put its layers inside the deformers you use for that part of the body or face. After that, check the movement of the parts on every parameter and move some stuff if needed. I reccomend deleting the physics that have to do with those deformers first though. Also, there is an option to mirror movement! Click the three lines on the parameter window and then there should be an option to mirror after selecting a deformer or a layer. This next tip probably wouldn't work for this avatar, since her eyes aren't the same, but I'll still leave it here for anyone who wants to give live2d a go! After you finish the blinking and smiling for one eye, you can duplicate the layers and the deformers and then flip them to have both eyes blinking, if you also want your model to be able to wink, select the duplicated eye and click the same three lines i talked about before on the parameters window and select the option to move the selected objects to another parameter. The result is the other eye blinking just as well as the first one you made! Hope i explained well and that this helped even just a bit! (If I remember any other tips i would like to give I'll add them in the replies)
@ViiLly3 жыл бұрын
For the first tip, you also should probably delete the avatar's clothes from before, or they will overlap. And for the last one, delete the un-used eye (you could also delete it from the start, but I don't recommend it because it acts as a reference to place the duplicated eye)

A really quick tip for people who do thicker lines! Instead of using the default "simple" mesh preset and leaving it at that, use the highest count one and then go and edit it to have a ring around the lineart! It makes it slightly easier to deform without it looking jank! It might seem a little tedious but you don't have to do it for every single mesh, hope I explained it well! ( I hope to maybe make a full live2d tutorial series in the future so If i do i will leave a reply about it!

I've considered making a v-tuber. I decided my theme would be glitches and bugs, because I thought that'd excuse any flaws I end up with, making the overall project easier. As I think about it though, I realize that, although it doesn't require as much artistic skill, it requires a lot more technical thinking, as well as trying to think of how to randomize changes to the model mid-stream. For the base art, I was thinking of either using either something that's a mix of various generic/default models, OR taking inspiration from MissiongNo. and pulling the base image from junk data, and then rigging the decompressed and rendered junk data as if there's a humanoid there.

I've made a Vtuber model before, actually, I'm making a second attempt right now. I use an anime-type style and looking at this cartoony style makes me realise that a cartoony style might need more layer separation for certain parts, maybe drawing the halfway point instead of the default to rigging would be easier later on.

I'm curious, may I see the model?
@thincut_bacon2 жыл бұрын
@@xEUN01A I'm sorry, I don't know how to show you. But to elaborate, I just mean that when drawing parts, it may be better to draw them at the half way point on default. For example, when drawing eyes, instead of drawing the eyeline/eyelashes when they are open, draw the as a line or half closed so you can transform then more easily. Same goes with the mouth, drawing a straight lined mouth instead of having a smiling mouth on default. And just draw the eyes or mouth shape you want separately as a sketch to base off your parameters.

quick live2d tip for the chunky lineart vs warp deformer thing!! you can separate the colour and lineart of an object and just put them on the same deformer, then nest another deformer for the lineart. whenever the lineart deforms/doesnt look right, you could always just go back to that lineart deformer, add keyforms to the parameter that you want, then warp it to make it look right! i've seen some live2d riggers separate the lineart so they can manipulate the object look more 3d, i've even experimented with it myself, so I'm sure it can work for your case too!
@rainingcatsandjune3 жыл бұрын
i'm just gonna add more tips because I'm procrastinating on my live2d creative awards project,,, the eye line crunching thing could be lessened if you auto mesh it to be more detailed or manually editing the artmesh. alternatively, you could throw the path tool right out the window and just use the warp deformed to squish it into place lol if you want a more detailed mouth/want to be able to lip sync in the future, you could separate each layer of the mouth (mouth inside, tongue, bottom teeth, top teeth, bottom lip, top lip) and form them in the parameters into each vowels. overall, your first ever live2d model looks really really good!! things look in place, minimal shifting, lots of movement, very much better than my first ever model,,,,, can't wait for your next part :D

Yep. Difficulties with the eyes. I'm really glad you took off the bandaid and such. It makes the face a lot clearer. I can't wait to see the debut! Also, I just realized that KZbin unsubscribed me from your videos which is why I just found out that you became a vtuber. Welcome to the team. lol

Hi :D! I've made a few models myself and wrestled with live 2d long enough to have some pretty useful tips in this noggin of mine so I thought i'd share some! I noticed you were having problems with your lineart getting warped? The best way to combat that is to make the meshes yourself instead of having them auto-create at the start. It's SUPER tedious don't get me wrong, but if you carefully surround the inner and outer edges of your lineart before filling the rest in, it will move the lineart a little more independently then the space inside. Following any details or curves in each part, especially in the hair sections, also works really nicely! This is also what prevents your eyes from "crunching"! The more points in the eye area, the better honestly XD although you might want to use LESS of those curvy deform paths since it'll keep things smoother. The "Melting" and weird warping can be helped by editing the amount of points in your warp deformers. If you scroll down in the Inspector tab while having a warp deformer selected, you can change the number of gray points and green points. This is really helpful for stuff you gotta be really precise with when moving. It can be super frustrating when the green points aren't where you need them to be, yknow? You can also use the brush with circles around it tool on the top toolbar! It allows you to move multiple points at once instead of one at a time which feels MUCH more natural to work with. You can also add any images you want as guide images directly into the file itself! To help with confusion on how to handle the face, I honestly just draw out a guide and use it as reference XD it helps things look a lot more 3D, too! I hope this helps

Maybe something that might be pretty neat would be a little ear wiggle animation that happens randomly or just soft floppy ears in general?

@TheGokayorsel3 жыл бұрын
At the end it looked really great. My concern is that, how is that gonna translate to the motion tracker? Since your real eyes are not that big, and you don't have any flappy ears, how is the camera gonna get that information? Do they just flap when you turn your head? Eye movements are really small and subtle, is the tracker gonna be able to translate that info well?
@sherbetron3 жыл бұрын
Dwdw Vtube studio is specifically for anime/cartoon characters The ears will flap when she moves her head
@wiiink3 жыл бұрын
yea the program kinda just knows because it's meant for this, it knows that they're eyes so it'll blink them when yours blink and you can have stuff like the ear movement to happen automatically like breathing movement or based on other movement she makes
@pigeontoes54213 жыл бұрын
Normal inputs -> non-trackable outputs For example, moving the head will flap the ears, and blinking normally (open eye = 1 and closes eye = 0) will translate to the same thing on the parameters the rigger created. (Model eye 1 and 0)

As someone who has made both their own and several other Vtuber models at this point completely from scratch, I feel these struggles on a very deep level lmao. I've also got a very chunky line art and kinda toony style and figuring out how to move everything without the linework distorting too much has been a struggle and a half. I think you've done a pretty fantastic job so far though!

This is looking so cool, I’ve been wanting to make one but don’t have the effort but this has inspired me . I’ll have to draw it on my laptop which I don’t normally do but that’s fine because of the fact ProCreate doesn’t allow a whole lot of layers

@@korealspiderman animating pre-existing images and art is normally counted as a different category than 2D, 12-24 fps hand drawn frames! what you said in your comment could be misconstrued as kinda condescending since lavender IS an animator.
