Man things are just things don’t over think it, it says a lot about you the fact you tried to find the owner, that’s good… but move on, enjoy it, it’s not like you are holding someone else’s cure for cancer, we love cameras, we enjoy to shoot, but it’s just a camera… yeah… an expensier one, but it’s just a piece of metal, I bet the owner would be happy to know some one is giving it a good use.

Don't feel guilt. You rescued the camera. You did, and will do, the right thing.

The Canon 50mm looks great on the M3! I use that lens on my Canon P and I’m always impressed by the results! They don’t call it the Japanese summilux for nothing!

M3’s have a .91 magnification, mate. Not a .58 as you mentioned. That would mean suited for wide angle lenses.

Didn't expect you to get so real at the end. I could hear how much the responsibility of taking care of the camera meant to you.

You speak with such passion for preserving the camera as if it was given to you by someone you love. To have that respect and positive pride in this era is rare. This ability you display is a key reason I've been watching you for a few years. 💜

I'm sure someone has already stated it in the comments, but the M3 has a Rapid Load conversion kit which makes the loading similar to the M6. I don't own either cameras, but I've seen it around, maybe something to look into.

A 30 dollar Leica, what a great find. I'd say the camera is in the hands of someone that will really appreciate it. My wife works in a church thrift store in a small town and I go over any cameras that come in to make sure they are in good working order. If they ever get in a Leica I'd probably wet my jeans !

Still a lucky find. I'm still joules you are that lucky to find those two cameras.

The infinity lock on that lens is fairly easy to remove. Needle nose pliers and a small screwdriver. I used a cloth glove from the pack I bought to handle my negatives between the button and the pliers to stop scratches and improve the grip as the button will just spin with the screwdriver otherwise. The spring is internal so you just end up with the button and the screw. I rejoined them and tossed them in a small bag with a label of what it is in case I ever decide to sell that lens.

Watched a video last night from you where you said you were gonna stop making thrift videos if you find a Leica or something like that, you cannot make this up. Wow, nice!

I also thrifted Pentax spotmatic F + 55mm F1.8 takumar in japan. For only 8$, and works well, except for lightmeter.

I disagree about the loading system. It’s no issue. The difference in time to load is less than 20sec in 5 years and approx 120 rolls of film never felt that the loading time coast me a shot.

oh shit i JUST watched the video where you found it, I'm so happy you posted this lol

Look up cold shoe multi use adapter it allows you to mount the light meter sideways and you can stick a flash above
@Francois_L_7933Күн бұрын
I don't know if anyone still does that but I know that the M3 can be updated to use the tulip winder instead of the regular take-up spool.

Mate don't feel guility, your lecia find reminds me of Taylor from Autoalex getting his BMW 635csi for 25 pounds. He did the same thing as you trying to find the owner but never found him, so he kept it and says its his favourite car that he will never sell.

Of Course it found you. That you were looking for cameras may have played a part though...... Seriously, while there shouldn't be any feelings of guilt on your part, there absolutely should be joy in knowing the camera has a good, forever home and that its journey forward will be in the hands of someone who appreciates the camera and will show it the love it deserves.

Drop the location to the thrift store for us man lol I have no luck in finding any gems. I'm in the East Coast and it seems like thrifts now and days are marked up "vintage" spots.

"I thrifted a Leica..." what are you trying to say? To thrift? There is no such verb in English.
