I used to tell my homie something all the time. Just cause the music good doesn’t mean everyone will hear it. The artist should focus on making good music and have a partner to focus on market strategies

What I've learned about the Spotify thing from my personal experience (I'm a producer)... I recently worked with an Independent R&B artist who we released a song via KZbin and saw 4.4M streams YTD on the video... however it was the release of the lyric video which has 2M streams YTD that prompted even shooting a video and then another 2M streams YTD on the Art Track supplied to KZbin... this then prompted the artist to make the song available on DSPs and this is where things get interesting... we have 12M streams YTD on Apple Music while we have 1M streams YTD on Spotify with the original release date on KZbin being Feb 14th, 2023... this then prompted local radio support where we saw about 2K radio spins... what this taught me is that majority of the people who would identify with the music THAT I MAKE have an iPhone in their hand and tend to stay in the Apple ecosystem (Apple Music). Spotify has created this illusion to indie artist as the place you need to excel by how they have positioned themselves as the metric for Billboard... but Spotify, to me, is not a fair playground - record companies< specifically Universal, own stock in Spotify... so them clearing out the payment to lower performing music only increases the payouts back to artist at the top who typically are gonna be aligned with the major labels who have stock in the platform... most artist signed to major labels WILL NEVER RECOUP - so Spotify just lined the pockets of their investors... now they're firing 17% of their staff and who knows how much that's clearing up in their bottom line. I say all that to say... only two P's matter: Perception and Perspective

Hey bro, after seeing this video I had to check out your music and you Bangin, but I think you are right about the CD's, vs streaming, We thought this would bring us some opportunity, but I see 1) Pay Facebook for ads, then you might see some results, then, 2) Facebook triples the price of the ads, and that pushes it outside your budget, 3) my listeners go up and down like the stock market, like are being turned on and turned off and it gets depressing and you question yourself, Keep making good music, cuz it's being manipulated, suppressing plays, unclicking your likes, Mixing up artist Data and paying the wrong artist, and complete Data swap, I had 2 accts, one was slow and the other took off, then the numbers were traded with the slow acct and it started to pick up, but not like the original acct, now they're both at the lowest point, and this is my second year watching my listens being unclicked down to 15 people, Keep at it .

I feel like the roadmap to success is different for every artist (content creator)... I feel like a lot of Artist push their music to audience's that their music don't resonate with... but I also feel like Spotify operates in the legacy model of record labels... like Artist historically haven't seen money from the streaming (or sale of their music)... Artist have always done better when they can sale something (tickets, merchandise) and for the indie Artist - that includes CD's

The best observation is not to observe but focus on what you are doing. You cannot fix the world. Prince and Michael Jackson did music but if they focused on Sony they wouldn't continue to do music. You can't calculate your way to success. It happens when it happens, trying to work it out will leave you feeling hopeless.

Actually that’s not true, and Michael Jackson even explained how Sony was so focused on him as just being a artist that they didn’t even see him coming when it came to business. He ended up owning the Beatles masters and he owned a majority stake in Sony. But you see how that worked out for him….

But I listen to you on Spotify and Apple Music
