0:32 If you can see that, you ain't in heavy light pollution. Folk inside(!) big cities, like myself (I'm bortle 8-9), can rarely count more than a handful of stars on any night with their eyes. I'd gladly swap you my sky for yours ;) But yes, the darker the better.

Thanks for the comment. Yep, that is a long exposure image and that's why we see more stars. I usually only see a handful of the brightest stars and I'm Bortle 8.

Im split on what Id like to purchase as my next scope, Im prioritizing a mount first as the one I have is already too small for the 8 inch telescope I have, and can barely handle my newest 6 inch, both in the same Quattro series as yours. I dont know if I want an 8 inch Cassegrain or keep with the theme and get a big brother for the other two and get the 10 or 12 inch Quattros. I prefer the weight of the 10 inch as I have to lug my set up in and out of my garage each night, the 12 inch seems impractical at almost 60 pounds, but at the same time Im not sure if just two inches more on aperture is worth going for the 10 inch instead. In any case a wonderful image! Youve got yourself a new sub!

I would definitely get a bigger mount. I was at the same point as you are now and got a used EQ-6 heavy duty mount. It was great and that's why I upgraded to the EQ6-R Pro later, thanks to all the reviews online. It handles the 10" Quattro well but requires an additional counterweight. I think your 8" Quattro should be more than enough to take some awesome DSO pictures. Check out what Eric Pirtala does using his 6" Newtonian! However, I would recommend to get the Starizona F/3 coma corrector/reducer. I've tried regular coma correctors with my Quattro scope and they didn't produce sharp stars at the corners of an APS-C sized sensor. My opinion on a Cassegrain - too slow for long exposure photography. Anyway, good luck with your projects and clear skies!
