Just found your channel. Very interesting content. Not many photographers will take their time to speak about projects and sequencing. Most of the photohraphy releated channels focus mainly on the technical side. I'm currently forcing myself to work more on the projects and in particular editing my work. I think that's the hardest part of the photography process, especially when i must take out photos, cause i am emotionally connected with them... Keep up the Good work and I'm looking forward to your next video 📸

After creating my Alex Webb video I was pretty interested in what goes down in their workshops. Cool to see you speaking on your experience.

Thanks for sharing! I'm taking the 2-day FYV workshop with them later in the year and waffling over whether to do the "shooting" or "editing" option. Mine's in a much less picturesque location (that I don't know at all), and I sadly don't have the luxury of going down early to figure out what I'd photograph ahead of time. I *can* make photos anywhere, ofc, just questioning whether making them under pressure is the most productive use of my time with them :)

Nice!! If you have a project you've been working on that is complete or nearly complete, definitely do the editing. The way they edit is just mind-blowing and to be able to apply that to your project is just...it will be incredible for you. Otherwise, just go for the shooting option. It's what I did and will probably do again as soon as I can afford it.

Hello thanks for the insight into this experience/process. I’m curious about the whole editing you speak about and “look”. Do you have one preset that you use for all your photos? Or just have a collection of photos from one area?
@RichardSilvius3 ай бұрын
@@brianlueders6223 Hi Brian! Im working on another video right now about editing, so stay tuned for that. As far as “look” I keep it really simple. I just go with the default profile of my camera, and might make some tweaks to exposure, WB and contrast. In most cases that’s it! If the need arises I might sometimes get into some masking but that’s the exception and not the rule.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the Webbs. Do you think you will take any additional workshops with them? Also curious if you can go more into your photographic goals/projects and how that relates to the workshops you are interested in.
@RichardSilvius4 ай бұрын
@chadrem Hi Chad, thanks for your comment! Yes - I do plan to take the workshop with them again in the future. I learned and am learning so much, that when I go back I know I’ll have much more/stronger work to show and will get a lot more out of it. I’m also interested in applying what I’ve learned as a street photog to more documentary style projects. Currently I’m working on something in Arequipa Peru, and my next video will be about starting to edit and sequence that work! (Edit: this Arequipa work is being done as a part of a *different* workshop I’m currently taking through the International Center of Photography online.)

I took a one week workshop with the Webbs in 2015. Best is to study the history of photography before doing it. Else, you might get disappointed cuz they will not teach you how to shoot layers. ;)
@RichardSilvius3 ай бұрын
Haha well you can't go wrong with learning your photo history! But they were very understanding in general, and at the end of the class they provided all of us with specific recommendations they thought we should study, as well as a general list of photographers that anyone should look at.
@deckmiller36523 ай бұрын
@@RichardSilvius I know how they conclude their workshop. I just want to set expectations cuz would be students might get disappointed.

I would suggest you show the photos blown up on the screen - it’s hard to see your photos as small prints in your hand
