@@rajeshgajwelly9035 Unfortunately, this is often not the case. The food standards in India (and many countries in the region, it's not as thought India is being singled out!) are severely lacking compared to its Western counterparts. Street food is notoriously an issue with this, though locals often develop somewhat of a tolerance to certain bacteria, so it hits everyone else much harder, and that may explain why you feel the food isn't normally a problem.

I mean did Air India hire people from Delta? The plane is Delta's, even the amenity kit is Delta's...nearly all the items in the kit are identical to Delta's. They kept sooo many Delta's cues on this plane that they didn't bother to change. The suite backing fabric is Delta's blue. They didn't even reprogram the mood light as that's the Delta's signature plum color.

I only flew Air India once. It was on 29/10/1996 riding VT-ESM (B744) from JFK-LHR in seat 47K. (Yep, I'm an AvGeek!) Right at rotation smoke started rolling across the ceiling. I was only a few rows behind where 2 flight attendants were on their rear facing jumpseats. They both jumped up and ran into the galley, discharged fire extinguishers at something. A few people were running up and down the aisles screaming. I thought we'd turn around and land which I'd be fine with. NOPE, no announcement from the flight deck and we proceeded to cross the pond to LHR. Just a weird experience which is why I can still remember it like it was yesterday.

Reminds me of a colleague who went to Delhi last year. Managed to avoid getting sick the entire time whilst they were in India just to get food poisoning on the flight back home!

Are you sure it was food poisoning, and not some kind of stomach bug?

Did Air India 15 hour flight chicago- delhi twice. Once was fine, the other time was screaming kids running around, horrible food, everyone needed a wheelchair and boarded early hell in the air. Economy y class both times as well. Yup, real fun.

😂😂 The wheelchairs are just so that they get priority boarding

Just for some background: I am an infectious disease epidemiologist and physician specializing in travel and tropical medicine. Even the most rapidly replicating GI infection-undoubtedly bacterial-would take at least 16 hrs to manifest itself, and almost certainly more than 24 hrs. As contaminated as the food may be on the plane, it probably has nothing to do with the symptoms.

What kind of misinformation are you trying to spread, I've gotten food poisoning that happened less than 16 hours after I ate the food in question, heck it was more like 5-8 hours, not to mention many other high profile food poisoning cases (recent one I can remember is the one from the Bytedance HQ in Singapore) certainly take way less than 16 hours. Honestly anyone can come on here and say "I am an infectious disease epidemiologist and physician specializing in travel and tropical medicine".. ridiculous.

@@discorangutan "High profile food poisoning" - what does this mean really? Getting showcased on CNN for puking your guts out? I don't disagree with your comment but that comes across as an absurd statement

Really? Certainly the NHS advice suggests a lot more variability than you indicate, and how do you know it’s bacterial?
@williamsullivan5382 ай бұрын
The ID Doc is correct. I am a primary care Nurse Practitioner, it just takes time for the bacteria to become pathological meaning symptomatic. Also, many people who believe they have food poisoning actually had a sensitivity reaction and not a true infection. This is quite common when people consume diets they are not used to. Trust the science.

I agree. It has something to do with Indian spices I believe that upsets Western stomachs. Not food poisoning.

Great flight and clearly massive improvements, such ashame about the food poisoning but you have to be honest and keep it real , I’m sure they will see or hear about this and look into preparing food better , I have faith cheers Noel

Omg.. Noel… that is sooo bad my friend. My heart goes out to you. I’m a professional chef and I know room temperature food is a NO NO. On a tour of the Canyonlands I had luke warm rice at a Mexican in Monticello.. my wife and my son both had bad guts the next day… I got caught short in Monument Valley literally in the middle of the desert … not pleasant at all.

There was only one guy in my company that was willing to travel to India. Too many had become sick when there. This guy was older and from the UK. Apparently he felt that his age was held in high regards and he was treated better there than at home.
