I only flew Air India once. It was on 29/10/1996 riding VT-ESM (B744) from JFK-LHR in seat 47K. (Yep, I'm an AvGeek!) Right at rotation smoke started rolling across the ceiling. I was only a few rows behind where 2 flight attendants were on their rear facing jumpseats. They both jumped up and ran into the galley, discharged fire extinguishers at something. A few people were running up and down the aisles screaming. I thought we'd turn around and land which I'd be fine with. NOPE, no announcement from the flight deck and we proceeded to cross the pond to LHR. Just a weird experience which is why I can still remember it like it was yesterday.

I mean did Air India hire people from Delta? The plane is Delta's, even the amenity kit is Delta's...nearly all the items in the kit are identical to Delta's. They kept sooo many Delta's cues on this plane that they didn't bother to change. The suite backing fabric is Delta's blue. They didn't even reprogram the mood light as that's the Delta's signature plum color.

Love your videos. I've only got food poisoning twice in the same hotel going in different directions. I stopped in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia 🇲🇾 as a stop over, going too and back from the UK. Going to the UK, the food poisoning didn't hit until I landed in Heathrow. When I came back to the same hotel on my way home back to Australia. I was at that hotel for less than 24 hours. It was more likely 12 hours. I had their buffet breakfast. It tasted very nice. I headed out to see the twin towers. Where I was walking around a shopping centre, I began not feeling well. I grabbed the first taxi back to my hotel. They say in Malaysia you have to barter the taxi fair. I didn't care, I just wanted to get back to my hotel. I think he charged me 20 Malaysian Riggits. I didn't care. I paid him and ran back to my room within minutes of me returning to my hotel. I became extremely unwell. I was extremely sick. It was so bad that my bathroom was covered in vomit. I had to ask housekeeping for a bucket. As it was coming out of both ends. I called the receptionist of the hotel asking for a doctor to come to my room. The hotel tried to convince me to take a taxi to a hospital. No taxi driver in their right mind would take me. They relented and got me a doctor. The doctor was fantastic. He gave me an injection to stop the vomiting and diahrea and a few sachets of electrolytes to rehydrate me. The doctor said that I had a very bad case of food poisoning. He was very concerned about me as I was travelling alone. So, he called me the next day just to check up on me. I went down the next day to the reception and paid the 800 Malaysian Riggits for the doctor. The hotel staff didn't trust me. They ordered me to sit as I looked extremely sick. The staff thought that I was going to collapse on them. I used their computer while they were doing all the paperwork for my doctor. They emailed me a questionnaire about their service. Of course, I told them that I got food poisoning from their breakfast. Later that day, I received a knock at the door. There stood about 4 men. The hotel owner, the hotel manager, the kitchen manager, and someone else whom I don't know what they did. They questioned me on everything I ate and whether it came from them. I told them I only ate at their restaurant. They jotted down everything I ate. They even gave me something in compensation. You'll never guess what my compensation was. It was a complimentary meal at one of their restaurants. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you have food poisoning. The last thing you're thinking of is food. I would rather have a gift voucher to the gift shop than a free meal. It was a good thing that I was in Malaysia for a week because that's how long I was sick. On my last day, I had the strength to eat my free meal. I chose their most expensive restaurants to eat. While eating my meal, the kitchen manager kept checking on me, making sure that everything was OK. He asked me about the time my flight was to Australia. It was around 6am. if my memory serves me correctly. The buffet wasn't open then. So, he asked me what I like for breakfast, and I would get room service on them. I told him bacon and eggs and coffee. Morning came, and so did my breakfast. I was just expecting a couple of slices of bacon, a couple of poached eggs, and a slice of toast. Well, it was more likely a mountain of bacon, a half a dozen eggs, a half a loaf of toast, 2 orange juice, 2 coffees, and 2 fruit salads. I was still full from the night before and still hadn't fully recovered from the food poisoning. To say the least, I couldn't eat it all. I was surprised that my flight on Malaysian Airlines could fly with me on board after eating that mammoth breakfast. I was glad that I had 7 days in Malaysia as there would be no way I could fly in that condition.

The toiletries aren’t unbranded. Malin+Goetz is the brand. They are brand standard at Le Meridien hotels (or used to be). The sticker is to get it monogrammed and attach to the Tumi case.

Yeah, if I remember the TUMI store used to do the monogram for free probably still do

Good on you for still recommending them in spite they made you suffer from food poisoning. As per their improvements and their position in the future, I think they will be in a okay-ish airline . It would have been very tough for you to recommend considering what you have gone through after the flight have safe journeys.

They’ve just started flying their A350 into Heathrow, you have to try that one out plus stock up on Imodium 😂

Last summer, I did a 6 week Southeast Asia trip (Laos --> Vietnam --> Philippines). I was pleasantly surprised at how much they improved as I did not contract food poisoning at all on that trip. Apparently, India hasn't improved that much yet.

I lived in the Middle East for 3 years in the 90s and the ONLY time I ever got food poisoning was from a very expensive high end Indian Restaurant. All of the times I ate in street cafes I never had an issue

I flew out of Bangalore recently with BA. The worst plane food I have ever experienced. So much so I left it! Wouldn’t be surprised if the same caterers are used for multiple airlines.

Sorry you weren’t well mate. There were hints on the way: 0:41 elevator doors opening sounded like a toilet flushing. The “Tumi” amenity kit 😔 Aside from that, they have improved by the looks of it ☺️
@Moonstone-Redux3 ай бұрын
I know TUMI is well known for their ballistic weave bags but an eye mask made out of ballistic weave does seem quite like overkill.
Not to be the bad omen but that's the sound of the water fall, not the elevator. You an clearly hear it the entire time he is in that lobby.

Another great Noel review. Hard product looked pretty good. I wouldn't eat anything that was at room temperature - although it's possible you picked something up in the loo or just touching something. Good that Air India appear to have improved.

Wow that lounge was epic!
@anna-marianunezvega15203 ай бұрын
I absolutely hate this lounge. The BLR-SFO flight departs at 13:50, most international flights in India are departing in the night. That's why the lounge was so empty in his video. In the night (last experience is only 10 days ago, BLR is my home airport), the lounge gets super packed. I find the vibe horrible and so is the food. The new 080 lounge we had in terminal 1 was sooo much better! The new domestic lounge in terminal 2 is great. The whole domestic terminal is great. But the new international terminal is sub-par (except for the plants of course. My first impression was "wow", but the domestic part in terminal 2 is so much better!
