You can take the train to Naples and Pompeii for a day or 2! Very worth seeing. You'll get to see rural areas of Italy on the train ride.

Thanks for taking time to come to Rome Drew! Loved hanging with you and your Dad. Hopefully the first of many cities together

You want to see cities truly stuck in this era then please check out the Azores. It's a group of independent Portuguese islands in the middle of the Atlantic. The islands, the towns, the cobble stone roads and the architecture feels like you're standing in the middle of Pompeii. Most of them speak perfect english nowadays ad the best part, its unknown with no tourist traps. Lisbon in mainland Portugal is literally older than Rome. Built by the Phoenicians and ancient Carthaginians. Lisbon is at least 400 years older than Rome... that's 4 centuries. 600 years older than the Roman empire. And the city has been continuously inhabited.

I totally second this! I went to Portugal this past summer and it’s such a great place to visit, with just as much to see and do as the European countries that get more attention, like England or France. It’s got great historical sites and architecture, beautiful nature, friendly people, great food-not to mention it’s a lot more affordable than a lot of other countries in Europe too

I'm here by chance and it was a nice video to watch, your father is super cool and he told the truth about St Peter: regardless the faith (I'm not a believer) it's really hard to describe in words, it's one of the best examples of what human genius can create, the first time I went in, I was stunned (literally everywhere you look there is something gorgeous).

As a teen girl growing up on the Lizzie McGuire movie, I was shocked that dad picked USA over Rome at the end 😂 No but I get it, home is home, this was an awesome video! I went to Rome once but only for a bus/ferry layover, even so it was MINDBLOWING, so much history everywhere

We stopped at Rome for three days after our first cruise before jumping on our second cruise. I had so maybe plans and expectations, and then, I got sick by the time we made it there. On our way back we were there only half day before heading back home the next day, so we could only see Museum inside and the Vatican from outside. This grants another visit which it has to be soooooon!!! I can’t stop thinking about it. 😅

it's the first time I've watched one of your videos, if your dad was looking for a synagogue you had to take him to the Jewish ghetto in Rome. the oldest and most historic in Europe. There are also ruins of the roman ancient door of the ancien ghetto.The Jewish community of Rome is one of the largest in the world based on inhabitants. there is also the Jewish museum in the Jewish quarter of Rome.

What time of year did you go? And what time of day? Did you buy tickets in advance to some attractions so that you got through right away? I have seen many videos about Rome and it always seems super crowded.
@Matt_tw9 ай бұрын
Rome is one of the most visited cities in the world so naturally it's going to be crowded. But the worst of it is during peak season May-September. Try to go outside of that, with the winter months being the best time to go.

I almost forgot: the Tarantella is not Roman, it's Neapolitan and (with different names) from other places in southern Italy, to make you understand, it's as if you made a video about NY and used (for example) some country music as a soundtrack, wouldn't that be weird? Sure, it's American but it's not emblematic of NY city. I don't want to be rude but maybe (who knows?) from writing and rewriting one day I'll be able to watch a video about Italy without listening that, I've seen videos on Venice or the Dolomites with the Tarantella as the soundtrack, c'mon, it's unbearable (almost like my "English", sorry). 🍺

A tip to travelers. Do not go to Rome with a two or three year old Most Tours are walking Yours. And ancient buildings do not have lifts/ elevators. So you have to climb up and down with a toddler in your arms. Strollers are useless here

Shut up bot, tons of families with kids visit Rome every year and they do perfectly fine.

Great video, but come on, a person cannot judge in a few days by seeing the place with the eyes of a tourist whether he would live there or not. So it was unfair to ask him if he would like to live here or in Arizona
