Otherwise, may I suggest you get it wrapped, or maybe you could try doing that instead, not easy but easier than painting it badly. Don’t try tuning it until you’ve got it running properly and most importantly sort out that smoking problem before you do anything, otherwise you’re likely just wasting your money. Good luck, you deserve some.
@actschp14 ай бұрын
Couple of things with that low oil pressure light. It could be the oil sending unit. If it has failed it can reproduce the symptoms you're seeing. It could be that your bearings are completely wiped and the screen to the oil pick up tube is partially blocked. If you've over filled the engine and the crank is making the oil frothy, you could be just aerating the hell out of the oil and the oil pump can't pump foamy oil. (Providing, of course, that it isn't a dry sump. If it's a dry sump, then that wouldn't be an issue) Bottom line is, start from simple to more expensive. Replace the oil sending unit sensor. If that doesn't fix it, then you need to drop the pan and check for bearing material. Regarding the smoke, that looks like failed seals in both turbos. BUT! It could be the piston rings have failed. You can check that by doing a compression check and a leak down check. The leak down check will tell you more about the health of the rings than will a compression check. Hope it works out for you.

Painting a car is a real job that ask years of practize... If you want a result that such supercars need. Of course, you can prepare the job with making preparation if the painter accept it. Some refuse because they are afraid that the paint can "move" because of bad preparation.. After sanding, you can put epoxy primer, high build primer then sand it to 600 grid. Not surprised on the body shop issue. We call it "bodyshop Hell" Some shops will promise the moon to get the vehicle in there, and then they ignore the custom or classic for months or years so they can bang out the collision work because it's quicker cash. I built a LS3 powered 1959 Corvette restomod and took it to a "recommended" paint shop, and $36,000 later, not only was it not finished.. the body and paint work was so poor, I had it picked up and hauled to another shop straighten the bodywork and paint out at a cost of another $5k. I’ve painted cars for well over 20 years now and I can see many of spots that need to be fixed. Does it take two months? No, not even close. If he had gotten off his ass, he could have, fixed the damages, blocked and primed it in one day, let it sit for a few days to really cure to avoid any shrinkage, blocked, DAed, wet scuffed, taped, cleaned and shot. Easily doable in a week, even when taking your time. In my lifetime, I have hired three contractors to do certain jobs for me and every single one has botched it and is the main reason why I don’t ask anyone to do anything else for me.

Hi Inja, could you perhaps have a bad oil seal in the turbo causing all that smoke? Thanks for the update.

Nope! Engine is hard to get to to do that, and haven't had the car back until now, so that's next up.
@joeblack0074 ай бұрын
@TheInja Yes, that is absolutely the next thing to do. Dust off your endoscope and check the cylinder walls for any signs of damage as well. You can not spend another nickel on anything until the engine is sorted. Good luck bro...

Oil can be from the turbo seals or the PCV system.

Could be, or could be overfilled oil 😎

I have heard a bunch of reports like this about a classic Mustang restoration shop here in Utah. Sorry that happened to you, but you would probably do a better job DIY in your garage than he would.

Is there no were to tap into the engine to manually test oil pressure?
@TheInja4 ай бұрын
@@racingfortheson nope, McLaren doesn't provide a gauge for it. Haha. Reading it with the Autel next video...

@@TheInja I was thinking of making a T off of an oil supply line and use one of the Autolite gauge kits. Just have it in temporary. A manual gauge to verify and then take it off. $30 for priceless peace of mind.

Every clip of the painter in your video, the guy is just standing around doing nothing. I wouldn't have been able to get the car out of there fast enough. It will work out, can't wait to see your paint job.
