I Took The TDI Swapped Toyota On A 550 Mile Road Trip! And The Dakota Swap Is Torn Apart Again!!!

Not a lot of action in this video, mostly going over a recent trip I took with my TDI swapped Toyota and going over continued issues and hopefully the fix for my Dakota swap.

'Drag race to Eisenhower tunnel'. The ultimate test track for cooling systems I"m old enough to remember when there was NO I-70 super hwy west of Denver, no Tunnel, and you were on your own with 2 lane spaghetti switchback roads with little to no shoulder from Denver to Glenwood Springs. That segment alone was almost 8 hours. You were physically and mentally BEAT. Glad you are able to report about your liberated wheel, instead of being a statistic!

Not many people will understand driving in wyo you have tons of elevation change and crazy winds. Im north of you planing to do a tdi swap on one or 2 of my rock crawlers.

Yeah it's definitely working them pretty hard to drive around out here but so is every other engine on the road so not much difference LOL

Glad you are safe after the wheel departure. That happened to me on a parts cars I was towing, should have checked the lugs. How were EGT's at 65 MPH up Eisenhower tunnel? Thanks

It was pretty cold but I never even broke 1200°, 1000-1100 most of the time, tuning and turbo are working amazing. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for posting your experiences. I put an ALH in a Syncro Vanagon and watching your big turbo in this rig with that tune gives me hope I can reconfigure my rig to run lower EGTs. Happy Holidays.@@TDISwaps

Is there a easy way to swap a tdi into a 99 ford ranger automatic?

There are kits to almost bolt it right in, but getting the transmission to shift where you want can be tricky
