For making peelable boiled eggs, the key is to quickly rinse them in cold water as soon as the boiling time is done. Rinse until the eggs are slightly warm. I throw my boiled eggs in a bowl of ice water after boiling. This helps separate the membrane from the egg making it peel easier 😉

May need to try this on my 84 silver prospector. It's my pocket piece. Has some nice toning on the edges already.

Earlier this evening I did the same, I have a new ring which way too shiny/blingy. I cleaned the ring beforehand, the oils from your hand prevents the reaction to take place and it could end up blotched. Put 1 mashed up egg into a small tupperware box, put a piece of paper on top of that so the ring didn't come into direct contact with the egg. Took it out after 12 minutes and it looks very nice. There are different colors too, blue and red but the overall appearance is a warm dark, and the bling has definitely gone.

Always add a splash of Vintager to your hard boiled Eggs water before boiling. (keeps the eggs from cracking under water)

One thing i did after this to make them look super cool, was i took some baking powder and water my fingers and just gently went over the silver, it evened out that splotchy look a little and then all the high spots were just barely a different tone than the low spots on the coin. I did it on a cull silver eagle and it is a showpiece now (for people that like the look)

Perfect boiled egg: sauce pan like yours here. about a half inch of water, maybe a little more. Stick your index finger in...if the water covers the nail completely, that's probably enough. Boil water. As soon as water comes to boil, EXTREMELY GENTLY put eggs in. You do NOT want the shells to get even a slight crack. Cover. The whole idea here is to cook the eggs by steaming them, so leave the lid on. Don't take it off to check on them or anything. Cook 7 minutes. Remove from heat and either put the eggs in cold water or just run cold tap water into the sauce pan... you just want to stop the eggs from continuing to cook. Once you can handle them comfortably, go ahead and shell them and enjoy with a bit of salt and pepper. The whites will be firmly cooked, the yolk will be just slightly under solid, kind of a gooey/jelly texture, which I think is perfect. If you want the yolk slightly more solid, just change the steaming time to 8 or 9 minutes.

It's like in pirate movies, the silver "booty" is always nicely tarnished/patina'd. Now we know: the pirates kept their loot in their lunch boxes, too close to their hard boiled eggs. We cracked the code, and I didn't even need a PhD in pirate-ology.

I heard throwing in a cap full of vinegar in the water when boiling the eggs helps with peeling. Doesn’t transfer taste or anything.

They look awesome, especially that silver! Is it possible to force patina a knife (copper Leek) without taking it apart? Wasn't sure if it would be harmful to the (cpm154) blade, hardware, etc. I know it SHOULD be disassembled, but what would happen if you didn't?...

I think if you did this with a whole knife it would be fine the other metals wont take this harshly if at all especially if they are more polished surfaces, its a affordable enough knife it worth a try :)

That is something new for me leaving coins in hard boiled eggs. I guess I never heard of it or I didn't want to wast good EGGS to treat metals. I have so many other chemicals to treat metals. Just let nature do it's thing. Bronze you can do lot's of color treatments to that metal.

Put eggs in water, put heat on high with lid on, once it starts boiling, lower heat to low/med-low to maintain a rolling boil without boiling over. Depending on egg size boil for 7-9 minutes (larger eggs take longer). That will prevent the outside of the yolk turning grey or the yolk getting too crumbly or dry.
