My first crawling truck is my 87 Toyota standard cab that I solid axle swapped and installed the TRD elockers front and rear. It sits on 35s and has made it through the Rubicon. I only wish I'd either gone double cases or did the 4.7 tcase gears. I have fuel injection for it that I need to install. It runs good with the carb but just runs out of power at high altitude and it doesn't like some of the steeper angles

Makes me miss my old 85 4runner. Sold it 12 years ago so my wife and I could get our first apartment together in college. Bone stock sr5 manual, 22re with factory straight axle. Had well over 300k miles on it. I've been debating on an rc4wd 4runner for a long time now. Great video 👍👍

My first offroader was my first car. A 1983 FJ40. Unfortantly there was way to much rust in it for me to deal with. I still regret selling it now I have the time and skills to deal with the body damage. Alot of that truck made its way into my current FJ40 to get that up and running.

1990 Jeep Cherokee was my 1st off-roader. Traded it in on my 2005 LJ in 2005. It had 265,000 miles on it when I traded it. Running strong. I miss that thing.

Great looking build man! I would highly suggest you add a little brass to the front end of it though. It really helps heavy bodied trucks perform. Great vid man!👍🤙

Make a ESC mount on the rear part of the chassis and cut a hole the body to clear the ESC then print or make a tool box, speaker box, etc.. to cover the ESC. That would allow you to use the new RC4WD 22RE engine. Did you ever change foams? Crawler Innovations makes a dual stage specifically for the 1.7 wheek/tire combo on the Marlin. They help stop the tire from folding over on side hills and turns. Great videos, really enjoy watching you run the Marlin/4Runner.

Nice video love the 4-Runner and toyotas. I run 4.19 Super Swampers and 4.30 Hyrax on my TF2 and they work awsome couldn't be happier. You won't be sorry going to the smaller tire. Also the tire that comes with the TF2 kit work really well for a small tire after a little break in. Did a 4hr enduro with them and had no problems keeping up with the bigger tired rigs. Good luck, let us know how you like the smaller tires.

Looking good, bud. Nice to hear the backstory on your old runner. I think the heavier body will help improve your driving skills tremendously. Keep at it and take notes. Before adding more weight to help with cog, I highly recommend clocking the motor if you haven't done it. It's free and will only improve performance in every aspect. Aloha!

I just got the midnight edition a few weeks ago and couldn’t deal with the tiny tires . I only upgraded a little bit with some pitbull pbx hardcore tires , they are 4.05 tall . Kind of a sweet spot and the foams they come with are pretty firm which is nice . It made a huge improvement to my truck today . I was inspired by your videos seeing how capable your marlin is to get a slightly bigger tire .

Very interesting! Honestly I want 3.8 mostly for the look. They are more proportional especially to what my real 4Runner looked like. But I do like the clearance of the 4.19
