Since I retired seven years ago, I created a practice game again myself. Throwing for consistent 20, tons, ton plus shots. Incorporating doubles, bulls, and T19 switch. I record various shot records etc. My best year for 180’s is 42 and my current total of those is 171…. I’ll be 80 this year and practice about 2 hours a day average

I am 14 I’ve been throwing since I was 12. Recently like most people after seeing luke littler I’ve been inspired to go for it and my average so far has went from 15 to 50-60 and the doubles are flying more and more. So hopefully I can continue to improve over the next while. Great video

Honestly, if I'd have bumped into you in a boozer and you told me you'd gone from a 40avg to a 80 in a year, I'd honestly think you're taking me for a mug. But the way you've broken down how you did it in phases and talked us through it, I genuinely believe ya. Because of work and other commitments I can only really practice for an hour during the week, but try and get at least 2 hours in over the weekend. I've been playing for 2 1/2 years now and have gone from a 35avg to 55. Not a massive leap, but I'll be using your steps from now on. Hope you get the success you're after and you reach the levels that you've worked towards. All the best, fella. Top man 👍

What type of darts you use is extremely important to success ! when you found them you could have bought several sets ( as many as you could afford ) and instead of going up and down to the dart board to fetch just 3 darts you could have thrown 9 or even 15 or more darts in one go for example...... 3 at double 1 3 at treble 19 etc etc.... or even set up 2 dart boards next to each other.... This would have increased the intensity of the practice IMO.... Same principle as what golfers and footballers do

Starting out with darts and i have a few questions. 1) how do you know the correct board to get? 2) how do you know the correct darts to get. 3) how did you track your average? Is the board linked to tech that auto inputs your scores?
@RR10000Hours10 ай бұрын
1)Aslong as doesn’t have a thick wire and staples it won’t make a huge difference, would go with blade 3,5,6 depending on budget. 2) try three different sets and different weights try different grips with all and go with most comfortable. Track your results with each set eg 3 practice matches on different days and see the difference in averages against a very low level bot so you take out doubles. 3) Use a manual app that you input scores. Try to work out the maths before inputting scores this will help in the long run. All the best 🙌

Did you stick with the same darts for the year? If you changed weights or models what were thought process behind any changes? I know this is very individual but If someone were to do this what weight would you recommend to start with
@RR10000Hours3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for you question buddy. I started with your normal rubbish set quickly moved to Argos available Gary anderson 22g and had improvement had 2 months of playing around with different sets probably about 11 different in total for my grip style I grip at the back and settled with the winmau Tuscan and had these for about 3 months with on and off. I started to feel like the darts were not coming out of my hands straight sometime and almost had to much grip. So I bought 5 different sets with similar grips to what I had but all slightly different and weight. Settled on two different sets of bolide 02 from target , tried 23g and 25g. Player games with each set against each other which is the best way to decide as can feel every throw which one you naturally are better with. Ended up stick with 23g and had stayed for maybe 6 months now, don’t think I will change as I don’t think about the dart anymore just the throw. Sorry for long winded reply , but If I did it again I would recommend buying darts that naturally sit in the board and allow for a tight grouping and don’t give you lots of robin hoods or bounce outs. Also sometimes stick with a set even if your playing bad as it’s probably not the darts. The weight I would start with is 22/24 and see which one your naturally closer with especially on doubles. Then go between and give some time. Hope helps mate 🙌😊

I started a similar journey in August of last year...My average was inching up..and then...INJURY! Just curious, was it medial epicondylitis? I'm currently suffering through golfer's elbow, which is impacting my ability to practice and play. Also, what stretches and exercises do you use to stretch out the arm, shoulder and back muscles. Finally, I like your strategy for success. Attacking one aspect at a time. When I heal, I may retool my practice strategy so I'm focusing on one skillset at a time. I look forward to hearing from you.

Do you know when to release the dart? Or is it just „in your feeling“? I ask because until march i threw in front of my face and i saw, when i had to release the dart. But i hit a plateau and i‘m now trying do release the dart on the right side of my face, as most of the pro‘s do..🤔 What do you recommand? And could you show us your throw filmed from every angle?
@RR10000Hours3 жыл бұрын
Hi it is interesting you say about this I have tried throwing from all different positions and it usually has nothing to do with where the position of the eye is. More about the straightness of backward and forward motion which usually is the right side of body for most right handed people this is the natural flex of the arm. I will do a video of my throw and how to throw a dart and the mechanics behind it as every throw is different. 💪 I hope this will help and makes sense 👍😊

Yes to your question there were definitely phases where I had to push through and also times were darts just felt uncomfortable in my hands. Push on through but also have to develop understanding of why and what is causing inaccurate darts etc, which I still doing even now. I hope my next video will help, we also offer one to one 30 day training now via @machdarts on Instagram. I wouldn’t worry to much about the angle of the darts unless they are preventing something like a lot of bounce outs or not being able to get a tight grouping. 🙌💪🎯😊

Unless you’re practicing more than 5 hours per week with back to back days of play then you’re just maintaining your level . I would advise playing as much singles play and tournaments like opens and even online , this will get you used to playing with adrenaline flowing makes a huge difference, best of luck

how do you work out yoour averages ? is it a consistant 80 average? andis it a double out average rather then just a scoring average? i mean im a 60 average player but i could potentially throw a 100+ over a best of 3. so for me to get a more realistic average i play 10 legs of 501. hitting 10 doubles can drop the average massive when you miss.
@RR10000Hours3 жыл бұрын
Yes great point I work out my average with 3 games of first to 6 in 501 double out this gives me a good range but as you say can fluctuate. I have averaged over 90 and 100 in first to two so doesn’t give a fair representation as you say 🙌👍
@SuperChalkster3 жыл бұрын
@@RR10000Hours i play a computer handicapped so no matter what i win, that way i have to hit the double every leg and not let my oponent save my average if i miss, its more a true reflection of your average imo, and the longer the format the better, i think its accurate that way as my averages barely differ over 10 legs to another 10 legs. genreally ill pin the doublequick if i scored like a donky , if i score well i end up from d16 to d8 to d4 etc, the other day i was playing a leg of 5001 which is like playing 10 legs in 1, i was averaging 109 after the first 1000 points lol. but i ended with a 63, so that was my point, ver a short format anyone could beat anyone but the cream rises over distance.
@RR10000Hours3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is a good point the longer format certainly gives you an idea I will maybe try 5001 and let you know the average see how it differs will be interesting for me , also when you have bot or play an opponent who is of a good standard you could be playing lower and they take out legs which you wouldn’t have done so can skew figures, just a thought , should have a match soon mate 😊🙌

@RR10000Hours10 ай бұрын
Stretching after every session mainly neck and areas that previously injured. Hot and cold therapy works wonders for this, also if you have an injury then manage your practice to the point where it can actually put you out for couple of weeks. Know your body’s limit then go as close as possible without injuring yourself. Focused practice helps this, also for me aching of muscles due to growth is a good thing. Joint pain or muscle strain is not

I find 2 things are the hardest in darts and it’s consistently of the following. 1. throwing to early and the dart goes too high on the board or throw late and it goes low. 2. My arm uses different power on each throw so my darts are thrown inconsistently to each other. These 2 things drive me mad, if I could release all at the same point and with the same power I’d be happy. If anyone has any pointer’s please let me know 👍cheers

I have done other videos to try and help with this check them out 👍 if you try to practice simple drills such as hitting the barrel with every throw no matter where the dart goes or aiming for the flight this will help. Also start by trying to get them all in two segments then one then a smaller part and then outer bill ring eg. Patience is key and practice 💪🙌

I am doing exact the same like you are doing. I started with a 45 avg 4th of januari. Now having a 55 avg. Struggling for quit a bit of time to get up to 60. It looks like you got from a 40 to a 63 avg straight away. But to get to a 80 avg in just one year is incredible. I hope to do the same but my first goal is to get up to a 60 avg end of this month beginning may. Did you feel at some points that you made big steps on sertain averages? Like i feel that 45 to 55 wasnt that hard but now it slows me down to get to 60.

Very interesting and nice progress. But every dart player know that darts is about head. You can have average 100 and if you have bad mentality, in match you ll have 60. Darts needs great mentality. And trainig this is more harder (for someone) than practicing darts.

I do not understand. however I throw it, it works fine for about 3 days, then it starts to get worse and worse with the same technique, then I change the technique and the same thing happens again. when I give it up for a few days, there will be one good day at a time, but then it will fall apart again. I don't know why this is. happening all the time.😥

Darts is very much like this at any level , the only way I have found to gain more consistency is solid practice hours for multiple day’s intensely after a few weeks the overall standard will generally improve if you have a fair stable and straight throw 🙏

Hi, what did you change about your throw? I am currently asking myself what I should change. I am right eye dominant, but when I pull my arm to the right eye I can only see the target through my left eye because my vision is blocked by the hand and dart. So i am effectively aiming mostly with my left eye. As you see, I am a bit overwhelmed by the situation....
@RR10000Hours3 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter, I changed a lot over time with my throw but because the throw is all about your muscles and coordination I personal don’t believe the right eye left eye dominance will make a big difference, more like a feeling where your throwing. With that being said I have tried to throw like Gary Anderson and although can give consistency I felt it was distracting me a bit like what you say so go further forward. Find a throw that is most comfortable to you and also if you have a flat throw without lots of level changes this will be most consistent. I hope this helps I would watch the other videos especially the slow motion parts to see the changes if you want to look at the technical side mate 🙌👏

Great story how you have gone from 40 to 80 in a year, I have concentrated on improving my throw, particularly the stance and arm action I did always throw towards the 5 being right handed, but I throw it straighter, and holding the arm up higher elbow at 90 degrees to the shoulder allows me to hit the T20( when the arm drops over the duration of the game I notice the trebles dont come, and I realise that.) 55 avg for me, but I dont play enough, just at weekends.
