He's probably used to it from playing so much Pokemon and losing runs to RNG. I recently played a Romhack for SoulSilver, it buffed Whitney to have 6 Pokemon and they all had attract, my team happened to be all male, I was losing my shit due to attract bullshit, until eventually I just went in with guts heracross, pre-poisoned and swept until the last Pokemon.

Damn, that terrible luck in Jan's Grimsley fight was brutal. On top of all the attracts and worst possible random moves, those critical hits really put the final nail in his coffin. I'm not sure any strategy would have worked with luck like that.

Couple thoughts 1. Wacko said there was one of each type. Who were the ghost/dragons and did either consider them? 2. Drew did a fantastic job cleaning up that long fight with Jan. It felt edge of the seat even though there was surely some down time. 3. Jan and Flygons styles are so different. I prefer Jan because he’s not trying to be entertaining, rather he’s constantly walking the viewer through what’s going on in his brain and that’s really insightful.

Damn that sucks to see Jan go down like that. Happens to fhe best of us. Though watching the fight when he kept pivoting trying to shake off attract couldn't he have tried attacking with Machoke instead of immediately switching after taking damage from night slash? Because it looks like every time Jan switched Machoke out for Corsola Liepard just kept going for the Attract (I'm guessing it didn't see a kill with aerial ace.) Machoke gets outsped, but he'd still have a chance to land a hit and break out of attract. And if not then Jan would could just switch to Corsola on the incoming aerial ace and then try to hit with head smash. Is my analysis correct or am i missing something? Edit: watching it back I was incorrect. Liepard alternated between attract and Aerial Ace, was a coin flip either way. Jan did everything he could. Just unfortunate luck.

Also he needed to keep Machoke healthy for Bisharp and Scrafty, letting that and Corsola get weakened instead of risking triple attract vs Liepard was his misplay imo

@@long_john Yeah I was talking out of my ass with my initial comment. If Jan had chanced attacking with Machoke instead of switching the first time he would have had a chance to get a free hit. But later switches Liepard went for aerial ace instead of attract on the switch. I think the nail in the coffin was not using Swords Dance when Liepard was full restored. Could have turned it around, but it's just how the cookie crumbles he had a good dose of bad RNG coming at him.

I don’t you could conclusively say one is better based on one run. Not only did Jan get screwed by RNG this run (he did misplay, but he still did lose hit a 1/16 chance for four attracts in a row, a 1/9 chance for worst random move twice, and multiple crits, one being on the worst possible turn, but Flygon also is known as the nuzlocker who has likely played the base games the most out of any runner. His experience with these games are second to none. Regardless, both played pretty well, one just got luckier.
