My husband and I have been together 30 years. We take separate vacations for mental health/individuality and when we do travel together, we do things separately (and together). I understand. My German husband and I have been together since 1993 and just recently, I have discovered that taking vacations with my girlfriends is way more fun than with my husband. Vacations with my husband is like taking a business trip without the evening cocktail. There is a list of things he must do at specific day and time. If that does not happen as planned, he will die or it seems. I feel like in the army. When we travel with our adult son who is like him, I want to end my vacation before is scheduled to end. That is true and I am secretly thinking: “I am going to return by myself.”.

I dont want to go on a six mile hike, bear viewing. I’ll choose other things to do that day. We don’t get bent out of shape over things like that. If my husband wants to go on a mountain trip with his best friends of 40 years. I’m good with it. If I want to go to Hawaii with my girlfriends of 40 years, he doesn’t care either. It works.

@@HT-rq6om That is the good thing about a German partner. My husband is confident and secure enough, not to mention liberal, to allow me to go out without him without issues. But, I am the same way and he can go out even with female friends and I have no jealousy or fear of being cheated at because I know him and I am confident and secure and, as Amy would agree with, if you are committed to the relationship and know each other well and trust each other and are close to each other in an intimate way (not referring to sexually intimate, that is just one part of it) then you are both fine and content.

Ways I deal with sickness: always sit in the front and stare at the horizon with fresh air from the window/air conditioning, wear seabands which put pressure on acupuncture points in the wrist. Eat ginger candy or ginger supplement pills. Keep my stomach full of bland food like rice cakes. Eat green apples; they have a weird compound in them that helps. Drink bubbly water sparingly. Bring peppermint oil to sniff and peppermint gum to chew. Bring alcohol pads to smell, weird but it decreases nausea. You have stirred up a lot of memories for me with this video. My parents took me and my sister to the Canary Islands 50 years ago, when I was 11 and my sister was 10 years old. It was an amazing experience, and very different from our home in the middle of Canada. I don't think that many of our childhood memories remain with us, unless our experiences are remarkable, and Spain was definitely much different than home, as I remember a lot of this trip. The beautiful scenery, vegetation, architecture, etc. I loved it! We were there for 3 weeks. I appreciate your perspectives on cultural differences. Our hotel in Tenerife had a lot of British and Irish visitors, and we met friends we could communicate with. We did notice a lot of German tourists when we were in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. My Dad was asked if he wanted to go on a shark fishing expedition with some German men. Most of the people around us were speaking German. The Spanish people were very friendly, and the food was great. We went to different restaurants for lunch and supper. I think that the variety of food we were exposed to on that trip inspired me to a level of culinary awareness that I might not have achieved, had I not been there. You may have been able to find more interesting food away from your hotel. I'm glad that your trip worked out well!

Get yourself some ginger capsules and take 2 -4 before you get in the car and repeat every 3-4 hours. OR you can make a concentrated ginger syrup to keep in your fridge. Wash and Cut up a ginger root. Add to 2 cups of water with 2 cups of sugar and bring to a boil. Cook just long enough to make a syrup then cool and pour into an empty jar. Keep in the fridge and take a large spoonful if nauseous or before a car trip. Works for nausea from motion, the flu, pregnancy or whatever. Glad you had a good trip!

My sister used to work in a place like this and from her retelling she had more fun than most of the guests because she actually left the resort on her days off.

You should visit Sydney. We have amazing asian restaurants by people from different heritages.

i love travelling for food too. My friend and i decided against a Vietnam trip because the Kingsland Road in London has lots of Vietnamese restaurants......we saved the air fare.

Pretty sure you're not going to have the same culinary experience in London that you'd have in Vietnam. There are certain ingredients and preparations that just aren't done unless you're in Vietnam. :)

I have been to a few Vietnamese restaurants, I was not impressed. You should go to Vietnam and taste the real thing.

I love the bits of you that you call crazy. It's too bad that you have to turn it down sometimes, Uyen. You are awesome and such a rare find.

I’m Brazilian married to an American. Always relate to your videos so much in terms of cultural differences. But in this one it was the motion sickness 😂 I’m just as bad! Can’t travel without Dramamine, I buy the whole non-drowsy line, the ginger chews, the tablets, the drops, you name it. They still make me sleepy but it’s the only way to keep myself from puking and becoming a “noodle”, like I always tell my husband and he cracks up.

I visited my brother in Berlin..I'm in USA. I've never walked sooo much in my life..lol..Just around the corner translates to 3 mile hike! They have legs of steel, compared to my jelly legs. Must admit I was more fit when I returned home, plus never gained a pound from all the delish pastries. I'm with you Sister..let's eat while they plow onward..lol

I love how she doesn’t have to pack anything but clothes bc the 3 Germans will bring everything else 😂 and if she needs clothes she just wears GBFs 😂 I wonder if she accidentally calls him “German Boyfriend” irl lol

This makes me laugh so much. I’m first generation born in America and my boyfriend is 2nd generation born here Italian and the part where Yuen was just vibing and just going with the flow to the airport is so true with us. We always have to be so early to the airport and on time and it stresses me out lol

You have to go to Split in Croatia, the food there is amazing if you use an app that tells you the best places + islands and sightseeing's are close!

Yeah that's the reason I avoid super touristy all inclusive hotels. I wanna go on an adventure and experience other places and cultures. What's the point going to a hotel in another country that is just like home?
@Manubayr75 ай бұрын
I recommend visiting Greece or rather the islands of Greece for your next holidays. One of the best food and not as expensive as Italy and the sea is also more beautiful. Shorter flight, only more than 2 hours, and also very germanized hotels :D

Everyone miss food when they move to another country. I'm from Serbia, married to Korean and I live in Korea. at first I thought I'll enjoy it here so much because I love Korean food, but the fact is I miss Serbian and European food a LOT. For example yoghurt and cheese are not same here as in Europe, I miss bakeries in every corner, I miss coffee, I miss not caring how much money I'll spend on fruits... in Korea there are a few big chains of bakeries and the bread here is expensive and not tasty, mostly it is too sweet or it has too much butter in compare with Europe. The fruits here are insanely expensive while in Serbia in the city where I was born I had own garden with almost all kind of berries and fruits. Here they pack and sell 2 apples or 10 cherries as if they are gold. The coffee culture here is so different, people here tend to drink a coffee of 300~500ml with lots of water, ice or milk. I know very well how you feel. I'm just hoping that, as time goes, I'll start missing things a little bit less.

Uyen! I'm sorry to hear you have motion sickness. I suffer from it too! Candied ginger helps me a lot. Maybe it can help you too and if nothing else it's a good excuse to carry a little sweet snack while traveling. 😘

You are doing it right! Just because you are a couple, you don't have to do everything together. That's what my husband and I have been doing ever since and it works very well for us - not only on vacation. 🥰👍💖 I hope you are feeling better as the video is probably a few weeks old already?! 🍀

Thank you for taking us all on your trip and giving your insights. I love the contribution of German bf also. Please thank him for me. I sure like hearing from him. Good for you for travelling with your in-laws. My husband and I did a little bit of travelling with my parents when they were a bit younger. Did I like it? Yes and No. We also did a little bit of travelling with my sister and her hubby and again with our very good friends. So far our experience travelling with other people is a yes and no experience. Travelling together with other people is so risky because travel styles are so different. If they are different, then you definitely must split up occasionally to do your own thing. Nothing wrong with that. Keep up your good works with this channel Uyen and German bf! I appreciate you both.
