Powder and pomade. That's pretty much all you need to try this 18th century hairstyle. You too could look like the ladies of 1700s Versailles... but with your heads still on your shoulders. I've gotta say this was a challenge to accomplish, but mainly cuz it just felt really, really weird. I hate cornstarch Enjoy the video!

Would totally buy one of those necklaces, for myself and my daughter who is EXTREMELY into historical fashion and dresses like it all the time, she loves the attention she gets when out and about lol!

It did turn out super cute. I use cornstarch as dry shampoo but I don't use that much at all. Maybe a teaspoon worth. Lol. You did a great job. Thank you for sharing your experience with doing this.

For distribution of powder a boar bristle brush will help more than a wide tooth comb. Just a note for future reference ❤

I have to imagine this would be a lot less tedious if you had someone doing your hair for you. Regardless, the final look turned out great, you really looked like you stepped out of a portrait.

I use this as my normal hair care. Just like anything, you won't get the best results your first time. Over time, it becomes easier to do. I usually just use pomade and put one layer of powder and comb that in, because that keeps my hair with its natural colour; people can't even tell I use this. I also wet wash my hair when I don't need it looking formal. But if you want that fully powdered look, it takes more time and more powder. You still would have to be quite rich and/or have a lot of time on your hands if you wanted to have the hair fully powdered everyday.

So, you are supposed to wear a pomade for your hair, and after you apply the powder you are supposed to brush it off 😭 it is not supposed to be overloaded with powder

Also, just an additional comment: I think it might have been so hard for you to brush it through because you were using a comb. I'm pretty sure back then, they used special boars bristle brushes. I could be wrong.

This video made me smile. And this truth about historical hairstyles is why Disney does not have historically accurate hair for its heroines or heroes lol.

not the power puff girls reference, hilarious. Is a dream of mine to have white hair, like WHITE hair, thank you Kida from Atlantis. Sadly I naturally jet black hair apparently and I am deadly afraid of hair dye damaging my curl pattern

Surely they just used this like normal dry shampoo with their own greasy hair ? Why would they put pondering first.
