I hope you enjoy my fountain pen newbie adventures as I get ink all over, make spelling mistakes, and have a great time experimenting with my new pen. I'm a leftie and I went and got a mont blanc pelikan etc in pens a bunch of paper and still working on not smearing my ink. Blotter work really well.

8 years in the hobby, so take that with a grain of salt as you read my advice. Respectfully, take it or leave it as im a commenter with no subs: 1)General parts: a.nib, you know (although the one that came installed on the pen box is called hooded) b.the part you normally grip is called the section or grip section c.there's the body of the pen (the blue part thats not the cap) d.ends are called finials e.obviously there's the clip & cap f.inside you can install either an ink cartridge, as you did with blue or pink (most times you have to wait for the ink to come through the feed, that's why the blue was instantaneous but the pink was not), g.inside the pen when you opened it with the piston mechanism is called a converter w/ability to draw from an ink bottle which is generally more economical/frugal than buying cartridges, i recommend Noodler's as its most affordable with options, but there is also Diamine, Monteverde & Lamy that are dependably high quality but cheap too. 2)As a fellow southpaw, i recommend trying to learn/use underhanded writing (writing underneath where the words are) so you have the most options for inks if/when you get into the near-infinite rainbow of colors/properties of ink, depending how deep you go into fountain pens. It only took me a few (about 3) months to comfortably default to this style & now i dont have to worry at all about smearing the ink in _any_ width of nib (extra fine to 1.5mm stub) 3)There are better options for fountain pens at the price you would've paid for the Dryden, a chinese markup brand of questionable consistency. I have nothing against chinese fp brands: PenBBS on etsy is brand with more fill/model options, consistent quality & color/styles than most other brands bar none (see Inkquiring minds channel & search for "PenBBS" to see them all reviewed), Jinhao is also a known great beginner chinese brand with plenty of styles (although some are copies/clones/inspirations of higher brands), Moonman is mostly like Jinhao; all i recommend are known higher quality than Dryden who is known for marking up cheaper fp's too high for their quality, just like "Woodsworth & Black" do. I'm simply trying to help you feel the difference without paying too much. 4)There are a lot of lefty youtube fp channels i'd recommend, first that come to mind are Manda B. (now called Inksplat), Mike L. - the offstage me, Drawins & Scribblins (ambidextrous), Holy Fire Scribble (Christian, but not lefty), Lefty Karen, Good News to You (Christian, not lefty), JG3 Reviews (Christian, not lefty) & Stephen_Inks. I pray you enjoy the Fp journey, you have earned another sub today to see how your journey continues by God's grace, may God bless you always!

I’m a leftie but I have an underhand grip. My writing slants to the left and I don’t have issues with smearing. I admire your handwriting - but I’m not sure I could cope with the overhand grip! Great choice of Bible verses to demo with! Enjoyed the video - thank you so much!

I have a couple of Lamy Safari pens. And I love them. I use ink from a bottle but that is just my preference. As for advice, I love Goulet Pens. They have lots of helpful advice and videos especially for lefties 😊 I’m right-handed.

@@MyAbidingJournal I really appreciate a video they did on how to use a syringe to load refill cartridges instead of trying to dip a cartridge in an ink bottle. Way less mess.
