I remember them doing this on bake off n they did the chocolate first in a mould, piped the marshmellow in n added the biscuit. Well done jazz 👍🏻

Tempering chocolate makes no difference whether it sets or not! Tempered chocolate is heated to a certain temp, and then when it sets it has a super shiny top- all chocolate will set regardless of how it’s melted!
@chloemoe2k74 жыл бұрын
That's what was confusing me! I was thinking surely if you stick it in the fridge it will set whatever you've done with it
@jessicaolivia66804 жыл бұрын
If you don’t temper it it’ll still be soft at room temperature, it won’t set firm. If you put it in the fridge it’d still set!

Omg thoses are just Mallo Cakes! I wouldn't have known if you called them teacakes either. You did very well though with the limited instructions, I feel like people on the bake off get better recipes maybe? And more instructions, like what to do with the chocolate. I thought all chocolate always sets, mine always does, that you had to do something special to it to keep it runny, or that tempering was just to make it shiny after setting? Anyways, very good job, you even made marshmallow, that's amazing! And I bet they were tasty as well. ♥ 👏

Loved the video. Bless you heart you did an amazing job especially not knowing what they were. I love a tea cake!! But you are right there are two different types. The sweet version covered in chocolate and then a scone type with raisins and other fruits. If ever in doubt alway place items in the fridge to to thicken or harden. Can’t wait for the next bake off challenge x

To be fair when I think of a teacake I don’t think of these I think of what at Easter time are called hot cross buns. Like a bun with raisins in it that you toast and have with butter. I have had these chocolate marshmallow tea cakes too, but you would have to specify you meant the chocolate ones and not just say teacake.

Easy way to temper chocolate from bar to top A quality is to do the "Cool down method", which taking a ICE COLD marble or even metal chopping board. I recommend the marble cause it can control the temperature better then metal, you pour your gentle hot to hot chocolate right on the block MOVING QUICKLY take a flat candy spatula/ two big burger spatulas works too, fold and GENTLY move the chocolate. DO NOT LET IT STAND ON THE BOARD FOR TOO LONG, YOU'LL KILL THE CHOCOLATE'S CRYSTAL FORMS. It helps making the chocolate's crystal forms from rough and pointy, to smooth and softer form when it hardens. And it's an easier way to harden chocolate quickly, but not the easy to perfect unless you done it for multiple years. My grandma used to be a candy and chocolate maker before she pasted away, and she teach me when I was SUPER YOUNG. I was 5 almost 6 years old when I first helped her, and now I'm almost 32. You did good with the marshmallow, it is hard to make but you did good, need more of firmness which you quicky saw, the biscuit it's more of a butter wafer then a Lodon Biscuit, but you did pretty good for not even knowing what it is. 👏👏👏👏👏👏 WELL DONE! Next time just less biscuit, more marshmallow, and have the chocolate after tampering it be runny, so after you tampered with it reheat SLOWLY and should be that wonderful hard crunchy shell over the tea cakes and marshmallow. NOT TOO THICK THOU! XD
