As a period cup user, I've never had any problems with having to empty the cup in a public restroom. Because I can wear them for up to 12 hours, I just empty it before going somewhere public for awhile. So for the menstrual cup newbies, best decision EVER!
@Schwarzmalerxxx
@Schwarzmalerxxx 3 жыл бұрын
This could be a bit TMI but here we go: I have really heavy periods and mine can fill up within an hour on the "heavy flow days". I used them for a while now so of course I also had to empty it in a public restroom as well. It's uncomfortable, sure, but not horrible. Just use a ton of toilet paper to wipe it afterwards and make sure to wash it as soon as you get home. Wipe the fingers as well (I don't need two hands to do it anyway so I just use the "clean hand" for the door etc afterwards) and yeah, it's done. The awkward thing could be sounds and a lot of blood in the toilet, meaning having to flush a few times but... better than leaking lol. Pro tip: DON'T DROP IT. FOCUS.

Tips for cup noobs: 1. You can get away with only doing the insertion and removal in the shower, so once in the morning and once at night. That makes it a lot more bearable and feels cleaner if you're like me and are grossed out by the human body in general. 2. The punch down fold starts narrower and gets wider as more goes in, like a cone almost so it's a lot easier when you're starting out. 3. If you feel the cup, it isn't in far enough. To get it in farther, it's easiest to squat and while pushing the cup in farther with one finger, TMI but flex your vaginal muscles so it feels like they're pulling the cup. This will help the cup get a better grip and actually stay up. 4. Caution: When inserting the cup, I place a finger between the cup and my pubic bone. This prevents a painful snap of the silicone against your urethra if the cup opens too early on accident. Having your finger as a barrier will save you some agony I PROMISE. 5. Removal! This is easiest in a squat. Use your vaginal muscles to push the cup down. Don't try to pull it out by the stem! This is very important because if you try to pull it by the stem, it will be painful due to the suction. Use the stem to guide your finger to the base of the cup and gently press on the cup to make it cave in a little. This breaks the suction seal. At this point you can usually get a second finger in to pinch the base of the cup (to keep the suction seal broken) and gently pull it out. Again, if you can, protect your urethra from that painful snap when it comes out. Hopefully any part of this information is helpful to those of you who may be considering the cup but haven't been sure because it sounds difficult. Good luck!~

@@semya161 I have used a cup for about 5-6 years now and if you don't bleed very heavy, you can change it two times a day and it's fine, once in the morning and once in the evening, I never had to change it in a public bathroom. Actually, I sometimes didn't change it for about 24 hours (at the end of my period) but the people who sell it can only say that it's safe to use if you change at least every 12 hours. So that's your own risk if you leave it in longer and I can only speak for myself but I never had problems with leaving it in longer.

For anyone who has a problem with the suction not breaking its an easy fix.... As you grasp the stem, slide one finger as you bear down along side the cup this will break the seal that is created by the cup which is what keeps the cup catching everything. The cup has little holes on the sides so all you have to do is break the seal so air can get in and you are good to go.

Safiya Nygaard found that the cup works very well in combination with some period panties, using the cup for the first few heavy days, then switching to the panties when things slow down and the cup is excessive for what was needed. The panties may not last as long as the cup, but even if you get a couple years out of a pair it's a lot less waste than disposable products, and may be more comfortable for those last couple days. Something to look into.

"Why white?" I'm guessing it was more "pick the no-dye option" because production of dye can have nasty chemicals. You can tie-dye the bag with ink that you can make from hibiscus flowers. Little hint, love, periods don't hurt unless there is something wrong. They get a little tiring, but most of the stuff said about them is utter crap made up by people who want an excuse to be cranky. Being kicked in the balls has to be a lot worse. Personally, I love periods. My senses are sharper, the sensations involved, sensational. Being female is not an affliction, but a privilege. Having your genitalia in a place where they can be injured so easily must be hellish.

I've been using the cup for 5 years now, and I don't believe there are any negatives. To me, its the most amazing invention since the computer and completely life changing--I try to convince everyone I know to try it. I haven't purchased (necessary) feminine products in years, saving me, well I don't know how much money, but probably a nice holiday (lol). My toilet hasn't backed up even once in years. Tampons will clog your system and cause all sorts of plumbing issues. And though one person's impact on the environment is probably minuscule, I feel better that I'm not causing more waste. Imagine the impact we could make if ALL women switched to a cup and stopped using pads and tampons. Thank you for sharing--even though I already knew my stance, I found your video hilarious and I appreciate your support of this amazing product.

I saw the title, snorted, pressed play, and set my phone aside to listen to while changing my menstrual cup. I'm a veteran of a few years. I'm about 4 minutes in your video now. And I'm curious to hear what you have to say. I think I'm going to make comments as I watch. -You want it to be thick. The thicker, the easier to seal. You'll know it's sealed when it feels inflated and rotates easily. -My go-to folding position is... how do I phrase it.. invert one side at a 45 degree angle so that it has one point? -Shower changes are the best. -Weird that yours goes higher. Mine tends to lower as it fills. -When I'm taking it out I stick one finger in and break the seal first. -I've only had to change it out of home a handful of times. Mostly because I'd forgotten to at home. It's best if you use a family bathroom or single bathroom (and yes, I have used the sink. You've used the sink for your hands after changing tampons, yes?). A couple times I only had a stall and had to just dump it and stick it right back up without washing it then making liberal use of TP.... not my finest moment. Cups aren't for everybody. You get far more familiar with your body than you'd dared before. Your hands never escape unsoiled. And you become intimately aware of exactly the quantities, thickness, and color of your period. But after all this time I could never go back to tampons, let alone pads.

I would recommend doing a lot of research on menstrual cups before trying them out. There are many different types of period cups that differ in size, form and material. Depending on how strong your muscles are, how sensitive you are, how high your cervix is, whether you've had a child before, how heavy your flow is, etc. certain cups are better for you.

As someone who's been using a menstrual cup for a few years now, here are some tips that I hope are helpful to someone! 1. I found the punch down method is a lot easier for insertion to begin with because then it's more of a 'cone' shape to insert as opposed to a 'cylindrical' shape of the c-fold. 2. Someone already said it, but water based lube helps a lot. 3. If you can feel the cup after insertion throughout the day there could be two main reasons (to my knowlage), one is the little stalk at the bottom of the cup might be too long for you so you may need to trim it, or you may not have the cup far enough up your hooha (once the cups inside you can use your finger to slowly push it further up, it cant get lost but you may feel it suction around your cervix which is uncomfy so it's a bit of trial and error to find the right possitioning) you shouldnt be able to feel it if it's in correctly! 4. I've found that to retrieve the cup, the best time/position to do it is sitting down on the toilet before a shower, and do some kegel exercise push thingies, which is just squeezing you pelvic floor muscles (the pushing ellbat mentioned), this will push the cup further out and within reach for you to break the suction and pull it out while dumping majority of the blood straight in the toilet (to be fair, doing it on the toilet is best if a sink is in the same room) or you can do it in the shower, get into a low squat and do the same thing. And 5. Do as much research on what cup works best for you (because there are a lot to chose from. The website putacupinit.com has a chart that compares almost all the cups on the market right now), how to do everything and what to expect, even fo a bit of reading up on what Toxic Shock Syndrome actually is and how its caused just so you know what would actually have to be done to get it, and therefore you can avoid doing that. Hope these are helpful!

I just tried today, first time it actually fit nicely inside, forgot about it, but it gave me huge cramps, went to empty it out and now i cant get it far up enough, the stem was sticking out and hurting, so i cut it a bit, put it in and tried like that, it was the exact same, no matter how much i cut it it stuck out the same painful amount, sinse i didnt use the stems for anything i just cut it off entirely (even tho i have a medium/long cervix), sinse then (after that first try) i was never able to apply it correctly again, its either opened with the bottom of the cup sticking out, or remains folded inside there, ive tried every possible fold, best is the punch down, every position, everything, its either up in there stuck close, and doesn't pop open no matter what, or when i do twirl it around or push the fold up so it pops open, it just gets pushed right out and the bottom of the cup is sticking out, im so confused the only time it worked it gave me awful cramps which apparently means it was too far up, but even then, i could just deal with them, id be fine, i used to have really bad cramps anyway, but i cant put it in that deeply anymore, it just stays completely folded, i honestly just gave up and am now wearing a pad, after 4 days of extremely painful attempts, drying myself completely, i just gave up on it, i dont know what to do, do you have any idea whats happening? Ive googled everywhere and no one seems to be having the same problems as i am, maybe i Googled the wrong thing idk, im wearing the smallest size btw

@@R0s3.R3d hi! During our period, the cervix drops and the vaginal canal becomes shorter, this may be why you found it fit the first day yet didnt the next, you also may find that you vaginal canal is just shorter in general or you have a naturally low cervix (a good indication is if you can feel your cervix with your finger and what knuckle is still showing, sorry about being a bit graphic) which is very normal! I would probably suggest to but a new cup that's shorter, theres a quiz on putacupinit.com that gives you a rough idea if what sort of cup you should look for, I think it's one of the first google results when you search for the website. If you want a few brands to look at that sell shorter cups, you could look at Juju, Saalt or Merula, but there are a ton out there so look around for one that's best for you because there are other factors like firmness(which can effect how easily it opens) that may impact your decision. It may seem expensive at first to buy a new one out right, but in the long run, it's still alot cheaper then buying pads and tampons every month. I hope this helps!

@@R0s3.R3d Hi, my cup also doesn't pop, I've only feel it once but never hear it. What I've try is go around the cup inside and try to open fully with my finger and be sure that is not fold any more. After that I do up and down checking for suction. But about the sticking out thing can't give any trick to try out.

Bruna Gama the cup not popping open issue, I’ve had that. If you’re using the punch down method of insertion you may be punching down too far or folding it too tight. You want to create a negative pressure to keep the cup in, but if the cup isn’t loose enough to unfold it won’t, or it will and you’ll feel it suck to your cervix (very painful) loosen your fold a bit.
@erinbosse

Bruna I had the same issue with it giving me cramps and having trouble getting it out. The recommendations I have seen is to try a different style of cup. The cup I have is pretty stiff plastic so I am looking at trying a softer one to see if that helps.

Here are my tips: 1. Water-based Lube. Can't imagine my first time using a menstrual cup without it (I did attempt, but just no). 2. A good video reference on learning certain "techniques" on how to more comfortably insert and remove the menstrual cup is the KZbin channel "Precious Stars Vlog". Another video that was useful was directly from Organicup's KZbin channel. I am sure there are more, but these were the most useful/helpful when I was starting out. I am now on my 4th year and it's an absolute game changer, but it definitely took a learning curve.

I always found my period exceptionally stressful and hated leaving the house for fear of anything appending; this has fixed all of that. Yes sometimes it takes a little bit more forethought in public situations but you also don’t need to change it NEARLY as frequently as a tampon or pad. It’s fantastic and I would highly recommend! @@rileyy448 it’s not. The easiest way is to pinch it as you pull down ward. It has a seal, if you think of a suction cup on a flat surface, the way to release is to break the seal. Damn I got the same cup same size and the organiwipes and the organiwash and I loveee the packaging and I will NEVER go back to pads. But other than me rambling here are some tips: ♡You Can Use it For 12 hours or more (depending on your period) ♡There are different sizes of cup for 18 and under or 18 and over and more ♡You cannot loose your virginity wearing a menstrual cup ♡It it atomically impossible for it to get stuck in your vagina (unlike tampons) ♡most women don't feel it when they're wearing the cup ♡on your first time trying it is recommended to wear a pad/pantyliner in case of any leakage ♡there are 9 different methods of folding the cup (at the moment) ♡ recommended to boil for 3-5 mins before use ♡you can rinse it with water or boil it for 3-5 mins after your period ends (recommended way) ♡you can also use a intimate wipe/ tissue if you are in a public setting (if clean water is not available) ♡if you want to test if it is secure, once you insert it, give it a little tug and if it doesn't move it's secure ♡to make insertion easier wet the rim of the cup (or use a lubricant) ♡4 different ways to insert the cup: Standing up, Squatting, Putting one leg up on the toilet or Sitting on the toilet ♡remember to relax before and during inserting ♡you can use your stomach muscles to force the cup down making it easier to grip ♡make sure cup is unfolded after inserting ♡9/10 women use the cup after testing it ♡you can sleep with the cup in ♡reusable so it's wastefree/environmental friendly ♡lasts 3 years or more ♡it might be sore the first few times you insert and remove it ♡two best brands of menstrual cups to use: The Diva Cup and The Organi Cup (most known) ♡recommended to buy with longer stems (they're uncommon to come with short stems either way) ♡if stem is long, cut it a little shorter ♡the menstrual cup only collects (doesn't absorb) ♡depending on the length of your cervix buy the cup with the longer stem or length ♡the average cervix is 6cm long (length) ♡the menstrual cup leaves less bad odours compared to pads or tampons ♡chemicals in pads/tampons aggravate period pains ♡menstrual cups take a while to get used to before 100% leakage proof ♡generally messier and more intimate ♡forgetting to empty/clean it (the vacuum suction only works if you clean it out. Don't forget to unclog the 4 small holes) ♡since it's small it's easier to loose in draws/cupboards ♡make sure to get the right size or it might be painful to insert and may cause leakage (it’s a good idea to measure your curvix) Also: there’s a video on the “Organicup - Menstrual Cup” channel on how to use the cup

Just a random Potterhead hello yes, it can’t get lost inside you as there simply isn’t enough space up there for it to disappear. Although it might move positions to be higher up. Edit: if you try to get it out and it can’t be found it’s not stuck it’s just further up where u cant reach it, this is why it’s important to measure your curvix so you can get the right cup for you.

The first few times I wore mine I was aware of it for the first few hours as well, after that I didn't notice it. It took me about a month to really get the insert process down to around 2 minutes tops. I am happy I tried it. Wearing tampons always gave me anxiety because of toxic shock. I recently tried reusable pads, they work great. Just bought some cheaper pack off amazon that's made with bamboo.
