Pretty annoyed that you don't understand the cost to the frozen banana stand. Nuts and chocolate are NOT cheap. Everything that got added to the banana was way more expensive than several pounds of bananas.
@LocoocolocoСағат бұрын
Nah fr NGL it actually frustrated me
@sholva680917 минут бұрын
Yes they are, chocolate and nuts are dirt cheap. Not enough justify charging 7 dollars. I Australia at the big banana they charge 4 dollars for the same thing and that's Aussie currency so it would be about 2.50 your currency

The first food truck is SEVERELY OVERRATED. Go to any Lared Taco (located in gas stations) in Texas or Taqueria and you'll find much better for way cheaper.

i get the hate, being from a food truck town there are a few things i respect about food trucks. One is that they are willing to try crazy things, that no brick and mortar would ever risk, and two you almost always get face time with the owner and most want to be sure you enjoy the effort that went into making the food.

10 years ago, food trucks offered creative and affordable food because were operated by people passionated about their craft and less regulations/fees. Nowadays, there are more food trucks opened just to make a buck and offering mainstream stuff. Even chains have food trucks and those have higher margins pushing the little guys out.
@NEEDbacon6 сағат бұрын
Honestly I feel you on the food truck price thing. Usually I kinda rationalize it as "well they have to move around and what not so they aren't always open and they have to make up on that somehow". The spots you visted though, don't really strike me as food trucks outside the Banana one and Koji. They're basically restaurants with how set up they are. However the only one I can remember was a truck that did Shrimp Po Boys and damn was it good.

Food trucks in Seattle are gentrified roach coaches, that charge fast casual sit down prices for food that is usually just ok, and you have to stand in the rain to get it.

In big cities in street food or food trucks you want a line all the time but not too much of a line. No line means the locals decided they aint onto anything and/or awful value. Too much line could be good but in a big city the line can get way to big for #1 which may not be that different than #2 best

I think when it comes to food trucks its hit or miss. I've mostly had food trucks at conventions and had mix reception. Back at AX14 it was my first time ever having food truck food and it was the best. All the food was amazing and high quality. At my local cons in Arizona it's been hit and miss such as this years Fan Fusion I went to place that had burgers mainly and honestly it was bad. It pretty much was something you could make on your own level quality, specially for the price I paid, but there wasn't much in the area that didn't have you leaving the convention area. So regardless you spend or over spend. I still haven't tried any of the local food trucks in my area since the food is something I wouldn't necessarily eat other than one business which isn't around. I think it just varies. Would you rather spend on food you know the quality of or take a dip and try something possibly exciting? I 100% agree that the cost of food truck food is expensive, specially given the portion size, but at the same time I get needing to make a profit.

Most food trucks are expensive because a lot use fresh ingredients , permits to operate a food truck is expensive, here in Georgia for example smaller towns might charge $100 vs most larger areas can charge $1,000.00. Also some food truck owners are still making payments on their trucks , insurance for a food truck is ridiculous and then there is gas and paying employees.

So Vera Cruz slapped when Grandma was cooking on Cesar Chavez and had only one location. They took pride in their food and would not let anything go out that didn't meet their standards. Yeah, they expanded. Quality is not the same, but it is overpriced these days for what you get.
