When I got DM'd by brand ambassador they usually sent me something for free and then everything else I wanted was like 10% off. I thought it was great but then I got offered a pain sponsorship and I stopped responding to those messages. I also didn't realize those comments were just bots until I told brand no thank but they still comment. Good thing you're spreading the word because it not really fair to have to buy a product from a brand and promote for a chance to be featured on their page
@doombuggy1234 жыл бұрын
Danni Ray It’s really not. People should not pay to promote any amount of money to do promotion for a company. It’s a ridiculous, exploitative concept and it’s great that more people are spreading the word about companies like this and mlms. It’s especially egregious considering that this was also a drop shipping scam, so they weren’t even a real company.

Yes thats how a real brand ambassador should work but these ppl are scamming the naive. Because a young girl will think OMG I WANT TO BE AN AMBASSADOR FOR A BRAND But the ONLY way it would be possible for them to be an ambassador to begin with is to buy somthing from their website at full price and THEN and only then, do they send you the 50% off code . Which is what you work for. They literally HAVE to buy the stuff they are advertising AND the only thing they get in return is a discount from their website. Turning it into a scheme pretty much. Because the only way to stay an ambassador is to continue to purchase shit from their website, advertise it and not even get paid for it. So you're basically spending money to work. Brand ambassadors shouldn't have to pay a penny for anything.

Here's the lesson...Vet your potential partners. As she mentioned, at 5:15, how the only question she had was whether it was 50% off one item or the entire purchase. That being said, when approached by or approaching companies, you should ask these kinds of questions: Who have you worked with? What kind of insurance do you have (liability, marketing, etc)? Who are (X) of your ambassadors? What is your reach? What is your engagement? Ask questions. A truthful company will give you an answer. If they deflect, or use generalities to some relatively easy questions, then it's a no-go.

@ragamuffin28294 жыл бұрын
sickly foal from brown desert Also an Australian: I’ve seen the reputable surf brands (Billabong, Rip Curl, Roxy) sell for similar prices as what Amanda paid. Having only paid over $100 for swimmers once so far, I can say it’s worth doing if it’s good quality and you use swimmers often. My last pair of swimmers I bought from Baku and they’re lasted 4 years so far, likely to last another 2-3 and I use them a lot. In saying that, the department stores do sell some decent swimmers. Things get a little tricky when looking for ethical/sustainable swimmers, however.

I was an ambassador for a dog leash company and OH MY GOD IT WAS THE WORST LEASH I HAVE EVER USED. I have a corgi, his name is Carlton, and I used to post a lot about him on my instagram and hashtag the hell out of his photos so this company reached out to me asking me to advertise their cord leashes. Now I am incredibly picky about the leash I use, I love the atomic hound and that is the only leash I will ever use. I give them a chance because my dog is cute and more people should see his face. I get the leash and it is so thin, I have a fairly pully dog who gets really distracted on walks and chews his leash. It broke after his first walk with it. I reached out to the company because I paid $70 for a useless leash and then they blocked me. I never actually posted anything because their products are terrible.

Omg, you really do look so beautiful in the green swimsuit! That color is so lovely on you! I’m genuinely so jealous of your skin tone because I’m pale, but I’m so red underneath and you have a nice neutral/yellow undertone that really pops with that green! Also, in regards to the swimsuit you didn’t post pics of, idk if you know this, but you have a short torso and that swimsuit definitely highlights the torso and abdomen area so you’d have to have an Olivia Wilde type body (short arms/legs and long torso) to really pull it off, but you (and also myself) have more of Cameron Diaz/Kaitlin Olson body type (short torso, but fabulous long legs and arms). Unrelated, but I love Kaitlin Olson and in recent years she’s become kind of my style icon, which is to say I wear a lot of low-rise skinny jeans and flannel like it’s still 2007 and I’m at a modest mouse show. I have around 500 followers myself and post mostly plant related stuff. But I HAVE posted swimsuit pics over summer, and omg, the amount of ‘ambassador’ offers I STILL get is crazy. I’ve now started responding super snarkily to them as MOST of them don’t offer my size (I’m the top end of straight sizing) and are clearly drop ship site selling sweat shop clothes at an INSANE markup. I really love when they actually link a pic of yours in the email and say something like “we really like the aesthetic in this pic and think it fits our brand idea”, and the pic is ENTIRELY unrelated. The last response I sent was something to the effect of, well, I donno how y’all normally sell clothes, but since you don’t have my size, I doubt selling me something too small (at an insane markup)and sharing a pic of me in it looking like a sausage is the ~aesthetic~ you’re going for. They finally stopped responding after that.

Ok so I can't really remember how I found the company I "worked with," like I don't think they dm'd me? Doesn't seem logical with my number of followers at the time, I think I maybe saw an ad that was to be a model for a company and I liked the clothes and hadn't heard of the company so I clicked on it to look at their clothes. It took me to the model application page and it basically said they were hiring models but they were also looking for basically ambassadors. And you got a discount on clothes, etc. So I was like why not, and I sent an application which was basically just my name and @. Then I got an email that was like "we want you to be an ambassador, here's a discount code and if you post a picture of you and tag us we might ask you to be a paid model." I honestly thought this was super smart marketing, I was like ok yeah damn who doesn't want a discount code, and they're basically getting free marketing because people will want a chance to be a model. But then... lol. I basically decided I was too poor because even with the discount codes it was like $30 t-shirts that said like "darkness is my best friend" and "weed o'clock" and shit like that, like any of the cute stuff was in the $70's at least and I am not a rich bitch. I'm strugglin u feel. So I was like eh oh well I just won't get anything, AND THEN, it was like right after Christmas so they were trying to get rid of shit I'm sure. They sent an email with an additional discount code so you could get like 50% off basically. So I was like ok maybe I'll get one shirt. So I did, and it came, and it was the WORST QUALITY. Like the fact that they were ever selling it for full price was ridiculous. It was just all bad. So I never posted anything about it and unsubscribed from their emails lol. I do think this could be utilized to be good marketing for new companies, but now that it's like a shitty company thing to do I would say prolly not.

Honestly, when I became more active on Instagram, and by then I was in college, so my followings had increased significantly but just because I knew a lot of people, I started to receive tons of those bot messages from brands, and they all had similar if not the same picture of their products. I had been featured on other brands Instagrams before but they were companies I already had the product, but I'm not an influencer, I'm just someone who knows a lot of people and have a quite constant influx of likes, when I stopped posting as regularly cuz college took over, so did the messages, but the moment I started posting again they were all over my feed. Honestly, their algorithm must be really good cuz they also claimed to be like sister companies of other brands I had been featured in but I knew they had nothing to do with it. Happened to me to the first company i was so excited they made me pay first for a product with 20% discount, then they sent the welcome pack with codes you basically pay for things then promo them🥴 with just 20% off and commission on sales. Personally taking the piss, and being posted on their page is not even guaranteed! When I looked they have soooo many brand Ambassador's I believe that's their only customers because you don't see other people who purchased things.

Another company give you 30% off but you pay first their clothes are stupidly over priced I'm talking like 70£ for leggins 🥴 and I've never heard of the brand

I used to have an Instagram for my art and at it's height it MAYBE had 500 followers, that's it. A random sports brand reached out to me saying I would look great wearing their products and it honestly makes me laugh to this day considering I never had a single picture of myself on that account. After that the only brands that reached out to me were literal cults that called themselves "light energy workers" or some crazy shit like that.

I think the algorithm has me getting your videos because they relate to the experiences you've discussed; while I haven't been asked to be a "brand ambassador" (undoubtedly due to my gravity well), I have been solicited by other scams, including a company that will help you "make a business from your own home" which was really about creating a dropshipping business and pushing stuff on eBay and other marketplaces. There's a big toxic marketplace around taking advantage of people who want financial independence, and there are much better ways to take risks than these. One observation I've had, more related to this video, is the color green you were wearing works really well with your coloration in those photos.

Not clickbait. I have no clue why I assumed you didn't have a rockin bod, maybe cuz I find you to be an adorable nerd type so i was surprised at worst, cuz i thought the title pics were Photoshop. Good for you for that, but it ain't clickbait.

In some of my ig pictures I have had those kind of comments (the ones of "dm us"), and for me it didn't made any sense at all, I have like 300 followers and don't post that much (I used to, but some things happened in the last year and now I'm not that active on social media), so seeing those messages my first instinct was "they're trying to scam me"

I’m a drummer and musical gear companies do this all the time (looking at you soultone cymbals) where they offer you an “endorsement” that means you get gear at a 15-25% discount. Pro tip If you’re not getting something for free, you’re a customer, not an endorsed artist. For example a friend got a real endorsement from a different cymbal company because he was in one of the biggest Chicago bands at the time. He got a free pair of high hat cymbals (300$ +/- value), anything else at cost, and free replacement of anything he broke. In return he had to rep the company, give them shout outs on their press material (early 90’s so no SM)... but he got free stuff. And that makes you an endorsed client, NOT a customer.

I was an ambassador for a jewelry brand at one point.... I had friends from twitter who were also ambassadors, and the brand was looking for more so I decided to “apply”. I was given a one time discount code, and only if others used my code would I receive any sort of “credit” back... besides that I would have to pay for everything out of pocket. Stupid I know, but I still did it for like 5 months, until I ordered a certain necklace with my initial, and when my package came it was a completely different necklace, and a pair of earrings, both were pretty, but not what I ordered. I was upset, so I emailed them (twice) and then finally just dmed the company on IG, they responded saying they would send what I ordered to me, free of cost... yet they didn’t ask for my tracking number, email etc.... it’s been over a year and never got that necklace.... nor have promoted their brand since.

Once again, experience proves itself the ultimate instructor. I was always told "the devil is in the details", and to tackle things with a k.i.s.s.(keep it simple stupid)! 🤔😋 Seems we view the world through the same colored glasses, and rose they are not. Also, to be perfectly honest, your kind of photos are far superior to the ones who owe their beauty to Photoshop and plastic surgeons. You are real, you are beautiful, and you should never be ashamed of it.

You killed it in that green polka dot. How did they not use some of those? After posting some clothes I’d bought, a few companies tried the brand ambassador thing with me for 50% off and in my mind I was like, “I don’t like any of this and I’m certainly not going to buy it.” I don’t even have 2k on my Instagram.

I’m pretty sure I know what company you’re talking about because I believe I was contacted by the same company. A swimsuit company that gave deals for posting their bikinis and their ig was mostly pics of their ambassadors. They contacted me and I don’t even have any swim suit pics on my insta. I was underage at the time that they contacted me so I rejected the offer just cause it seemed sketchy that they wanted pics of an underage girl in a bikini. Based off this video, I’m glad I stuck with that decision
