Lots of questions asking why not Decidueye! It’s definitely objectively better if you’re looking for a Pokémon that fulfills a similar role. I find, however, that people definitely underestimate Dartrix more and don’t respect it as seriously (just watch the video and see how our opponents responded to it)! At the end of the day though it’s really just for fun - sometimes you just want to find ways to use your favorite Pokemon competitively

"People might misplay around it" is not a good argument... You could use that to justify literally anything, and it wouldn't change the fact that this is strict downgrade from Decidueye. Ignoring the obvious pro of stats, the fact that you're running ghost tera on it instead of just having the Fake Out immunity for free is proof enough that you're losing tangible value for no benefit other than hoping your opponent might be stupid.

You mention this, but I think a notable partner that could be better than both is Shiftry. It can potentially run the exact same set, but in best of one Shiftry is especially hard to get a read on, as opponents could predict a huge variety of alternative options like Fake Out or Sucker Punch, and you could potentially replace Leaf Storm with one of those moves in a pinch.

i love these kinds of teams where they utilise middle evolutions for niche things like this. The only issue is that there is no eviolite for offences, making most of the pokemon strictly support.

What's funny about this team is that dartrix doesn't have anything here that decidueye doesn't (who's faster and immune to fake out) or jumpluff (much faster lol so tailwind would have a lot more utility) but the team creator essentially just picked dartrix because he knew he could make it work and wanted to flex. He even got championship points with this team!

My guess is less hp and less attack stat for bullet seed. They prob want it to die once its role is done so that they can switch something in and steam roll. It’s faster in trick room too

Chalda is a friend of mine and he just wanted to run Dartrix because he thought it was more fun. No real reason other than for fun. He ended up bringing the same team but with Decidueye to a local after the GC run.

If not running eviolite, why not run Decidueye directly? It has better stats (especially in speed & special attack that are being maxed out), plus the automatic ghost type helps with fake out. The flying type of Dartrix doesn't seem crucial in any way?

About game 6 second Knock Off on Buzz: if I'm not tripping the first Knock Off with Eviolite and the second without do exactly the same, barring damage rolls! In the 60% range of damage like it looked it was, even if you get high roll into low roll it's still a clean ko :)

but... but... you could just use decidueye??? immune to fakeout without burning a tera, different weaknesses dont matter because youre focus sash, faster, stronger, bulkier on the special side, and theres no earthquake for the flying type to matter. you cant even say its easier to get into overgrow range because its hp and defense are identical to decidueyes, and if you wanted overgrow that badly, you would be lowering dartrixs defense evs. and again, decidueye is just stronger anyways! using decidueye gets you a ~25% damage increase all the time, which is *way* more valuable than the ~20% extra damage over that that you *might* be doing with dartrix if the opponent hits it with a special move just strong enough to put it below 33%, but not strong to put decidueye below 33% hp. the only real benefit of this seems to be hoping your opponent will disrespect dartrix enough for it to get more value than a respected decidueye, which is not at *all* a valid reason to use a pokemon over a strictly superior alternative. that, and i guess by using dartrix, you can bait your opponent into faking you out as you ghost tera, which is something you cant do with alolan decidueye, but *is* something you can do with hisuian decidueye, which is *still* both bulkier and a stronger special attacker than dartrix. if theres some genius reason that dartrix (especially one without eviolite) is a valid pick for any team, then i would love to hear it - maybe it would be a great fit on one of my teams! until then, im sorry, but this is just stupid.

"bro hates fun" how is using an unevolved mon with only downsides fun? creativity is fun, niche picks are fun, making your tailwind rain dance mon slower and frailer and your leaf storm mon weaker is not fun, its stupid. if you want something unique in the slot, use tropius! its significantly bulkier, its stronger, it gets all the same moves, and the grand price you pay is one less point in speed. as a little bonus, it gets chlorophyll, so sun teams activate your rain dance mon. is that one point of speed too much to lose? okay, go with jumpluff! its *way* faster, still has all the same moves, has nearly identical physical bulk and improved special bulk compared to dartrix, also has chlorophyll, and while you might worry about its low special attack, consider that its fast enough to run a modest nature, so its special attack ends up only five points lower than dartrix while still being almost 50 points faster. and if you dont need all of that extra speed, then guess what? investing *nothing* into jumpluffs speed still leaves you 16 points faster, and means you can make it *way* bulkier than dartrix. there is *so* much room to be creative in pokemon, and using focus sash dartrix is *not* creative. "hmm, how can i make my decidueye set worse... ooh, i know!" get real, dude.
