I Tried EcoSlay Jello Shot ... and I Think That My Low Porosity Natural Hair Hates Okra! Feels Hard!

Hey everyone! I have been wanting to try the famous Ecoslay Jello Shot for my Wash n Go ever since I saw and read rave reviews of this hair gel! Although the gel may not have worked the best on my hair, I do believe that this is still a great product that will work amazing for others and that is why I decided to still share my results with you! I forgot to mention in the video that another suggestion is to pair the EcoSlay Jello Shot Gel with a thicker leave in conditioner to prevent the crunchiness or try using less of the EcoSlay JelloShot! Unfortunately, for my hair, those options will not work out for me but they might for you, everyones hair is unique and different! I really appreciate how you didn’t talk down the brand just because it didn’t work for you. I love this gel. I have two ways I used it for my wash n go’s. The first way is apply my leave in which is pattern beauty leave in and then over that I apply an oil and then the gel. It helps my hair stay moisturize. The second way it I pair it with the she scent it plum nectar agave curling syrup my hair stay really moisturize. The hold on the gel is firm but when you find things to layer it with it reduces the firmness of the gel. I have type 4 a hair for reference medium density and fine strands. Hopefully this helps any one. For me This gel took some trial and error but once I got it to work for I have been getting the best wash n go’s that have been lasting me 5+ days and that wasn’t the case for me before finding this gel

I’ve tried this product a few times. I’m 4a. Just paired it with the Texture ID styling custard. First try - I was heavy handed with both…got flakes and the stringy look. Second try- dabbed my finger in both products for each section, sat under dryer snd stretched. Got defined, full wash n go. Btw…used Kinky Curly Knot today as leave in.

I haven’t tried that gel but what I have used is mango twist and hold cream by Kriya Botanicals. The hold is there but it doesn’t dry out your hair

You should try it again on soaking wet hair. And emulsify the gel in your hands before applying it in your hair. You don’t need a lot of it because it’s pretty concentrated.

OMG!!! I literally just posted a review about this product and I thought that I was the only one that had a negative experience. I also have low porosity/low density hair...it looked like a stringy stiff jeri curl🤦🏾‍♀️

This gel is my staple with UFD. It leaves a lot of other gels in the dust in terms of performance for me. I have tight curls which are not easily held by most curl holding/defining products. The product maker nailed the title " for rebellious" curls. I can get more than 7 day hair with this. I love it so much. It also doesn't irritate my scalp like others which is another big PLUS.

@@IydaMichael UFD = uncle funky daughter curl magic. For me, UFD gives me elongation, but not definition (my hair is similar thickness as yours). You need to pair it with another gel...but beware, it's hard to use and doesn't pair well with other products. I used it 5 times, and it only came out right one time. So I only use it if I want elongation.

I use UFD and I'm trying to figure out what to do :(. It's so tacky and I normally use it and then put a mousse on top, but I don't like the fact the the mousse makes my hair voluminous. So I'm trying to find a substitute. Do you just use hello shot after putting in leave in?

@@LadyLavendar7 UFD as a base/ leave in only and jello shot as a topper are a match made in heaven. Infact UFD is the only product I use with Jello shot because the two work so well together. My hair doesn't really get voluminous quickly even days after with jello shot having such a strong hold.

Your hair looks so gorgeous. Maybe try it with another leave in instead? Usually tgin green tea leave works great with most gels. Excellent content

@@IydaMichael sounds wonderful. Maybe try using a leave in conditioner that doesn’t have glycerin in it. I find it does better with my wash and goes. I’m also low porosity and protein sensitive. Try TGIN leave- in whenever you get the chance. I find it pairs nice with most gels. Cheers and I hope it turns out perfectly the way you like it

Your hair looks LUSH AND JUICY! The hold is just not there. Sounds similar to Mane Choice CHEERS which is a GEL ATO or something lol...I did a wash and go lady Sunday with that gel and I'm STILL rocking it. The hold is MUCH BETTER, but the stickiness and usage (I used 3/4 of the container as well) is not great. It however holds moisture for us type 4 low porosity gals. It also gives ALOT of movement!

Hey Iyda I have low porosity hair as well and I recently tried a gel by a brand called The Doux. It is their Big Poppa Gel and it is amazing. It is moisturizing and it doesnt require a leave in.

O Lynda if i watch your videos i have soooo much hope for my little toddlers hair who is turning three this year. I have spoiled my hair over years with relaxers etc and i am still on a journey to get it in the best shape. I am committed to not use any chemicals on my little ones hair. I feel in today's time moms have an advantage of all the good advise on the internet then our parents had years back and did not have the knowledge on how to handle our hair and relaxers was their go to in order to control our heads :) bless them they tried their best... i am watching your videos to get the best tips for her low porosity hair and also my own. Hello, i just tested this gel, i also find it making my hair harder than usual and quite frizzy......(i have also low porosity, normal thikness of hair strand and type 2b ). Not a good feeling when i touch my hair......haven't found a hidrating gel untill now 😔. Do you have a suggestion for me? Thank you and love your videos 😉!

Hello! My fave gel is the Wetline Xtreme Gel! Great curl definition, shine and moisture ❤️

You may have to use a small amount since your curls are looser and may be finer in texture than mine since this is a thicker gel. You may want to try a lighter gel like Kinky Curly Custard that is protein free! ❤️
