Absolutely. The complaints just shift from one side to the other. If anyone young gets one they haven't earned it and it's disrespectful to older musicians who haven't gotten one. If someone old gets one it's a cash grab that's ignoring the younger musicians.

@@kierenmoore3236 just considering the case makes this a good value. The closest thing in the Epiphone lineup is the Coronet or the SG special, but they come in a cardboard box. This is also a little more unique

I have no clue who Yungblud is but I think that guitar is pretty cool. I would put a stacked P-90 in it and a push/pull knob so you have the option of having a humbucker as well as the P-90.

@@DutchVai I am not sure the younger players even buy Epiphone. All the youngs bands I see at festivals, non of them are using Epiphone. It's all Fender or PRS, other gear. Gibson/Epiphone is seen as Grandad gear.

I've wanted a white SG Junior since 1986 when I saw Jake with Ozzy on 'The Ultimate Sin' tour. I bought mine the day they were released. (With only 600 made, I knew I should act quickly.) All the major retailers are sold out now, but some smaller sellers still have it in stock. The Epi website lists it as backordered until December. I wonder if it'll have the same specs. I suspect a cheaper model with a bolt-on neck and no case. This thing rocks. I'm running it through my 15w EVH Iconic Series 5150 with an MXR Rhoads Distortion+. Yeah, I got one. (Actually, two. 😎) and an MXR Custom Shop Vari-Phase pedal. Unbelievable. Eye gnu nuffin' 'bout Yungmud. I'm an aging classic rocker, so... One thing that I did notice was that this Epi SG Jr. seems more rigid than the Gibson model I once had. I tend to grip the neck tightly and on the Gibson, notes would go flat. It felt flimsy. Not an issue with this one. Oh, one thing... This model has the Epiphone P-90 PRO pickup. It is far superior to the regular Epi P-90.

This seems exactly like the Billie Joe Armstrong Les Paul Jr Epiphone that came with a hard case. Just a different body shape and the Ephiphone logo is mother of pearl inlay. It's actually one of my favorite gutiars.

I'm getting ready to move some of my axes around so I can play likely the 63 and my 2014 American Special Telecaster. I've got 20 guitars so I try to alternate what I play on here and there. I'm sure Austin pulls file footage from some of what he has reviewed so the Pelham he showed on the video could very well be one that I bought from him. I'm trying to remember if he showed the 63 if sonit could very well be that one also.

@@Trog There's a hard contrast line on both sides all the way down, really noticeable on the low E side at the 12th fret, and the grain is the same on the side as on the front, which it shouldn't be. I tried to google and I even see glue remnants on some of them, some are colour matched better than others though. No way epiphone actually do hidden fretslots in unbound pieces of wood.

This is a perfect opportunity to bring out a non-signature SG Junior in a regular finish, gig bag and priced a bit below the SG Special. I class this one as covering the development costs of things like that pickguard. A regular release would make for a great beginner guitar somewhere between the Melody Maker and Les Paul Junior

I gave Yungblud a listen and was not disappointed. Gives me some hope in the future of rock. I’m a sucker for white Gibsons and really dig p90s. I kind of miss my Les Paul Junior which I sold. This is tempting, especially with that hard case. Way more appealing than any of the $1300 Epiphones. This is reasonably priced, looks good and sounds good.

I ordered one from Sweetwater and it showed up with a busted neck. When I called the rep said that the call he had before mine had the same issue. Since it's a limited edition they couldn't replace it since they weren't getting anymore. Luckily, I found another one at Musicians Friend. It shows up tomorrow, so hopefully I have better luck. I've wanted a white Junior for forever, and I can't bear to shell out 15k for a original one since I'm gonna play the hell out of it.

Love SG Jr's. Back around 1999, my buddy's dad had an old one stashed away up in the upper level of his barn where we used to party when they were out of town. Not sure of the exact year, but it was an early 1960's model. That thing was an absolute dream of a player, one of the most comfortable neck profiles I ever laid my hands on. I still think about that guitar pretty regularly 25 years later. I'd love to ask them if they're interested in selling it if it's still around, but what I could afford to pay for it would probably be insulting if they have any idea what it's actually worth.

I think if you were good buds and came with a solid offer like 3k or something and then told them it was worth in the condition it’s in and I bet they’d sell it to you. Friends and honesty go a long way. Just talk about restoration costs to make it playable again if it’s just sat there it would need work, but I bet the nitro looks sweet now.

I bought a '62 at a pawnshop back in '91 and it was a Ferrari. Just killer all around guitar. Shallers and a Leo Quan badass bridge so you could adjust the intonation. Someone stole it.

Trogly The Brian Ray guitar only has two pots and no 3-way switch. You need a TOM bridge and the wobble bits oh and that awesome ebony block. I would definitely do those mods. It is a great looking guitar.

It looks cool and you can't go wrong with a Jr. if you play a lot of Metal genres. I have an old Ibanez with P90's so I have no need of a second. If I didn't I would certainly be checking out this. I love white on an SG shape.

Hey #1 Trog man ! about a year and a half ago I got from a reliable source that Gibson was about to stop producing the "SG junior" so I soon got one , I was lucky found a great unit with a single piece body ! a close friend just bought the "EPI" SG jr. ! what we found was equal build quality, the Gibson neck was much closer to the original 60's, Epi's P-90 was brighter but less output ! both instrument's come with a H/S case ! Overall of course the Gibson is closer to the early 60's original guitar ! BUT the Epiphone is an absolute killer guitar for the price !! this instrument would be a good guitar to upgrade with some serious part's !

I started out on a 64 Junior back in the day & always wished I had it back, but at the time traded it away to get a V. So, yaa, I would consider that guitar, but more likely is I`ll find a used, but newer Gibby Jr. Maybe I`ll find one with a broken headstock & paint it white? ...Like I need ANOTHER guitar, right? I personally think giving an artist like this a signature is pretty cool. Gibson/Epiphone definitely missed the boat one signatures in the 2000s, when rock bands were actually playing their guitars. Plus SG Jr.s are pretty cool, and Epiphone hasn't had one in their lineup in awhile, so this is a welcome addition.

1st thing you have to do, is replace the pos lighting bolt bridge, and use locking studs, or that bridge will tilt forward, causing the inevitable sitar sounds they're known for. Worst design they ever did, even on the Gibsons. Nice looking guitar though. Music City bridge is a perfect solution to this problem.

If you find his background in the Harrison family interesting, what's even more interesting is that they've been on the wrong side of the law for selling stolen guitars and selling/assembling counterfeit vintage guitars and amps. I love SG Juniors! and the SG Special(Pete Townsend!). I was pissed when Gibson discontinued their Jr for no reason so this is what we have left with. Well, they got the color right(Jake E. Lee/Shot In The Dark video). No YungBlud permanent markings, he must've worked for his dad cause he sure knows how to market a guitar(just add a sticker).

I owned an SG 400 back in the 90's man it was a sweet guitar, all mahogany with uncovered humbuckers in the cherry finish, it was my brothers favorite of my own guitars because he was a Gibson sniffer. A jackass knocked it over constantly and one day it fell into one of the corner plates on my 4x12 cab and bent the 9th fret and popped it out. I ended up trading it in for a Tama drum kit in 2001. I miss that Epiphone SG.

I don't know much about Yungblud, but apparently he's pretty divisive. A lot of people either love him or hate him for some reason. So it was probably smart to not put his name on the guitar anywhere so that if you hate him but like the guitar, you can just pretend it's not a signature model. I can't help but wonder how it compares to a Harley Benton DC-60 Junior, which is pretty much identical other than the headstock shape, a wrap-around bridge with adjustable saddles, and the price ($183 + shipping).

Man I picked up a used DC600. I’ll never buy another epiphone. I picked up a second one and modded the hell out of it. Shaw in the neck custom bucker in the middle and a Super distortion in the bridge. I got them all used at a flea market for $400, I splurged on the Emerson harness with the bumblebees for $100. Installed tone pro bridge and tail I pulled off another project and now I have like $650 in something that plays as good as my 5k Gibson version , the HB with 24 SS frets and I can blend the middle.

Pretty Yungblud SG Junior, laurel looks good on this one. "P90-DEPB-C" doesn't sound like a Gibson P90 clean, but the distorted tones are useable at least. Needs a Dimarzio "P90 Super Distortion" in it to really rock.

Honestly, I got turned on to Yungblud by my daughter. Actually, cool, harder edged rock and roll like the stuff I used to scare my parents with, and our shared appreciation of music got her into indie rock. She's started a band, and plays bass. Wouldn't have happened otherwise. (If you don't know, you got no room to hate.)

If this wasn’t a signature guitar, I would have already ordered one. I want a white SG Special or Jr to round out my collection. But I just can’t stand everything about that guy and can’t bring myself to support him. Just my opinion. If you’re a fan of his, enjoy. The fact it doesn’t have his name on it I think was smart of Epiphone. They’re probably counting on people in shops buying it not knowing. I think they know how many of their customers would immediately dismiss it if they had his name on it.
