😊hey Justin, alpaca wool is the best!! I'm a new fan as I've always hated wool because it would itch me horribly. Alpaca wool is completely different, so soft, warm and so comfy !! The best for hiking I find....😊

Happy that I, with your help and not having the luxury of many gears to choose from, have now a setup almost identical to the one you presented. That means a lot since you have wwwwaaaaaayyy more experience and trail time than I will ever have. Thanks a lot.

I just received my X-Mid 2p sil-poly. I've been using an X-Mid 1p for a couple of years, but I find it very confining and since I got a dog, we don't both fit comfortably. Now I have the 2P, and my dog has kennel cough, so I can't get out on trail for another couple of weeks 😝 Puppy will be staying with my sister, because I'm not sure she will be able to manage a long hike in the Ontario heat and humidity after having a respiratory infection. So, I will get to sprawl out in the 2P all on my own. And thank you so much Justin, I have that f#@%ing song stuck in my head now!🤣

Does the rainfly on your 2P sag into the tent body? I also have the 1P and have had no issues with it, but every time I set up the 2P, the fly touches the body at a couple points. Just curious if anyone else had the same problem.

Only thing i disagree with is the brs3000 for all around use. You would probably want a stove with a regulator for cold weather use. Otherwise awesome picks and a great video from you as always!

I have the Sea to Summit mug and love it. It keeps drinks warm enough for most situations, is durable and made out of silicone rubber which is very food safe compared to plastic.

Hello Justin thankyou for all ur content I love ur videos and wish u had 10 times the subscribers. I hope u get there soon bud!!! Ur fantastic one of my faves. I'm just a ghetto boy but I love my expensive gear. I love buying high end. I go out weekly. Hilleberg and kifaru etc hill people gear and mystery ranch etc etc etc. I own 28 packs and much gear but I love packs so much. I have to say tho u guys r getting Pickier and pickier on weight!!!!! But hey to each their own right!! But hear this I wanted to try a quilt for the first time and now I'm a huge convert. Never thought id see this day. I mean that. But I heard good things about the feather stone Moondance 25 quilt. It wasn't spendy but I heard great amazing things and I didn't know if I'd like it. Holy moly is that quilt right on. The XL size is soooo huge for me and I love the way it fits But even more so I'm blown away by the warmth. This is a quality quilt. It had 2 loose threads But I cut them and I just hope maybe u cud help other people find it to. It does enough of what hi end quilts do and saves so much. It gets the job done I have zero complaints and that's not often for me. I was blown away. I never Buy budget. But this was just great. Thankyou sir be well to u and ur people.

I sent the helix back for the xtherm. helix is WAY more comfortable, my arm falls asleep on the xtherm, but it’s also an emergency sleep system for me and the warmth to weight is unbeatable. however sometimes I wish I kept the helix. freakin’ sleeping pads man, too may to choose from…

4:15 it’s interested the shift that has happened: when I first got into ultralight/lightweight backpacking back in the early 2010s it was impossible to get a good lightweight hooded base layer, and no one (except people trekking through deserts) was even considering these sun shirts, now it seems like all KZbinrs are using sun shirts (and I assume this marks a greater trend). It’s great to see more hooded base layers or mid layers for men. I remember hearing about men getting women’s hoodies and extending the arms.

Really like the x-mid or the tarptent strat 2 for couples adventures. I think they are a bargain for those of you in the US. Unfortunately after import fees and taxes into Europe basically doubling the price, I don't think they are worth it. Unfortunately there aren't many replacement options over here.

I'm giving the Bushka meals a try, since I'm so tired of the dehydrated meals that have 10 year shelf life. The Bushka meals seem to be selling well on GGG that they are sold out of many items. You'll have to buy direct from Bushka to get a good sampling.

For those in Europe, that don't have access to REI gear without hefty importing fees, what do you think of the Exped Lightning 45? It's a bit lighter than this pack, a few bucks more expensive, but sadly doesn't have those handy waterbottle pockets on the belt.

But definitely worse in high winds and snow loads, not seam sealed and the fabric is SilNylon (not SilPoly like in the XMid).
@texmexia49
@texmexia49 Жыл бұрын
@@Oaksteel1yeah, I like freestanding but the material is more important to me. Silpoly doesn’t absorb water and that weight makes a huge difference.

I'm doubting between the 1 & 2 person version of the X-Mid tent. Would you also go for the 2-person tent if you're only using it on your own?
@jonsanford2515
@jonsanford2515 Жыл бұрын
I have a Durston 1p. I use it about 90% of the time I backpack. It feels much bigger than the inner tent is, because the vestibules are so large. The only time I wish it was bigger is for changing clothes, but I have the original version. The current version is a few inches wider, so would help with that. All that said, if the size of the tent footprint isn’t an issue, I’d go for the 2p. It isn’t much heavier, or bulkier for a lot of extra interior space. It just has the footprint of a typical 3p tent.
@MoonbeameSmith
@MoonbeameSmith Жыл бұрын
I would never buy/sleep in a 1 person tent. I need that extra room-which, to be honest, isn't that much more- I do not like to leave anything outside if I can avoid it... that's just me though. \
